I have had this machine for over 3 years but was so intimidated on learning how to use it. I was about to sell it when I decided to take a look for a tutorial on how to use it and give it one last shot before I did. I am beyond happy that I did. I watched this video a few time and I must say that I am glad I did. I stitched some of my sons pants that were in need of stitching and I am excited to try a few projects. Thank so much for this video!! I am sure many people are grateful for this.

This woman is a great teacher. I too was intimidated by the machine. However, after watching the video, I'm confident I can sew my blue jeans, & other miscellaneous things in need of repair. Good job 👍 Mama Bear. 🐻

download a media player, windows 8.1 and 10 don't have one, but there are many out there that are free.

I have had this machine 7 years, never used it because it would jam. Thanks to your tutorial I realized I was threading it wrong and missing the middle piece on the bobbin. Now I am sewing with so much ease even though I am new to it. Your videos are the best!!! Much better than the instructions. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I can always rely on your detailed reviews advice.

Excellent tutorial. You made each step look easy and the video is clear. Please do more tutorials!!! Maybe some beginner projects? Tools needed for beginners? Basically anything beginner haha

That's a good idea. :) For now.. For repairs, try to match the existing stitch length. For any drafts (where you may need to remove it), use the longest stitch, #10 You can easily remove it or reinforce it later with a regular stitch. For ANY stretchy fabric, use a zigzag stitch. (I.e., to reinforce underwear elastic, use the largest, #4) For fabric that may easily fray, try to add a tiny hem or at least sew in a double stitch 1/8 in. Apart. #5 stitches are meant for flimsy materials. Some of the other stitches are just for decorative effects, #12-17.

Thank you for the tutorial. This machine was given to me by a friend who bought a new machine for herself. I've been wanting to learn to sew, but have had reservations since I have managed to jam about 3 machines in the past (probably about then years ago). I'm happy to report that I did not jam up this machine when I followed your tutorial :)

Amazing tutorial for this machine! I already fixed two pairs of baggy cargo pants after watching this video. I just bought it at Wal-Mart today and plan to fix a bunch of boxy looking t shirts I bought. I wish this machine didn't have the flowers all over it since I'm a guy but for the price, I'll just cover them up

Your instructions are awesome. I was loading the bobbin incorrectly which was messing up the thread tension. After following your instructions the stitches are coming our perfect! Definately better than the instructional DVD. Thank you!

Brother is my favorite brand. I bought this to take to park and sew using a small power bank. I bought because it is light weight and can carry on my bike.

Hi nice tutorial! thank you! I have one tip for you. When you change between modes in your sewing machine just like A B C or any other I belive it's better to raise de sewing needle to prevent any damage to the sewing machine mechanism or break the needle.

Hello, you do a great job of describing a showing how to use this Brother xj2517 for someone who has not seen before, or like me hasn't used a sewing machine for about 30yrs 😆 the only thing I would recommend is when teaching us maybe you could use a dark thread??
