TVs 50 Greatest Magic Tricks
Ойын-сауық
TV illusionists have been sawing ladies in half catching bullets between
their teeth reading minds and performing feats of escapology for decades.
Channel 5 counts down the best including the astonishing set-pieces of Penn
and Teller the mind-bending of Derren Brown and the street magic of David
Blaine. It features spectacular illusions such as making the Statue of
Liberty disappear intimate card tricks and the lighter side of the business
thanks to the inclusion of comedy great Tommy Cooper. Paul Daniels and new kid
on the block Dynamo also feature in this magic compendium with contributions
from Joe Pasquale Dick and Dom and Stephen Mulhern.
Enjoy

ChEssManiaC 1, David's (Copperfield) od the 'Laser Illusion' was impeccable. He is a master performer who like all geniuses, is not afraid to surround himself with others who, in ways, are as or more inventive than he alone. I book, produce and promote Illusion shows and have been working with the best, over the years. And David is deservedly, a legend! And a gentleman.
I've always liked magic shows especially live performances. Starting in 1969 my wife and I enjoyed seeing the live shows in Las Vegas especially when the shows could be watched close up. You give a table captain a gambling chip of sufficient value you would get ringside seats. We saw Penn & Teller, the Pendragons, and other important and up and coming magicians of that time. The only show we walked out on early was Seigfried & Roy. They kept reminding the audience to buy their overpriced, schlock souvenirs for sale in the lobby after the show. We did not pay a hefty price for a ticket to get advertisements. We enjoyed all the other performances. 😁
I made it all the way to number 2 and was pissed off "Where's Penn & Teller's bullet catch?" Number 1 was a pleasant surprise.

Im from the future... we now have youtube premium.
Lance Burdon has that style... unbelievable man
All the death defying magic and I'm more concerned when a man tries to blend Betty, the mouse
awesome! I remember so many of these, but before penn & teller, I remember Harry Anderson.
......Teller trick-I am speechless !....
still a video I watch once in a while
I could go for the rest of my life never learning another trick, if I could just know how to do that walk on water thing Dynamo did. The other stuff was cool too, but hot damn! Of course, the greatest magic trick of all was getting me to sit here for two hours and watch without skipping to the top 10.
Im surprised nothing from Cyril Takayama was on here. Wonderful performer and he still surprises me with effects that blow me away.
This never fails to amaze me, I'd watch this video anytime.
I don't like how people hate on David Blaine. He single handedly made magic relevant again, and in a way that people could relate to at the time. On the street, with real, unsuspecting people, at the height of the reality TV craze. I didn't like his later, hiding in a box or freezing in ice spectacles, to be honest, but he did things we'd never seen before and made way for the hundreds of street magicians on KZread.

Not only did he make magic popular and fun to watch again but his physical stunts pushed the very limits of the human body. How could you not enjoy someone willing to see how long he can get without breathing or eating????

@@mustang8206 eh, just a personal preference. I want to make this clear: I'm absolutely not saying that his courage and ability to push the human body far past what most had thought possible, wasn't incredible. It was! I'm talking specifically about television content. The long, televised events with the large timer at the corner of the screen while all we saw was him still sitting in the same spot, eyes closed, while some reporter told us how many hours and minutes it's been when we can already see the clock in real-time, just wasn't interesting television for me. The beginning and end portions were certainly interesting and extremely impressive! I hope I was able to clear that up for you! 🤗
David Copperfield should've dominated this whole list. He didn't win 21 out of 38 Emmy Awards for nothing.

David Blaine is the best magician since Houdini. His tricks leave you dumbfounded in a way that no other magician does. He doesn't care about putting on some cheesy persona when he's on stage he just wants to blow your mind
Amazing tricks. Thank you so much for your excellent dramatic presentation.
penn and teller are the best magicians ever! just saw them yesterday and they still got it, great performance!
Penn and Teller are just absolute legends. It continuously baffels me how knowledgeable they are and how quickly things get picked up by these two.
Teller, David Copperfield, Lance Burton. The only three actual magician legends. The rest are forgotten or forgettable.

Ok, the one crucial detail this program has left out is David Copperfield "Flying". "But, they included that one!" you may say. Indeed they did, but that is not the amazing part of his trick. Flying on the stage is mundane. No, what was truly amazing was right after his trick, they cut to a camera outside the venue. He comes out, thanks all for watching, then flies away like superman. And that seared into my brain like an internal tattoo.
1:55:39 "What is they charged him even? For jay walking on the rivuhhh?" Gufffaw What a fucking goof!
the problem i have with the chris angel water tank trick. is the response the other magicians get. what are they talking about with trap doors and such. the tank was pushed against the wall. covering the front of the tank would allow the wall itself to be pulled up...allowing the girl to move into the front of the tank. which extends past the wall. when she is in the false wall drops back down. trick over.
#10 I remember seeing this on TV and it was so astonishing I couldn't believe it, still can't!
this video deserves to have at least 100 million

what makes me doubt the tower bridge one: a bird covered the whole lens for 1/10 seconds and then the bridge dissapeared, which allowed for a cut and moving to a greenscreen or something,

also on his next trick, with the jeep in the desert, when the car passes the lens, watch it in 0,25 speed and hold space so it goes really slow. The car jumps back 2dm at one point, a obvious cut there, giving him space to jump into the car.

There's only a small group of people shown watching it and they are all grouped tightly together. This trick is done with perspective I think. Similar to a photo of a room put in front of a camera can lead one to think the photo is actually the room. Something similar is done here I think with the aid of mirrors.
really cool~love this
These are some pretty awesome tricks
Cris Angel is such a great magician; he even manages to change the girl's initials to upper case on the coin! Genius.

The best thing about the mouse in a blender routine, is the fact that you can literally put it in there and take out another one... THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE! lmao

Awesome!!!!
I understand that this is British TV special...but they sure seemed to put the British magicians up on a pedestal. They made fun of David Copperfield a lot, but although he's cheesy, he was one of the first to truly turn a magic show into something more akin to theatre. He was one of the first to start adding theatrical story telling and drama into his pieces. The became more like performances pieces than magic tricks.
@veggiesaremurder
4 жыл бұрын
They also had a Brit explain American culture, which was not only uninformed and ignorant, but rude. He said that Brits were taught manners as if we aren't! Look up the raging problem they're having with juvenile delinquency there, and tell me if those kids would act like that for a second over here.

It might not be the most impressive trick but by far my favorite performance was Tellers misers dream
Now I learn more about magic!
its hard to say which one i would place at the top, i really loved the Tommy Cooper's Multiplying Bottles, i wouldn't put it as number one though. honestly, i think my absolute favorite one would be Harry Blackstone Jnr's Floating Lightbulb trick. i loved how he did that and it was truly magical for me.
I actually watched the whole thing :'D

The goldfish trick by Teller is my all time favorite. Maybe not the best, but def my fav.
Too much talk at the wrong moment...especially telling us what is about to happen.
I used to be impressed by these shock street magicians, with their own filming and editing. Now it's the cheesiest thing on the planet to me. I also am not a fan of the huge stage productions with all kinds of obvious props. Close up sleight of hand is still amazing.
@LunchMeatTrump

I agree. Sleight of hand requires actual skill. The other people just use gadgets and props, or edit the video to only show what they want seen. Also a lot of street magicians like Blaine and Angel use plants and stooges, which is lame.
