This is what true basic amateur and experimental aviation is all about. Seat of the pants flying, on the edge, using raw skill and basic, often home built aircraft to do the near impossible. Like the Barnstormers of the early days of flying, these airplanes and their pilots are today's real life dare devil pioneers. Keeping alive the dream of flight, withing the financial range of nearly everyone. Love it!

Trent’s kf is a lot heavier than that highlander, s6 and s7. And actually lower power to weight ratio. It’s a nice plane, but not going to compete with the two rans or just. He actually landed pretty short considering the weight. He overshot the line a little, but it still won’t touch down as slow.

What was that turbo 2 stroke? Saw a glimpse of it in Trents video. It's sick!! That is definitely the best sounding plane imo. Awesome! And yea Trent's newer set up is hurting his performance some. He still was rusty, i know he can get it stopped quicker than that. But the D\A is hard to adjust to.

Good friend told me on the phone last night he wasn't impressed with the TO performance of Steve Henry's new turbo Yamaha in this vid, so I looked it up today to see for myself. After watching gotta admit I too was expecting more - Like VTO, lol. I think he took off in 57' last year with a NA Yamaha (with my Mohawk Aero Co. gearbox adapter on it) that cost a fraction of this engine - and he won every STOL contest at Oshkosh plus Grand Champ. Steve's TO here looks a lot longer than that, and although his mains are clear at 75' his tail wheel leaves the ground at 100'. Ah, well, then again maybe he just doesn't have the luck o' the Irish from running MAC equipment like he did last year... Wish I was at Oshkosh today instead of working. Nice to see Hal bounce back from the EO and then do so well, that little Rotax gets him clean off in 75' here.

On Trent's landing approach, was that beeping his ground proximity warning? If so, damn that thing's loud! It gets a bit annoying with onboard footage. But hey, safety first! A volume control would be handy. It sounds just like the reversing sensor I installed on my Dad's ute (short for utility for those wondering wtf, (truck for Americans!)) which had poor rear visibility due to the bed canopy. It didn't have any volume control, just loud beeps with differing frequency, to let you know how close an obstacle was. But it suited my Dad fine as his hearing wasn't the best anyway!😄
