Lyrics:
Up and down like a red rubber ball
You're always back and forth like the clock on the wall
I want to know about you
I'm spinning all around you
If I stay do you think that we could change your routine?
I know a trick, I've always got a few up my sleeve
This life is controlled confusion
It's just a grand illusion
And you ask me "How do you feel when you're away?"
And you ask me "How do you pass the days?"
Sing along to a song that I know
It goes bah bah bada, sing it over and over
Let it hypnotize you
I'm still here right beside you
Hold my hand, you can follow my lead
You're like a ballerina twirling round on your feet
And watching is so fantastic
I want to ask you
Would you come here and spin with me?
I've been dying to get you dizzy
Find a way up into your head
So I can make you feel like new again
Now collapse, take delight in the fall and catch your breath
I know you feel the ring from it all
So try and collect yourself now
It's just a euphoric comedown
And you ask me "How do you feel when you're away?"
And you ask me "How do you pass the days?"
Cause I can still remember when you were afraid of the dark
And I told you to come and you followed where I asked you to go
Would you come here and spin with me?
I've been dying to get you dizzy
Find a way up into your head
So I can make you feel like new again

This is one of those songs that come in your life during a very specific point in time, making it mean so much more than the already deep lyrics would normally allow. I just can't believe how quickly things change.

Deep. Every present moment is literally a specific point in time. Thing are always changing. That's reality, and that's your brain stuck in the past not wanting to let go. Because you realize who you are is where you've been in the past. Let it go and embrace the uncertainty. That's the beauty of life.

I totally feel you, bro. My girl was a belly dancer and watching her spin around was mesmerizing. She abandoned me several years ago without notice. She just faded away. Nevertheless, I recently found this beautiful song and while going through the ballerina's lines, the girl aforementioned was the first thing who came to my mind. I don't love her anymore, I only remember the days when we were together. It felt like a dream. To be honest, I think that after her I never fell for anyone like I did. I miss the way I felt in those days.

I fell for a hippie when he played me this at 3 in the morning on his record player. I danced around the room while we smoked .....he told me about a song of a guy and a girl tripping together for the first time and falling into eternal love with one another- every word he spoke was poetry- I never wanted someone more. Earlier that day he took me to a waterfall with his friends where we cliff jumped and later his mom made us spaghetti and smoked with us :). He has long blonde hair, the happiest smile, and the warmest heart- he is something out of a dream.....but he doesn't want me- this song is so beautiful and yet tragic to me.

when you used to fantasize about singing this song with your "future wife" while dancing in the light of your refrigerator when you eventually got married, and then you broke up, the song loses its meaning. this is the first time i've listened to it in almost a year and a half. i'm single now and i hope this song never has meaning for me again. i don't want it to. i don't want to pin this song to another lover that i know will fail.

08/13/2020: this song has meaning to me again. not in the way you might think. this song makes me sob because i regret never telling him how much i loved him. no, he didn't die. he came out as trans while we were dating and i supported him entirely. the problem was he went through a highly traumatic experience one night and started to drink and do drugs to cope. we're teenagers, so his mother sent him to a facility and he just left behind what he had before then and is almost a completely different person now. i regret not telling him how much i loved him because he gave me the most love i've felt in ages. i haven't been that happy with someone since i was his. i listen to this song during those moments when the world feels like it's crumbling around me. i still envision the two of us dancing in the refrigerator light. but those visions were always of two young women, whose faces are now blurred and obscured. we're both trans. kinda feels like dying and being reborn at times. nothing's the same and i'm lonely.

Here's what I see when this song comes on. It's December 2017 We are talking about life, headed to see the lights. This song starts playing, his hand on my thigh while going through a tunnel full of lights. Lights, smiles and laughter... All of a sudden the image becomes blurry and the warmth on my lap is gone, I'm alone and he's gone and out of my life, like he never came in.

Happy Birthday, Thomas. I kinda hope you don't see this comment but youre an adult now, 18. I know we'll probably never see each other again now that you're in college. I'm sorry things didn't work out for us. I'll never ever forget the summer of 2018. Heck, when I got a message from you I danced around my room. Stupid, I know. I'm sorry we'll never get to see come from away together, let alone go to New York. I hope you have a good life in Boston. And the five years of my life I realized I was in love with you were the best and the hardest. I know you didn't feel the same, and I am so sorry for everything. I wish it could have ended differently. You'll be an amazing actor/writer someday, and I wouldn't be surprised to find myself sitting in a theater watching your work. Best of luck "Nick." -"Diane"

This song is the song that I associate with my boyfriend, we are 5 months strong now and I couldn't be happier. One of the first songs I ever showed to him was this one. This is my favorite song and that means a lot considering how important music is to me and everything I do. When I first heard this song I got the light fuzzy feeling in my chest, it was the most beautiful song id ever heard. Now when I look at him I get the same feeling. It represents the hope I have for the future and all that I love about him. He loves the song just as much as I do and it couldn't make he happier. So Canon if for some reason your seeing this comment I love you, thank you for being you. -El

No clue why but this song makes me think of this one night my senior year of high school, and I can’t remember how we ended up here but my friends and I ended up laying down on a dock in this park near where I live it’s like May/June and 11:30-12 at night and we’re just laying there listening to music through a Bluetooth speaker. It was one of the best nights of my life. In that moment I wasn’t worried about anything. It was just me and my friends and some good music and everything was alright. It was probably the happiest I’ve ever been, just laying there... I don’t even talk to them anymore, we grew up and split ways. I miss them everyday. If you’re still in high school, I know it doesn’t feel like it, but you’re in the good ole days. You won’t know until they’re gone. Appreciate everything you have. Live in the moment. And don’t stress too much. Go out, have fun and enjoy every moment.
