I get this woman is frustrated like all of us, but the explanation from the economist flew over her head. Inflation is consistent increase of goods and services over a period of time. The economist was trying to explain the rate of inflation. Note that is some quite different from inflation itself. He's saying that the reduction in rate of inflation won't reduce the prices but it reduces the rate or pace, if you will, at which prices increase.
