Amazing, stylish. Just booked a night to go there and enjoy. $300 / night is NOT expensive for a NY hotel--especially an amazing one like this, and the food at their restaurant is priced o.k. too considering the star chef.
Brings back my memory of returning home from Vietnam on May 8th 1970 (TWA Flight 84 from San Francisco).

The whole place is super cool, from the architecture to the retro theme. Glad it’s been preserved. The short term rental is a great idea, allowing some time to clean up and relax either before or after a flight.
I bet Eero Saarinen (the creator behind this beautiful building, as well as one of my most favorite architects of all time) is probably smiling down on us right now for, not only saving this place; but also returning it to it's near-original state and look!
I love it. when I was little, we use to live close by JFK and i use to lay on the grass in the back yard and watch the planes take off. I mean you see the wheels fold. I am so fascinated with Airplanes. I could be riding in a car and when i see an airplane go up, I still get excited and I'm 50 years old now lol... Thanks for sharing this. I will be checking this out once I move back to NYC this year. By the way, I searched what to do in NYC and your "What not to do in NYC" video popped up. So I've been binge-watching your videos to get ideas. I haven't lived in NYC for 15 years. Thank you for sharing these videos
I have vivid memories of flying in and out of the TWA terminal when it was TWA's hub at JFK. I'm delighted it is revived and can't wait to visit/stay. Well done.

I'm about 60, I was there as a child in the late 60's. I particularly remember the arched walkway. Also on that excursion, I remember somewhere there in Manhattan, my dad pointing out, an elevator with buttons that didn't move. They lit from the body heat of your finger. Something we wouldn't even think about today.
Great idea! Fun to go back in time. Will definitely like to check it out. btw, Adriana looking absolutely breathtaking.
Your videos are absolutely wonderful, just HAD TO SUBSCRIBE, YES!
Wow ! Great video ! Yes, plane spotters and retro people will indeed want to stay there. That TWA hotel took an incredible amount of work and money to complete. It looks fantastic ! The prices seem akin to high-end luxury hotels in Chicago and Toronto. Your room was very top drawer ! The mini bar, shower, luxury bed, décor, and sound proofing would satisfy most savvy travelers. I, myself, would be fascinated observing the planes and making drinks from the deluxe bar. I am sure time would fly (so to speak) and I wouldn't have time enough to try all the amenities in one night. Cheers ! ❤❤❤✈✈✈
Amazing Video!! Keep it Up!

Growing up, my brother worked for American Airlines. So, we frequent JFK to hang out and I remember walking through TWA Terminal on Sundays basically hanging out. No worries for Free.
Thank you so much for doing a video on this! So excited to click on it when it popped up on my KZread feed. I would love to go see it, have a drink, take pictures etc just because I'm a huge mid century modern fan & I adore the architecture!😍 I'm SO glad they chose not to destroy this building!💕 It's rather spendy, yes, but given how much they spent to restore it & turn it into a hotel...they gotta recoup it somehow😂
I will definitely be staying there/gifting the experience to my father!! We just lost my grandfather who worked for TWA and as a big airlines family I know this will just pull at my dad's heart strings.

Cool video who would have thought an airport could be so awesome
stayed there for the first time back in april. Prior to that i never heard about it or the airlines all together. This hotel was EVERYTHING! i loved the retro feel it almost felt like a museum. Theres a selfie booth and everything. I never experienced anything like it. Going back for sure
Plane spotters would LOVE this place!
Excellent video review as usual. I would never stay there. But your recommendation for a walk through was good. I don’t want to say my age, but used that terminal a few times in the late 90’s. I always hated that long up hill ramp. It was a bitch to walk with you luggage. (No wheels back then). Keep them coming.
I’ve never been but I’ve always been in love with it, it’s been on my list of places I want to go... I never thought I’d be able to before they tore it down someday. I was so excited when I heard they were reopening it, my dreams of getting there are back to life again!!
Just great ❤️from England 🏴

Agree with you on the whole things..yet to go in and out of Manhattan with 300++ per night is pretty steep!
Cant wait to book a room! Loved this building from the first time i flew on TWA to Frankfurt. Prices seem on par for New York. Personally, would rather be surrounded by people who appreciate the glamour and history than folks looking for a cheap drink and meal.
They should have done it to the PANAM terminal too!
They did a really cool job with those retro features throughout
Awesome❤❤❤
Beautiful retro experience and historic hotel. I'd stay there in a New York minute
Amazing idea for the hotel. I read online that the food court was closed for grossly failing their first health inspection, which is why it was probably closed the day you stayed.
I wish kindly your 9lkh subscriber bro
I will be in NYC in June and I am making a stop at the TWA Hotel. I will be staying in Times Square but I want to have food and drinks.

