Nowadays is common for kpop groups to debut in japan and release japanese songs, but back then it wasnt a thing at all. Culturally, there was a lot of tension between japanese and koreans caused by the war and no group had ever attempted to persue the japanese market. TVXQ was basically throw in there with no preparations whatsoever. They didnt have a team ready to help with any issues a korean group could have in japan, because nobody knew what kind of issues would there be. They had no translators, and had to learn japanese to sing and communicate with fans and hosts and promote there. It was incredible tough, they craved their path (and everybody followed then) from scratch, soloist Kwon Boa went through the same during the same time. The Proud performance was so emotional because for the first time, after 2 years promoting in japan, they managed to perform in on of the biggests japanese stages, therefore creating a sense of success after so much hardwork and suffering.

Im not a cassie but i have to admit that this group is undeniably the best kpop group i've heard. I mean listen to those harmonies, their high and bass notes is absolutely flawless. Each of them can sing really well. They set the standard so high that no one comes close to them. Such a shame i just found them recently. Jaejoong stole my heart the moment i heard and watched him. All of the song you reviewed are my jam 💗

Mirotic is one of those songs that's just timeless. It does have a western sound and for me it was one of the songs that really eased my transition into Kpop. That 'I got you under my skin' line just sticks with you. 'Hot Guy' is Jaejoong. His visual is still outstanding and blonde Jaejoong is a whole other level.

Hi, welcome to cassiopella , I'll give you a brief summary of what happened in the "Proud" song. They after their debut in 2004-2005 became super popular in South Korea and a year and a half later after getting a lot of popularity and having a fan base that was growing day by day they went to Japan leaving everything behind. This move was the work of their manager and they practically started from scratch. Nobody knew them, their first presentations they mentioned in an interview that their microphones did not work very well, the places where they performed did not have the conditions they were used to and they were many times on the verge of giving up. But their perseverance and determination was really impressive and the concert you saw in that song was the last song of the concert because they had already retired, but the public began to call them to the stage. After the 2 years of arriving in Japan they could really feel that they had achieved the recognition and fame they deserved. That's why everything becomes so emotional during the song, it was a way of saying that they achieved their goal. Sorry if I went on too long. Welcome to Cassiopella again!

They were crying because finally they can have a concert there (budoukan venue, japan, 2007). They start from 0 in japan back then in 2005, they only have a few fans at that time, because of their hardwork, they finally gain their popularity in 2007 so they were happy they can have a concert there (budoukan was 1 of the biggest concert venue at that time), they were reminded by the hard situation that's why yoochun was crying. Sorry for my bad english Fyi, japan korea relationship was'nt good at that time, tvxq makes the relationship between the 2 country start again

Thank you for the fantastic reaction to TVXQ's music video! I truly enjoyed watching it. I want to share additional context about the emotional scene you discussed in the video "Proud". During that moment, TVXQ was performing in Japan for the first time, and their tears symbolized the culmination of an incredible journey. In the early days, foreign boy bands faced immense challenges in holding concerts in Japan. TVXQ started from scratch, singing on staircases in department stores with only 10 to 20 audience members, mostly Koreans. Despite their popularity in Korea, they were virtually unknown in Japan, and they had to navigate learning Japanese, adapting to a new culture, language, and a place where no one knew them. This struggle made the concert so emotionally significant for them, representing their dedication and hard work. This performance marked a remarkable milestone for TVXQ, reflecting their growth and success. The deep connection they felt to the song was rooted in the hardships they faced while paving their way in Japan. Once again, thank you for your reaction, and I hope this additional information enhances your appreciation for the profound emotions captured in that moment. If possible, I'd love to see your reaction to Junsu's mesmerizing voice and Jaejoong singing a rock song in the future!

JAEJOONG RECOMMENDATIONS BELOW!) For a long time I denied having a bias and claimed to love them all (which I did haha) but my family and friends all knew my bias was Jaejoong. I came from the rock scene before I got into kpop and Jaejoong has a rockish quality to his voice and it turns out he always wanted to sing rock. He was born to be a rock star! Here are some great recommendations for his solo stuff. Some when he was still in TVXQ and others more recent as a solo artist! Recommend live performances for all of these. •Footsteps •Maze •It's only my world*** •Glamorous Sky *** •Mine •My Only Comfort •Rotten Love*** •Now is Good (fun fact he said this is most like his natural voice/easy to sing. His lighter singing voice is more of a strain on him) •Run Away •Sign*** •BPM •Broken Mirror

Finally finished watching this. Cried at a few songs because it reminded me of the early days where I discovered SJ and TVXQ. I don't think I have a fixed vocal bias in this group, lol. Jaejoong is beautiful and he was like my #1 visual in Kpop if I'm being objective lol, but then his voice has this haunting quality which I love so much! Junsu also won me over with his raspiness/squeaks/emotiveness and Yoochun put up a fight with his deep voice and esp in live singing he just gets lost in the song. And if you think about it, these three actually sum up parts of Yesung's voice (my ult vocal bias) that I really love so I guess it's no surprise.

