Tutorial Part 1 | how to make a super easy no sew journal from a book | step by step

A little tutorial showing how I would make a no sew journal from a vintage book. This is super easy and a great way for a beginner to start making journals. I'm sure there are many methods, this is just my approach to it.
In this video we prepare the pages and decorate the cover.
I have been using a journal like this for my Margarete Miller 5 prompt challenge.
My playlist for that challenge:

I was drooling over your stack of stitching UFOs! I have similar stacks, but mine are all crazy bright colors. Yours are lovely. I was just stitching along with you for the entire hour. Thanks for keeping me company!

Lovely, lovely, lovely Rachel. Both your work and you. Bonnies idea about tearing out the middle of the signatures has worked really well. Thank you for sharing your time with us, if we all stick together and be positive we’ll get through this. We can do it ladies, oh and gentleman if any are watching. 💕💕💕💕💕

Your videos are a bright spot in the day. Love the stories and hearing Lulu in the background. It’s like hanging out with friends. Tomorrow night, 4 of my girlfriends and I are doing a Zoom video chat, because we can’t get together. It’s a new way of living.

Me too. Your stories keep me going. I’m poking along with a Margarete challenge at the moment but taking good note of this lovely book. Even dug out my little case of collected laces but I still have lacecutphobia. It’s a thing .

Waffle on Rachel...I truly enjoy spending time with you. I love hearing Lulu in the background and the life that children bring to a home. I am retired so just my husband and I and it can get really quiet around here. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent, family and stories. Say ‘Hi’ to Mrs. Sweeper from Canada 🤣😂. Hugs and blessings, 😊❤️

Your idea about retaining the little inside strip of each page you tear is a good one. I tried using a book and tore the pages all the way out and the book fell apart. I had weakened the structure of the binding. Your idea is genius. I hope you and yours stay safe in the midst of this pandemic.

Hi Rachel I love this idea. I'm working on a book with pockets driving me crazy with all the pockets. I like this idea better. Love the slow stich fabric on the cover. I want to do another book your style. Love it.

When the news outside is so negative and a downer it is so refreshing being able to sit at my computer and watch your videos as your craft and tell stories, for these moments I get lost in your creating and forget the woes outside my door. Thank You Rachel for all you share. You are priceless and precious! Love the fabric piece your Mom made, I am a textile lady and like being able to use fabrics in journal making!

Ooo! I'm so excited to see you make a book that has pages ripped out! Yay! I love your (Jessie)collage book and I wasn't sure how to do it. So thank you! I adore your Mum's slow stitching too. How wonderful❣ And as always, I enjoy your stories. You always give me a smile or a laugh. We all need a bit of a giggle to get us thru these uncertain times. Thank you for being here Rachel. Many blessings...

I love seeing you think through the choices, so please waffle along! New subscriber but oh such a junk journal lover. Complete beginner but just did a challenge with some other journal makers to do a collage base swap. And learning how to watercolor and doodle! You inspired me to make my first altered book and will start it today! Thank you!