Cool video be careful about those mini bars some hotels have sensors on it if you move that bottle you will have to pay for it
It looked like you were living your best life at Connie, hehe! I would definitely stay here the night before a big trip abroad especially Asia trips which tend to have flights that leave earlier in the day. Or as a tourist arriving from places like Rio where flights get in 6-7am and hotels in the city generally aren’t available yet. So the 4 hour stay you mentioned would be reasonable in such a circumstance. Thanks for this honest opinion of the TWA hotel.
love you New York city bro
The lobby was pretty cool. I would go just to walk around during a layover.

An easy option as well
Spent the night in a spectacular Executive Suite the first weekend it debuted last month. Unfortunately, the pool wasn’t yet open but I loved the rest of the hotel with the Connie Cocktail Lounge a highlight!
Do you think the organization takes into account that since many items in these rooms with the 'TWA' logo will 'walk away', that these losses are priced into the room?
You should review 1 HOTEL BROOKLYN BRIDGE with views of manhattan and BK bridge / city views rooms are amazing. The windows open up creating a terrace feeling with amazing views !!
Have you seen prices for a room in nyc? $330 isn’t outrageous. Especially during the week.

@@HereBeBarr John...First off...great video and sorry for the long response! As someone who uses JFK a lot as a transit airport. I can see many advantages to staying here...even given the price. First off, it is the ONLY on-airport hotel in all of JFK. That is a huge advantage if your onward flight is cancelled or you are laying over for an early morning flight. All other "JFK Hotels" are actually not on airport grounds, most are 2-5 miles away, and require a hotel shuttle to get you there (this, after having to take the Airtrain a few stops to where the hotel shuttles are.) So...getting to any other airport hotel is kind of a hassle...compared to this. Also...the aforementioned hotels are located in fairly desolate areas (i.e. not a lot within walking distance) and are pretty old/outdated and not very well kept properties. Lastly...in my experience, these other airport hotels are usually around $259 a night and up (based on availability...I've paid over $300 when there's bad weather and lots of flights are cancelled.) So in comparison...$333 is not all that awful. Given the (eventual) food choices, ease of getting there, newness and cleanliness of facility, and ease of terminal access, I would say that for me, this seems like a decent option...but as you said YMMV! Keep up the great work!
Cool!
Yeah I'd have to take a pass on staying there. At least till they're open long enough to work out the bugs. As always, thanks for the informative and entertaining video BarrioBrother! Oh.......and Adriana's hair looks MAAAARVELOUS! Take care.

$$$..since it's in the belly of the beast at JFK.Airport. The wing building is a landmark. Great concept to turn it into a hotel but not using 1962 prices. Great presentation. Thanks for sharing this on KZread.
I won't go until the pool deck is finished, that'll be awesome!!!
Looks pretty interesting. If I was visiting New York for 4 days, Iets say from thursday to sunday,I would stay on a thursday and then go to a regular hotel or airbnb and then enjoy the rest of the city. The experience would be more for a married couple, as for the price I wouldn't really care honestly. Cheers
The Saarinen building is my favorite. I agree, it didn’t seemed finished with the rebranding though. Phone booths with missing phones, bare wires on the ceiling without light fixtures, they need to get their act together to make this look complete. I did hear this was a soft opening, and the actual opening is this Fall, so hopefully the work will be complete. The food court was very bare and dull. It needs to be vibrant and exciting. So much modern art could be on display throughout the building.
I'm actually glad that this beautiful iconic -- as well as even HISTORIC -- airport terminal is being reused again! If you're aviation or an aviation geek; this is the place for you! If you're into Mid-Century modernism (like I kinda am); this place is ALSO for you! If you're a big history buff (which I'm also kinda); this place is AS-WELL ALSO for you! They just don't make buildings like this that much -- especially airport terminals -- like this anymore. It's definitely one-of-a-kind if you think about it.
That is so awesome, it seriously is a modern day time machine when you walk through those doors. I would have seriously thought you were on a legit flight. That would have been funny if the bed was a water bed.

Be sure to get a TWA T-shirt!
I remember the days I used to flip through the large LIFE magazine. Then I was 6 years old. My uncle was working with USIS, Chennai, India. I know TRANS World Atlantic airlines, a symbol of US airlines those days. Mainly CARAVELLI used to be the air crafts operated by most of airlines. It is surprising to see TWA is still there but in a different form.
Trans World Airlines. So. Cool! It’s beautiful! Thank you so much for showing this. I would never pay that much to stay there. Maybe they will smarten up and lower their prices.