I am only 17 minutes into your video and I just want to say WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF TVXQ! I followed them since 2008 and now that they split, it's hard to follow everyone individually (lol money costs) but I watch Junsu the most. He is the top musical actor in Korea now and after he, Yoochun and Jaejoong were blacklisted on TV for the past decade after they left TVXQ, Junsu finally is able to come back on broadcast TV recently. His talent is so amazing though that even a ban did not hide his prowess. Jaejoong is also doing superbly well, especially in Japan. Yoochun got into some trouble but is doing well now in Bangkok! In fact, he is having a mini live concert every month until Feb 2023 as part of a series on the 4th Wednesday of every month! Try to catch them live - you will not regret it! Junsu especially - his singing goes straight to my heart and I try to watch him every year if I can, even if it means I have to fly to see him!

You're such a smart and engaging reactor and i can feel how you were sincerely taken by tvxq. I'm so happy you found and appreciate them because they are a real vocal powerhouse. I have never loved a group as much as i love tvxq and it still pains me to think that i cannot hear them sing together again. My biggest regret was i wasn't able to watch them live since they didn't visit my country. It hurt a lot when they split up because they were not able to recreate the magic separately. My bias was yoochun and i love his voice too although i practically went through all the members before finally settling on him (i hope no one will comment negatively to this. Let the issue rest). As for them singing live, it was the result of being in Japan for years. Japanese audience are big into live singing and the boys were trained to do it all the time (except sometimes for heavily choreographed numbers). Re Mr Handsome, you may be interested to watch his solo concerts which lean more towards rock. And Jaejoong often performed shirtless 😉. And yeah, he's still Mr Visual Shock even now. You mentioned about his rapping in Wrong Number. If i'm not mistaken, that was the first time he rapped and he was quite insecure about it. Yunho and Yoochun were the rappers of the group though their songs only had a few rap lines. When they sang Proud, they cried because they were thankful for the support that Japanese fans gave them. It was not easy for them to leave for Japan and start anew after achieving success in Korea but they did it after much hard work. They practically became a Japanese boy group - Tohoshinki. I just subscribed to your channel and i'm looking forward to more reactions not just to TVXQ as a whole but also their solo works and even JYJ (Jaejoong Yoochun Junsu) and TVXQ2.

Mirotics was written by Danish composers (thus the really Western sound) and sold to SM to be released in the East and to German singer Sarah Connor to be released in the West. I'm German and Sarah Connor is (used to be) really famous here, but I only came to know about her release after a friend played the DBSK version in front of a fan of hers who recognised the song. Her version is not bad, and I was quite surprised that her version did not really make it; can't recall a single time I heard it being played on the radio even after knowing now that it exists. Next to 2PM's heartbeat, Big Bang' Fantastic Baby and Super Juniors's Sorry Sorry, I count it to the most iconic K-Pop Disco boy band songs. I was recommended Why did I fall in love with you by a Japanese friend. The song was super popular in Japan at the time. It's actually hard to sing even if you know the language, because certain phrases are so fast. But the doushite kimi o suki ni natte shimattan darou? (Why did I falls in love with you) part has gotten pretty much of a cult status. DBSK is the first Korean group who really made it outside of Korea and toppen the Japanese charts and managed to gain a certain popularity in China, even before Suju than completely blew up the borders. You may really want to see Xia Junsu's Tarangatella. Best description I've heard for this: "How did this song escape the Korean youth control? Was the responsible officer asleep when giving it a pass?"

Mitotic is such a timeless song! I love it so much when it came out and it still remains my top 3 TVXQ song ever (Tri-angles is another must-watch if you haven't). Composition wise, vocals wise, it is better than Sorry Sorry (bec Sorry Sorry is really more abt following the trend at the time which is auto-tune) and the sound was really fresh! But Sorry Sorry is the Kpop national anthem; the iconic reach and influence of that song during its time (and still have till today) is something Mirotic didn't quite reach.

