Just a note ...if the pups are eating the poop (cow or horse) the may have internal parasites, they get the natural remedy from that poop. For some species, such as rabbits, eating fecal droppings is a totally normal way of obtaining key nutrients. In fact, if you prevent rabbits from doing this, they will develop health problems, and young ones will fail to thrive . Just a note from an ex farming type in Australia.

Hey guys, a big good morning from beautiful downtown Bangkok Thailand. I am happy to say I finally got my new phone and can see the keyboard good enough that I can type in the lower case letters. I think you might want to build some kind of metal frame around that area where you put the poop in so it doesn't fall over again next time you want to put a lot of stuff in at one time. I'm really enjoying watching you build your farm. You are doing what a lot of us older people did back in the 60's. I was part of that group and worked on a few farms. It was a lot of work and long hours. Some people succeeded but some also failed. One of the biggest problems was having to make so much money each month to pay the mortgage. You guys don't have that problem and that will let you concentrate on building your shop and homes. I can see how you would want that piece of land next to you. It would really make for a beautiful farm and you would have room for that many more people to help with the things that have to be done on a farm. I wish you all the luck in the world and as always I am looking forward to your next video.

Those things do not really catch on as a gas producer in most areas. It is expensive dirty literally shitty and does not produce a lot of gas. Maybe enough for one person to cook but not for hot water for showers heating etc. The cheap availability or propane butane even diesel in almost all areas plus it is a very niche market. After all you cannot exactly put it in a suburban garden plus the raw materials are not easy to come by unless you are going to go the human waste route. Where they do score over more conventional heating arrangements is not the gas but the liquid fertilizer which is both excellent and tends to be expensive. I am guessing that the installations you have seen in Italy are both way larger and used on farms or smallholding for this purpose and the biogas is a useful by product.

perhaps like the ones you see in islander villages...a large pavilion with no walls...with a grill area off to the side as attending families would bring their individual cooked dish prepared at their home kitchen, as to not clutter this space with all the kitchen stuff...

For your climate a screened porch style would be best. From experience, you want something at least 20' on the sides and with large doors that can be used to expand the space. My portable outdoor kitchen is based upon pop up canopies and steel tables, will accommodate 15 people working and feed forty is we are friendly. When you are putting up a harvest of anything, you need space. Rafters to string up stuff drying; tables to prep, to process, to let stand and pack. Think processing enough produce to fill the back of your truck over a weekend and all those bodies doing various tasks. If you plan for open air, you will have bugs and rain making you life a living hell. A table full of cooling jars of tomatoes and peaches hitting the deck because the kids (two and four legged) and dogs came running through will fray your last nerve. So will the chickens finding all the goodies you are drying. Cleaning the back end chicken product off the stove before you can process 120 quarts of tomatoes sauce is not fun. So plan out a large communal kitchen workspace. It should hold at least twice the number of people you want living on the property working, plus the smalls under foot. So by my count, that's twenty bipeds plus at least half as many quads (crawling humans to pups). The biogas is a great idea.

I think burning methane produces a large amount of water as a byproduct. Could cause issues with metal stove, pipes etc. I learned this from the guys at our sewage water facility. My understanding of crate training is that you should only leave the puppy in the crate for 1 hour more than their age, ie - if the puppy is 3 months old it can stay in the cage for a maximum of 4 hrs at a time, and always ensure they've gone pee right before you put them in - their bladders should be able to hold it for that long, and pick them up and take them outside immediately after letting them out of the cage. I believe you should only have one puppy per crate.

I used to breed shar pei, and kept the entire litter in the crate together. My pups were housebroken bfr they went to their new homes at 8 weeks. You have to be consistent. Feed at the same times everyday, and let them out if the crate at the same times everyday. I used to feed them outside, and wait 10 minutes or so, and they will need to go poop, they will prob need to pee immediately after getting out of the crate. After that, its pretty safe to let them run around inside for awhile. I would also take them outside abt once an hour in the beginning.

You need to add vitamins and minerals into the feed you are making for the chickens. We run a small poultry operation and make some of our own food. We use a vitamin and mineral concentrate. 20Lbs of the concentrate mixes in with 500lbs of feed. Without enough calcium your hens will stop laying, or will lay soft shelled eggs which they will then step on and eat.