have you ever tried to book a room in Manhattan? These prices are cheap.
I am an Aviation geek and I would stay there definitely. The food isn’t really worth paying for but there are other places around Kennedy Airport. The only other thing that I would recommend is a memorial for TWA flight 800.
Totally worth $300 for a room if you get there early enough and have time to take it all in and hang out. I have a room booked in September for one night before my trip. Getting there at check in time and not leaving until check out time. I can't wait!
i wanna go there so bad and kick back at the pool and do plane spotting,, have a drink in a Connie!!! aviation geek heaven.... was there as a passenger when my family went on a trip to italy in the late 70's
love from India bro
This reminds me of BDL airport in Ct. I was born there, in New Britain. The check in concourse was parallel to the tarmac, and you could go to the airport upon check in for your flight and watch planes take off for hours, it was quite close in fact. Then the red carpet. The carpet going from the old security gate to the gates was red, and had that old style decor. Back then, you really did not have that strict a security presence in the airport, neither did you have later on in MIA. You could get right to the gates and the planes. I spent a lot of time as a kid flying from BDL to MIA. And you got a WINGS pin, we used to get them as kids, we used to fly that corridor on Eastern way back when. I remember BDL being that old style 1960's into the 70's decor. Interesting video. But like you said $300.00 + p/night is a bit steep, and $26.00 for a burger, that is highway or better yet airport robbery ... My barrio shirt is en route to me right now. Can't wait for it to arrive. Will Insta it soon.
Apparently the food court was briefly shut down because of a failed health inspection, or 'renovation' lol. I was there on opening day (total coincidence, we flew back from our NYC vacation that day and just wanted to check out the TWA terminal, no idea it got turned into a hotel!) and it was super cool to see. Now I understand the crowds and camera crews. I would never stay there with the current prices though but definitely check it out if you've got time to spare at JFK.

Great point
As a former airline employee (Northwest) I would like to see the lobby of the TWA Hotel but it strikes me that you have to go out of your way to get to the hotel. JFK doesn't seem like it's easy to get to, especially from the midwest (we live in Cincinnati). Plus, unless you're flying out the next day to Europe, the Middle East, or points beyond, what would be the point? Still, it would be a lot of fun to see the lobby, the click board, and have a "liquidifier" (aka "adult beverage") in Connie! Thanks for making this video! I very much enjoyed it!
I’ll be there in late December, will that plane bar still be open in the winter months?
That's a nice hotel ever!
Nice video. Really amazing what they did. Brings back memories for me, as I worked in that terminal for many years. Some parts look exactly the same as I left it 25 years ago. There would be no hotel, if it wasn't for the efforts of a great man, and America's MAYOR, RUDY GUILIANI. The Port Authority had plans to tear it down, but RUDY had it declared a landmark. BTW, I lost a 20 dollar bill in the locker room, in 1995, if you find it, let me know.

Yes, just check it out on in general.
What a unique hotel experience. I don’t think the price is bad, considering that it is New York, and a nice boutique hotel experience like that in Manhattan would cost that much or more, wouldn’t it? I actually think that it would be fun to take young kids if they like planes (my nephew is obsessed with trains, for example, and my brother rented a hotel in DC that overlooked a train yard and my nephew went nuts for it). Or even without kids, it might be fun to stay there one night on the way in or out of the city just to soak up the retro vibe. That $26 burger is bonkers, though.
Totally agree with you Jon - it looks cool but its definitely overpriced!

HImayan Outlander is JFK still a Clusterfuck of construction bullshit hell? Or is it getting better? Because LaGuardia is still a cluster fuck of bullshit hell and construction.
It looks a great hotel (I really miss the old fashioned flipping tile boards in airports!) but sadly a bit gimmicky so most likely wouldn’t be somewhere for more than one night
Boy did this hotel bring back memories. Even the sound of the arrival and departure board cause me to have a little bit of a flashback of the early 70s walking through that terminal as a kid. I AM a little disappointed in the hotel room. I was expecting it to look even more retro than what you had. But with that said, I do think the view of the tarmac and watching the planes taking off is pretty cool. I think I too would be sitting there for a long while just watching it as they happens. Would I spend that kind of money if I had that kind of money to burn for the heck of it? I don't think so. Something feels lacking. Something's missing. Not sure what it is but it still doesn't totally and completely feel like TWA at JFK in the 60s and 70s. I know, I know, it's not a theme park and I shouldn't expect it to be so. But it is a themed hotel. I think they need to do a little bit more for guests to get the full submissive experience.

It definitely needs affordable food options! Otherwise people will just get food in the regular terminals. Is there a shuttle between the hotel and the main terminals at JFK? Or is it connected to them? They have to make it convenient for passengers flying in and out of JFK. I think the only people who will book rooms will be people who are stuck between flights and can afford $300+ per night. JFK probably has a cheap Ramada right there so it will be hard for TWA Hotel to compete Anyway very interesting video!