fisrt: I mean, I DEFINITELY recommend listening to 이별아 (Farewell ah). The recording of this song, performed by five members, was released eight (approximately?) years after their separation. It's a damn beautiful song. If you read the lyrics (there are lyrics on KZread), it seems to reflect these feelings of loss. It suits them very well and it really makes me cry so much. Looking at this marathon of reactions for an hour, I felt like I was back in the 2000s. I experienced emotions those emotions when I myself only found out about them. This is really discouraging. I love them for so long, but your reaction made me feel like going back in time and loving them again. And I love what you said about their performance so much. Studio recordings are really not that. Is it like there is too empty? Too few emotions. They are too clean and sterile, even if it sounds nice. But in such songs, I appreciate the emotions during the performance. Trembling of the voice, tears in the eyes, body movements while singing. In general, instrumental music is just for the background, all the work is done by their voices and their performance of the song. They really feel and convey these stories. And so they have entire albums of live performances. And I'm so glad you liked wrong number. hahah This is such an underrated song! This has been my ringtone for a very, very long time. Phones replace each other with newer ones, but music is eternal. I think they don't have many fun songs compared to something that will break your heart. 🤣 But: balloons, survivor, share the world, hi ya ya, phantom, clap!, summer dream Kiss the baby sky, stand by u - very touching and sweet songs. As for what could potentially keep breaking hearts, it's the lives: Taxi, Holding back the tears, Forever love, Begin, Sennen koi uta, Day moon, Don't say goodbye, asu wa kuru kara, miduhyo, wasurenaide, picture of you, Thousand Years Love Song, Kiss Shita Mama, Sayonara and ect. If we are not talking about ballads (live/recordings): Darkness Eyes, 9095, All In Vain (Lots of Yoochun and sounds just great and unusual for them), Million Men, Love After Love, Get me some, Dangerous Mind, Force, Are You a Good Girl?, Try My Love Oh god, I need to stop. They have too many songs. And as already advised, you can listen to a selection of their a cappella. Why do they need music? If you want to listen to a JUST INCREDIBLE rendition of the song love in the ice from one Junsu, then this should definitely be live 150407 XIA FLOWER CONCERT in NAGOYA - 김준수 ジュンス Love in the ice or 150331 XIA 준수 ジュンス FLOWER Concert in Fukuoka - Love in the Ice And there is so much to say about them. About all together, about each separately, about a trio, about a duet. Singers, artists, no one got lost. Jaejoong's songs are amazing, his live performances are amazing. Junsu too. Yoochun performs very well. His songs are really interesting. The duet's songs are great. Changmin and Yunho solo work? wow. I think that in one place there are simply not enough words. There is a lot to share. Such a volume cannot be digested immediately. I mean, I have over 1k tracks in my playlist. five, trio, duet, solo. And that's not even all the songs! But again, most importantly, thank you for the amazing reviev. p.s. Good quality live / mv / with subtitles can be found on the channels: Evergreen 5nly, Nam Changmin, daburu, MERO_MEW, DreamyCassie and others.

Here is the playlist (HD + eng subtitle): kzread.info/head/PL7UMmWqDlOQTNu2Ybg516QsPrYuMfgxoG&EKLEiJECCKjOmKnC5IiRIQ TVXQ is not a normal group, literally. They are BOTH J-pop group and K-pop group. So technically, Mirotic and Wrong Number were actually sung DBSK (Dong Bang Shin Ki - their initial name in Korean). Bolero and Love in the Ice were sung by THSK (Tohoshinki- their name in Japan). TVXQ is their official name and it is widely used by international. The translation of the group name was "Rising Gods of the Easts" and indeed, these 20 years old guys were gods of the asian music industry at that time. There are so much more stories about this group but firstly please enjoy that playlist from the greatest and last ever concert of 5 member together.

!!! I wasn't expecting another TVXQ video so soon after the first one! I haven't watched this yet either and will be back to comment again when I have, but thank you already! ❤️❤️❤️ And I was lucky enough to be at that concert when they performed Proud and everyone was crying, including me. 😭 It cemented them as my all time favourite group and they still are, even now. ❤️

I dont have all their album but i bought all their live DVD and I remember they become comentator on their previous concert it's so hilarious to hear they teased each other,, on their Proud performanxe they also commented that that year they finally fully understand japanese language that time and the meaning of that song really goes to their heart or something😊 i remember Changmin mocked Yoochun and Junsu crybaby😂

thank u for reacting to them again 🤗 they're KINGs of harmony n adlibs, hell KINGs of the whole vocals.. I think they're the only group back then who divided their positions by vocals range 🥰 Mr. Handsome is Jaejoong, n yes he's still active.. in fact, he's on tour now!!! he juzz came to ma country lazz month, n I finally able to hear his heavenly voices live 😍 as soloist, Jaejoong rocking side is the most wonderful side.. ma bias is Mr. Electric, Junsu 🤭 he's still ma number 1 vocalist in the music industry itself.. still hoping I'll get to hear him live one day.. I've heard Jaejoong, Yunho n Changmin live, n all 3 of them slay!!! 🔥 I'm loving all their songz, but among these, Love in the Ice is the QUEEN..

They are the first kpop group I ever know their songs.. Here are some suggestions : Purple line, Rising sun, Triangle, O, Are you good girl, Hug, Hey don't bring me down, keep you head down, catch me, something, chance of love, forgotten season, dangerous mind, spellbound

  • @eleelephant00

Interestingly, BToB also loves them. Sungjae usually sings their songs in random videos/norebang, and the group also covered Bolero in a Japanese concert of theirs some years ago. They really are fans too, so I think they'd really be happy to be compared.

Ey so long not to see you. Happy to see you and know you are doing well. Ok Here I am because I absolutely love Kim Jaejoong ( thought he abused a lot of cirguries ) and yes Junsu and Yoochun are just amazing ... when these 3 separated from TVXQ they form JYJ group ... their live performances are out of this world. I am so happy remembering my 11 years of kpoper. You are knowing many groups but there will be always special ones that we never forget. TVXQ is one of them I have to admit that a cheated Kim Jaejoong when I met LJ ... but he will be among my favorites for the eternity.
