tyler confirmed vignette is a song about addiction, "when taking substances, lucidity, clarity and purpose are gradually obscured like a vignette" the person in the song is an addict in denial, he started using again and trying to cling to the promise to stop using- desperately and helplessly fighting the drug's effects, fighting the vignette. but he ends up crumbling, his vision fading as the substance takes over his body. His consciousness swallowed by the vignette. Very sad song and if you read all the lyrics they are all related to addiction.

During the livestream I initially thought Josh's face in the snow was a funny reveal, but seeing it again I think Josh is a symbol of the music they create together, the bigger picture. A vignette is an effect that only shows a snapshot or a piece of the whole picture (in literature and in photography), and I connect with this as a metaphor for my own struggles with anxiety and depression leading me to focus on all of the bad thoughts and spiral into despair. But when I step back after an episode (a relapse, a binge,...) I can see the bigger picture of my life and appreciate what has come out of it. My relationships today, my passions, my own art, are an amalgamation of all my experiences. When I'm in the thick of a bad episode, I do have affirmations and promises I tell myself to hang on longer. "This is a bad day and it will pass," "I am loved and worth it," "Everything is going to be okay, I'm safe." God this is such an incredible song. I don't want to speculate about Tyler's own life experiences and theorize about him, but this track is a standout to me and hits so close to my battle with suicidality and giving up.

The flow of singing on the chorus sounds the same as on The Pantaloon!

"I wish I found some better sounds no one's ever heard" of course i knew a song or two from TØP, however Clancy ended up being my entrance album in May 2024. it's bittersweet because i can't help but think this is indeed their best work to date as i delve into the past albums. I'm mostly a metalcore fan and Vignette just keeps pushing the right buttons for me. this has to be one of the most beautiful pop songs of this century. thank you Tyler and Josh. you guys are the underground that the mainstream craves so much. this art of yours is simply restoring. 🇧🇷🧡

I know this song isn't about sexual abuse, at least Tyler said it wasn't on the Livestream. However, I am a survivor of abuse, and this hit me very hard. That's how I used to feel before I could slowly start my healing process: like a zombie, afraid of being touched, isolating myself from my friends... All while promising myself that one day I wouldn't feel this way.

As a person who was an addict for a couple years I can deeply identify with this song. I’ve been clean for 4 years but sometimes I look back in time and remember what I was feeling back then. My hands used to shake all the time, I couldn’t sleep and it was really hard to accept that I was actually an addict. It was a really messed up experience but today I see it as a prove of how strong I can be, because I got clean all by myself and the courage and willpower that it takes is really difficult to get 😪
