I was still deciding whether I liked or loathed Okafor, but yeah, I definitely found him an interesting character and wanted to see more of him, so I'm disappointed he was killed off so quickly. I guess now I'm just hoping that his death is critical to the plot going forward and that he wasn't simply a character they introduced to serve a brief purpose only to then be discarded. I like Thorne so far and think she's interesting. With Okafor dead, if Rick now runs off with Michonne I'm wondering if Thorne will be tasked with hunting them down - will she become our key antagonist this season? Will she be friend or foe?.... Looking forward to finding out.

Okafor's speech cadence sounded like he was doing an impression of Ving Rhames. 😆 Very distracting. Good actor otherwise.

Does she not understand that he said multiple times that if Rick tried to leave Okafor would’ve had to go kill him, Michonne, and every body that knew about the crm

If I don't repeat something multiple times it doesn't mean I don't understand it, it means I think my viewers are smart enough to understand it themselves, but apparently not.

Yeah, it seemed that way. Like she didn't get why Thorne and Okafor kept pushing Rick.

The reason the CRM doesn't let people leave is because they are working on a solution for the Walkers, and the military is sustaining the city of Philadelphia and protecting the city from outside threats so their work can continue. That is why they have outposts like the one in New York in World Beyond, which was doing research on the reanimation process. This was explained in Word Beyond by Jadis and Lt. Colonel Kublic, Huck's mother, as well as Lyla, the scientist dating Dr. Benet.

  • @Skellanuts

If you saw the episode "end of everything" season 5 of fear the walking dead it explains why you can't leave once you know about the CR. Also in World Beyond, it explains in great detail how much the CR doesn't even try to be discovered. Operational security. If no one can find you, they won't try and look for you or even know where to start. If you see a helicopter going over and you want to follow it, well, you don't know if they are coming from the CR or leaving the CR on a mission. Either way, Rick was flown to their location, and now that he is there, they can't let him leave because of the simple fact he knows their location. They would kill him without a second thought if it wasn't for Okafor. Frankly this is one of my favorite episodes of all time of the entire walking dead trilogy thus far. I guess it's because I have wanted to know more about the CRM since season 8 back in like 2017 or so. I think the definitely delivered so far.

How did you just miss the intentions and whys half this episode. If you would understand you'd get Thorne and Okafor too. They were trying so hard to help Rick. It's not their fault that the rule is that no one can leave. Trying to escape constantly would've killed Rick. They pushed him to accept his fate to survive... And she had people to go back to as well.... Also there were a lot of connections but looking at your meaningless face sometimes said it all. There is a reason the CRM won't take chances and won't let anyone go. It's humanity that depends on it. At this point I don't expect you to know that they are about to make a cure and save everyone. As dark as it is, for humanity it is logical what they are doing. Someone has to decide and them with having access to all that stuff they've probably seen that noone else could do it in the world. What Rick does, for him it is also understandable. But yeah that's the thing. If you just like to know and care about that one side of the story then I suggest you stop watching and watch fairytales instead. The other spinoffs were amazing too and I am saying this while I think the mainshow lately wasn't as great and the other spinoffs had a lot of issues. But these newer ones, yeah, you probably missed the point half of the time like here if you thought they were meh...

What makes you think I don't understand any of that? I didn't feel the need to repeat everything they said, but aparently that's not clear enough for some viewers. If I don't say anything you think I don't understand, if I do say stuff about it you people would say I should pay more attention to the show. I'm starting to think reaction videos are just not your thing, no shame in just watching the show and leaving it with that. The way you're talking this serious about having to stick to fairytale shows, while you're literally talking about a show that has zombies says enough. To me the most interesting thing about this show and maybe even this episode was to see Rick and Michonne together again after so much time. You know why? because we already know most of the stuff these people are doing and what they stand for, so why should I keep commenting on that? I was looking at it from Rick's point of view, doesn't mean I don't understand why it makes sense what they're doing, but as a fan of the old characters that's the way I'm looking at it right now, why I was rooting for Rick and that's the way I was commenting on it. Stop making assumptions.

I saw many of the comments before watching this review. I’m glad I watched anyway. You gave an honest review and I appreciate that. I had the same reaction to Thorne’s character that you had. I didn’t like her at all. But overall, I loved the episode. I would not have believed Rick would give up on returning to Michonne and Alexandria if they hadn’t shown how hard he tried to get back to them. And it made that moment when he burned the pictures and letters that much more poignant. I’m looking forward to your reaction to the next episode.

I prefer the Negan/Maggie characters but I prefer the story of the Daryl Dixon show. I like the fresh location of Europe, the music, the tone. Dead City was beautifully shot as well but I'm over the Negan/Sanctuary storyline and the Maggie revenge tour storyline.

She did have enough hope to question escape at the very least. But as she said (I sadly don't recall her name) "You showed me I can't get away". I think she was trying to convince Rick because he had recently convinced her that her hope maybe futile. I think in her own way, she felt like she owed Rick.

5:00 The moment it finally made me question if someone connected with this show has a thing about amputations. Merle, Hershel, the return of Merle, the threat against Carl, Aaron, Lydia... Rick. 15:16 I find it amusing that you are suspicious enough to think that there will be surveillance cameras monitoring a park in this world. My suspicions are that there are far better uses the military and civilian governments in place for surveillance cameras and electricity than constantly monitoring a park, in a city where almost nobody is trying to escape. It's not like they seem to have a camera manufacturing facility, so it's been well over 10 years since a camera was manufactured.

Rick is supposed to have 1 missing hand, it is that way in the comic books, but that fate was given to aaron in the tv series, i guess now they wanted to do it the right way (:

Rick’s hand is fan service for the comic readers because the Governor cut it off early in the series and it became part of Rick’s image. I hated that they did it at first because I was never a fan of book Rick loosing his hand, until he got cool new tactical hand 😊

@@Clairejart It also served a narrative purpose, showing that the CR is so hard to escape that Rick was forced to take extreme measures..... and still failed to get away. It demonstrates why Rick never got back to his family despite us knowing that he'd do anything he could to do so.
