TUTORIAL: How to cover any book with plastic film or cellophane - Tips & Tricks - watch it in 4K

Ойын-сауық

Welcome book lovers to a tutorial on our method to cover and protect books!
We have many full photo book flips of excellent Photo books on our channel, and hundreds more to come!
There are a few different ways to cover books, including mylar, which looks promising though is much more expensive than the 80cm x 100m roll of BOPP plastic cellophane (used by professional florists) that we are using.
This method will work for any books, whether soft or hard cover, with or or without dust jackets, small or large. For soft cover books, you may find that you need to anchor them more in step 6 (eg. with a book so the soft cover doesn’t buckle whilst your working on it).
1. Preparation - You’ll need:
a. A roll of plastic wrap
b. Transparent tape
c. Scissors
d. A thin rod (eg. kitchen skewer)
e. Clips
2. Unroll the film, center the book with at least 5 cm on each side and cut the top of the film.
3. Cut out the triangles adjacent to the spine leaving flaps.
a. You can either cut off the flaps
b. Or trim them and apply tape to reinforce the spine as this area is prone to tears in the plastic
c. Or you can fold the flap behind the spine if the book is larger and has a recess behind the spine
4. Center the book back over the plastic.
5. Fold the plastic over the book and under the front cover and clip, then place the book on it’s spine and fold the plastic over the back cover and clip
6. Lean a cover and the pages against a wall or object and place something on the bottom cover that is against the table so the book doesn’t move.
7. Using the flat of the scissors or a dull knife press down on the edge of the plastic at a corner, then fold over and do the same.
8. Place the rod alongside the bottom edge of the book, then fold the flap up until it touches the cover, then remove the rod, tighten the fold, and tape down.
9. You can apply extra tape to strengthen the fold.
10. Repeat for all the corners.
11. Remove the clips
12. You’re finished!
