Nice to see these abandoned places. Sad to see the disrespect given to them over the years.
Twin Arrows wow does that bring back memories my husband was a truck driver Long Haul and I rode with him and we would stop at Twin Arrows for the night sometimes cool to see them again.
Great video! Thanks for the Drone footage too. I had to look up the “Death Cave.” 18:00 For anyone interested read on: Two Guns was the site of a mass murder of Apaches by their Navajo enemies in 1878. A group of Apaches had hid in a cave at Two Guns to avoid detection, but were discovered by the Navajos, who lit sagebrush fires at the cave's exit and shot any Apaches trying to escape. The fire asphyxiated 42 Apaches, after which they were stripped of their valuables. The murder site is referred to as the "death cave". During the winter of 1879-80, Billy the Kid and his outlaw gang hid in the ruins of a stone house and corral on the west rim of Canyon Diablo, across from Two Guns.
Thanks Russ. I think you are one of the only you- tubers to post almost daily. Always sorry when they're over. Also, thanks for stopping at those little places most people drive by. Good to see you enjoying the journey and not just the destination. 👍🙏
I like the way your videos start where you left off at.
Wow. I saw it 10yrs old. Cant believe thats all thats left . They should perserve it. Thanks 👍
RVerTV ; Best Channel / Best Videos In The U.S.A. Thank you Russ - For Your Great Videos. Arizona - Great State - Great People. Happy Trails Russ - RVer TV Fans. Every RVerTV Fan Wave at Russ. Twin Arrows- Great video / Great views.
Great spot to view Yay! Drone view yay yay!
The reason there were so many old foundations at your second stop is because it was an old tourist trap stop on route 66 called the Apache Death Caves. That is where you saw the people walking, down into the caves @ 18:08. When you did the drone shot looking south of your van there you can make out a swimming pool. The pool was from the old KOA. Couple years ago the A frame office was still standing. Now burnt down. Too bad.
That's the "Apache Death Cave" at the 18:00 mark in the video.
Good Mornin' Russ, Good lesson in Route 66 history. I see the new gas station/truck stop at Two Arrows looks ready to open. And for you RVerTV viewers The Casino has a great place for RV's to stay overnight. We stopped and stayed last year, had a great burger in the sports bar. The hotel part is very nice too. I Googled Two Guns, a lot of stuff went down there back in the day! There is another ghost town a couple of miles north on the dirt road called Canyon Diablo. That was a wild place in its day too. "To cool for school"! OK, head east young man! See You Soon!
Nice video, thank you! Ron PTL USA
Really enjoyed both of these places in Sept. 2017. Thanks for visiting and sharing.
Hey Russ put 1 of those arrows on the van..pointing the way of your journey!!!
Good morning bro. Safe travels. Thank you
Wow can you just imagine the history and all that happened there? Very cool!
Should have looked closer at the Apache death caves. Very interesting thx
Neat spots! Looks like this area was known to others decades ago.
Thanks Russ, and good morning...........JB........
I think there was a KOA Kampground behind that gas station at 2Guns, Russ. It burned down but that rock 'foundation' you remarked on was the entrance marker, I think. Those 'stone structures' seen from the drone footage are the remains of an old 1930's 'mountain lion roadside exhibit' that featured the animals plus other desert species in enclosures. So many KZreadrs have done the Route 66 thing I feel like I've travelled the entire length without leaving my chair as well as being a scholar! LOL!!
I can't believe the arrows are still there. We traded there many many years ago. Thanks for a blast from the past.
I remember stopping in there at Twin Arrows when I was a teenager they had a nice little restaurant and decent sized gift shop really good food I remember that and as I got older I am started driving truck over the road and I remember stopping there in the early 90s 92-93 somewhere in there and parking out in the gravel parking lot and taking my rest break and eating in the restaurant that was not too long before they shut the doors I hated to see that place close
Nice views
Slow down and move over. Way to keep them safe. As you follow the interstates, you'll see many, many examples of death by progress. Makes you wonder where the people ended up. Those stones look like an entrance to something. Must have been quite the spot back in the day. Thanks for showing us around.
Another great video 👍👌 keep on traveling ,,,
good morning a fine morning
Wow Russ that’s another spot I’ll have to stop at when I head south for my first time. You have given me and many others so many wonderful attractions to stop at it is incredible. Thanks buddy. Cheers!!!
Good morning, Russ! Thanks for sharing. Safe travels!
Twin arrows casino allows boondocking in there parking lot. Nice place to overnight. Good food too.
Oh gosh, Russ, I'm old enough to remember when Two Arrows was open for get Native America jewerly and gifts. So sad to see how run down and graffitied it is. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Can't wait to get on the road again!
Excellent way to start the week!
I too have driven by Twin Arrows many times but have not stopped. Thanks for stopping for me! None of the Navajo Casinos have opened yet (one close to where I live up in the 4 Corners is closed) - soon to open ♤♡◇♧. Getting closer to NM - woo hoo! Thanks Russ ☆☆☆
thanks for another adventure!
That was fun!
THANKS
Sad when times end. Cool tour.
Great video Russ!
"I wish there was a way to see this [Twin Arrows] during it's heyday..." You can Russ! Google it. I think there were even diesel pumps in the lot where the 'arrows' are for truck traffic on then major Route 66. Fun Fact: The 'arrows' were WORSE shape than they are now. They were 'refurbished' along with the facades of the buildings for the 1994 movie 'Forrest Gump' and are shown in the Tom Hanks character's 'running' scenes. Too bad, those arrows are now almost as bad as they were prior to the movie!!
That was wonderful It's the trip I didn't get to take back in Jan. We had a restaurant in Winslow and a ranch just west of Ganado. Hoping to make it it this winter.
Its too bad, I always wanted to see it in its glory.
The Archer in his legendary royal games.
Cool vid Russ.
Cool !!
Very cool. I'm from Tucumcari. Looking forward to that.

