give whoever did the industrial design a raise, or give it to the whole team. your designs get better and better, new midi controller also looks nice but this ones especially sexy, woulda insta ordered for having big freak + beautiful synth (alas, launched with no stock).

Just got my unit. I am quite pleased overall! Honestly none of the demos really do it any justice, you really have to experiment with it to get the most out of it's sound design capabilities. Build is very solid and very easy to use and program. So far my biggest critique is that A: there is no way to pan voices and B: there is no way to map the intensity of the LFOs or cycling envelope to the mod wheel or macros. Both seem like no brainers to me. My Ensoniq ESQ-1 (which I am using as a MIDI keyboard for it) has easy ways to do both of these things. Hope a firmware update will address these points. My hope is that prospective buyers will see this so they can make an informed decision.

Well done Arturia, this is a fantastic synth! Some very intelligent design decisions, and back in the 1990s when I was mucking around with my CZ101 I would have given anything for something like this. The only down side is having a touch slider for pitch bend, which is a personal bugbear as a keyboardist, but I realise that's not the market this is aimed at. I think this will sell extremely well and could become a classic.

This really might be the best synth ever made. I've had load of analog and digital synths, but this one is something special. Almost every sound you make sounds big, even the thin sounds, it never sounds cheap. The sounds it can make from digital to analog, distorted to smooth, it's an amazing journey. I'm not saying it's the best at anything, but it's darn near in every sonic aspect, which makes it the best synth of all time for me. The amazing versatile oscillators, the great filters, combined with really solid FX makes this a winner, but the sounds are are already top noth without the FX!

Lovely presentation. Your marketing has really been great, but *one* thing I think is a little ambiguous is whether or not the VST (MiniFreak V) will be available as a stand-alone VST, meaning I can purchase it without buying the actual hardware. I've sold all my hardware and opt for software-based approach, but the MiniFreak is a must-have, and I would absolutely hate having to buy the hardware only to use the software anyway :)

Is it possible to layer sounds/presets on alternate midi channels routed through an external instrument? There are 16 midi channel inputs suggesting I should be able to use each of these independently, but currently I'm only able to make use of 1 out of 16 of those inputs. My intention is to simply use a lead sound, pad and bass routed through my external instrument simultaneously. Thanks

So happy to see a new synth in these gloomy times. It’s been ages. Thank you Arturia! A lot to love here. The UI especially. Perfect size. But like it’s little brother it’s got this "glassy" "hollow" sound that’s not very pleasing. It’s particularly noticeable on pads. No early digital warmth here. I’d think it’ll be great for scoring dark sci-fi films. Have yet to hear it sound very musical. Some great programmer may change my mind though.

This synth would shine with MPE, especially for experimental players. I am a new user, never have touched a synth in my life and need a very basic "for dummies" tutorial for the new MiniFreak I just purchased. You are assuming wrongly that a brand new novice that has never touched a synth knows all the technical jargon you are talking about, nor you fail to provide very basic information about getting started. This whole series of videos you provided are completely useless to me at this elementary stage.

Yes, you can play the MiniFreak through speakers without being connected to your computer. What I was struggling with is uploading the patches to the keyboard which you have to do virtually through the software/mirror virtual site that is included with the purchase of the keyboard. It's a 4-5 step process that I had no familiarity with and is not explained in their tutorials. But now that I learned to do that, I can get all those sounds without being hooked up to my computer.@@brenk9161

Don't waste your time with this set of videos until you reach a basic understanding of synths and familiarity with some of the technical jargon. It is a fantastic product no doubt about it, but these videos are geared more towards previous synth users because they fail to explain some very basic elementary stuff to those percentage of buyers like myself who have no previous experience.@@brenk9161
