Being right-handed, I have exactly the same problems. My left hand is certainly not as fast on the crossfader as I'd like it be but I've found the best way to build speed is do the technique over and over again, starting at a comfortable speed and gradually increasing it so that is always challenges you. Your wrists and hands may ache to start with but any muscle will become stronger if it is pushed. And with strength, comes speed. Like any exercise, don't forget to allow time to rest.

By connecting your mixer to your computer's sound card. Usually this is done with a phono to mini-jack cable. Attach the phono end to the line-out of your mixer and the mini-jack end into the line-in of your soundcard. You'll then need some software to record the audio, such as Sound Forge or Audacity

For the people having problems with the transformer scratch. Orginally, I found it easier to do the transformer scratch just by, kind of forgetting about the right hand at first and letting the sound play, just focussing on the cutting with the left hand... Then eventually, (slowly) bringing in the right hand to further cut the scratch. Hope this helps...

I am a brand new DJ just starting out with no experience whatsoever. You have turned me into a pretty decent DJ already with just a few of your tutorials. I can't wait to take it to the next level. Legend! I've just started playing on my decks again (after years of Hard Dance) and thought I'd give scratching a go. Your tutorials are clear, concise and the pacing of each one is like a logical progression from the last. Awesome mate. To big thumbs up and keep'em coming Cheers!

Yes mate, these tutorials are so good and easy to follow best on the net imo, each one follows on perfectly from the last and what I e done is give myself a week with each one so that technique sticks before I move on to the next, doing each technique in its own is starting to feel kinda easy but stringing multiple techniques together is what I'm struggling with, Ive found that mastering all of them along to the same beat on their own and then stringing them all together in a routine over that same beat has made it easier for me to combine them together, supper dope DJ though deff one of our best from UK!

You know i'm french, i'm pretty good in english (at school^^) but still i don't understand more than 70% of what englishes/amercicans/etc say when they speak normally But with your explanations I understand everything because you speal distincly and use simple words which is great. More than that you describe those scratch technics with precision and I didn't find any better tutorial than yours You won't probably ever read this but it's my way to thank you :D if i didn't make too many mistakes

Your a tremulous teacher. I started djing in March mostly EDM (breakbeats). I want to learn all facets of djing. Your tutorials are great. I'm only on this lesson. But I will do them all. probably a few times. Big props for putting all this online for free. I don't own turntables I have an ns7 and so far I was able to do all of it. Not sure if I am going to run into problems with out having real decks and a mixer. I would not try to learn scratching on a regular stationary jog wheel controller.

Hey good tutorial as always. Long time Dj, No time Scratch Dj.. lol. I actually started Djing like most because of the coolness of scratching. I never got a chance to pursue it as much as I really wanted to, because it wasn't prudent in making money in my line of Djing. I really wanted to learn how to transition hip hop songs with scratching. If you have any tutorials of that I would love to see them. Thanks Ck the Dj

a track ages ago had a line that was "aaahhh its so freshhh" in a weird alien way. it then became the typical scratch sound and can be found (as stated at he beginning) in pretty much every scratch record.

Transforming can be done with transformer switches, but the crossfader is much more versatile for scratching, particularly for more advanced techniques like the Crab, which can't be performed on transformer switches.

As a scratch DJ, you are a musician and should "compliment" the music you scratch along to. It's good to practice using different beats as this will teach you how to adapt your style. Of course, some types of music may be better suited to the sound of scratching than others, but it's always the DJ's job to select the music...

Like, Favorite, Subscribe I've been dj'ing as a hobby for years now but I've never really been interested in any sort of instruction. Well, your videos have made a believer out of me. Although the first 6 vids are mostly review for me I still learned a couple things. I'm pretty old school so the transformer is about as far as I've gone with scratching. Your vid shows an even more efficient way of doing it. Great job! Can't wait to see part 8! Respect, from West L.A.