That's where I usually get on I-40...from HWY56. No scales 😉
Russ- I remember Twin Arrows and Two Guns ( along with others like Jack Rabbit ) from traveling with my parents . I still stop when I travel out West ( I live in Fla. Now) Never could get Dad to stop- they're just junk joints he would say!
Twin Arrows, you say? I read that Custer wore an arrow shirt.
google maps says there is an Apache death cave right next to that stone-walled structure you were flying over at two guns. Kind of on the bank of that wash.
Nice, Good video
Walnut Canyon...been there. Twin Arrows...did that. Meteor Creator...eh, big hole.
Twin arrows would make a good RV park.

Still is if you don't mind no services.
Notice the volcanic vents from the 7,56 time mark. , They're the reddish hills.
Fun to stay there for a night..
Too bad the “artists” had to mess this up. I’m with you. Someone should make something of it again.
Pinetop AZ
Morning
We're supposed to be at Twin Arrows Casino this week for our meeting! But still closed 😒
From the looks of Two Guns on Google Earth, it looks like a old KOA campground was there and burned to a crisp. Enjoy!
🗽🗽🗽👍👍👍
What day was this video ? Am heading that way in two weeks. Thanks
i stop there back in the mid 70s with my father, when he was a trucker, and was ran by the native american
Can you Boon-dock to any abandoned places? is it safe?
Stopped for gas there a few times in the 90s.sad to see now.
Remember the movie Forrest Gump he was running through here when he got splashed in the face
you can see it has it was just search "twin arrow trading post"
So I Google Two Guns. It said to be cursed and has a history of betrayal and murder. Spooky history. As you said it would be a nice place for lunch, But not to sure about an over night stay there.
those revines look more like fault lines, they go kind of a long way...
To view old pictures of when it was operational, there is a Facebook Page called Twin Arrows Trading Post Landmark & Historical Place with pictures dated from June 15, 2015. Also stories from the family. The change from Rt 66 to the new I-40 had a negative impact on the trading post stop. I remember travelling in the 80's using a book listing all the old trading posts and visited many of them. It use to be a building crumbled back to the earth with the wind and weeds but now it becomes a canvas for the new age. Too bad someone didn't paint the history of the Native Americans on the walls!
location where Forest Gump movie clip of truck splashin' muddy water on jogger and he unfolds the shirt & reveals a smilin' face !!
👍
🙋♀️👍
What did you do for a living. As I can guess.
Where do ghosts go when a Ghost Town is abandoned.
At twin arrow it would have stayed open but people are lazy if they can not just pull and off they will not stop there
The casino should have been open. The Indian casino in Prescott has been for 2 weeks.🐈

Navajo Nation hit hard by the virus. Twin Arrows Hotel Casino original opening date just pushed to July 5th. They take care of Truckers and RV’ers. There are dedicated parking lots for each. Always stop there but will miss it this year.
two guns 3 miles 🤔
Two Guns has an amazing history. I took 4 minute video around the lion enclosure. When I tried to play back it was 23 minutes. My voice over was cut and could hear weird noises.
when i was a kid we stopped here to get gas.
Overly cautious, not into exploring the sites much.
And everyone wonders why cave paintings exist, It seams theres an instinctual drive to scribble nonsense!
People would, but you are standing on Indian land and no white man has a chance of doing anything, and the Indians, well there is no motivation.

They built a casino, over at Two Arrows which will attract more tourists and it's right off I40. Sounds like they are moving forward with the times. Last time we stopped at Two Arrows Trading Post it was a sad little tourist trap. I'm sure the casino will bring in more jobs and money.
