Couple things about that Tring incident: 1) Even under normal circumstances, the quad strategy isn't a guarantee. There's still a small chance that you can end up with the quad you used (as you saw with the Entbrat) or something else if the combination happens to be that of another monster. Still, under normal circumstances, the odds of this are still miniscule, so it's still a good strategy for filling up these monsters. 2) This was not a normal circumstance, as there is a special algorithm with Epic Kayna's breeding combination where it is heavily favored to fail in the quad's side, even when Epic Kayna isn't available. You just happened to stumble into that breeding combination here, which is why you kept getting Trings instead of Stoggs. 3) Considering how much of a pain the quads are to breed on the Fire and Magical Islands, it's worth remembering these combinations, both for obtaining the necessary quad, and for avoiding the incident you just had. For future reference, these combinations are as follows: Fire Haven: Tring + Stogg (of course) Fire Oasis: Sneyser + Phangler Light Island: Blow't + Furcorn Psychic Island: Gloptic + Oaktopus Fairy Island: Pladdie + Drumpler Bone Island: Plinkajou + Fwog Hopefully, this all helps with the rest of your Amber Island adventure.

I read that you get the quad when you breed it with a two element and always get the three element when with a quad, unless you are breeding with the small chance of getting a more rare monster, like ethereals and mythical on the natural islands.

@@Frog.77. Nope, that only applies to the Epic Kayna combinations listed above. Otherwise, unless you're breeding with its Rare counterpart, using a quad to breed will result in the other parent about 99% of the time. At least that's how it works in the main game; I haven't played enough of DoF to be sure of the mechanics in there

@@Frog.77. That's a Ghazt; on the Natural Islands, any triple mixed with the quad can result in the ethereal as well, but the odds of getting the triple is still monumentally higher, so it's still worth it

When you were using the Tring and Stogg combination, there's a trick to it, you were using the Epic Kayna Combination, this Combination will give you the Quad Monster 80% of the time.

you don't need to use the quad method for natural double elements because breeding a natural double with single elements means you have 100% of getting that double so i hope that helped

It’s not actually a perfect one because there’s a zero point one percent chance, I know very slim that you will get the foerfour elemental instead it’s not perfect, but there’s a solution. You could just breed them with the rare variant and it’s 100% chance that you’ll get the original monster, but there’s some small chances that you might get a rare epic instead, but still very rare less than 0.1%, so that’s why most people breed with rares and instead of four elementals, especially if you’re trying to breed the four elemental