Another fun show from you guys. I have a suggestion others may have suggested but.............. SIMPLE easy wonderful way to potty train those pups is.......... you build a smallish playpen type area 5 or 6 ft by the same (or larger if your willing) and have bedding on one side and potty pads on the other They dont want to be in potty so they wake up, go to far side of the "pen" do their thing and back to bed. Yea, if they go to playing and it's a small pen, they will get some mess, but you build accordingly. this is for their night time situation :) done this so many successful times :)

I've read all the comments in this thread and boy I am annoyed by the "gross" remarks. It's obvious these keyboard trolls know nothing about farm life. It's a messy business, long hours and hard work. I would join this community in a heartbeat. Someone said Rodrigo should run, he's wasting his time. From what I can see on his channel he's having a blast, he's learnt so many things and applying those skills and doing a great job - love his barn door. Kakey and his lady are fixing up the bus to be their temporary home, so I'm sure they'll be doing something about mould issue otherwise they wouldn't be moving in. I encourage the haters to listen to what these guys are saying - your opinion is not important. About those puppies OMG they are sooo cute and yes grow up too fast. Good parent training though with a baby on the way. Puppies will always listen if you train them well - kids on the other hand will eventually back chat and be disobedient. Pets are way easier than kids any day and you have so much love for them it's heartwarming. My question to the trolls is "what have you done/been doing that's worth sharing" ? From what I see these young people have changed the lives of many. Yes it may be small things but the people whose lives they touch are changed forever, they are given hope - something that is mostly in short supply. Kaylee & Jordan you are doing an amazing job. I am an avid admirer and happy that you have South Americans, locals from Panama, and fellow South Africans on your homestead. You guys are one of my favourite channels to watch - having a homestead community is my dream. All the best with the biogas experiment, hope it works out for Rodrigo's cooking needs. Looking forward to seeing the organic garden produce and that rooster crowing is priceless. Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa 🤗🤗🤗

I have create trained all my dogs. You have to remember that they are puppies. You need to get up every couple hours and bring them out to go the bathroom. You can gradually extend the time between getting them up. The. They will start to hold it all night. Also your create can’t be very big. You need it so they can lay down and can spin in the cage. The more room you give them when young will allow them to poop in the cage. This has worked for me. Hope this helps.

So glad the crate training is coming along. Dogs wont usually use the bathroom in their sleeping area. But with puppies they can only hold it for so long and still normally need to be taken out at night. A feed, take out to poop, then bed time routine usually works pretty well. Yes, you are looking a bit pregnant. I never got really big or showed my pregnancy like many women do because of years of Gymnastics, so my stomach muscles were very strong. Don't get me wrong, I did look pregnant in my third trimester. The good news is that my abs returned to completely flat petty quick after birth with both my kids. I'd say that my figure actually got better because a bit more curve at the hips. Being active is wonderful. Love the natural gas set up. It will be interesting to see how it works. God bless.

Good Luck with the crate training ! Was wondering how you plan to move the fertilizer after its treatment in the bio reactor ? Hopefully not in a wheelbarrow, that would be messy and wasteful of your time and energy. Perhaps you would consider elevating the big bladder on a platform that to be slightly above the bed level of truck so it could be connected to another bladder system or containers as receptacle and drained downhill using the slope you already have it placed upon for pumping help ? Then it could be moved efficiently and dispensed widely as needed for various plots. One of those IBU Containers would work, and can be moved into bed when empty by a few people, but would hold all the water you'll need for refilling reactor or draining the fertilizer.

You might consider an enclosure of some sort to keep animals and blowing debris from puncturing that bio gas bag. I know it's strong, but sun and claws and teeth and really strong winds can damage it over time. I imagine it will also produce heat so it will be attractive to animals to warm themselves on etc.

I agree only there are many ways to make the composting gas is relatively easy to make by yourself. That would be more strong than a bag.

I worked many years in a sewage works we had digesters while they work very well they give off not only CH4 but CO2, H2O, H2S or Hydrogen sulphide which is nasty gas as it can kill you. We always used gas monitors I realise this is small scale and I’m sure you’ve done your research having said that it’s a great addition to your farm. you can also put your human waste in as well.

I’ve been so interested in these digesters for some time now and am trying to figure out a way to incorporate one into my off grid situation in the north in Canada. The winter part of the experiment is the issue so far but I’m close. I’m interested in the production you get.

Chooks need insect / animal based protein, they are predators, crazy dinosaurs... look into soldier fly farms, or worm farm...something panama happy, basically breed your own insects for them... My mum's chooks would deal to their mice when we had a major beech tree mast year (NZ), rodent populations would be so big that mice were everywhere. Chickens would just hoe into them. A little bit glad they are smaller than us!!!

When I first started raising dogs (and realized I was severely sleep deprived) I put up a small temporary fenced pen. So then I could just open the door the pups would go out do their business and come back in. I now have a pet door that they can access outside in a larger pen anytime they want. Great invention!

Hi there you two. I am hopeful that all your plans work out. There's much to learn from dogs and about dogs. Why not invite a couple of well known guests famous for keeping pets, like Cesar Millan, maybe? Or , perhaps a couple of well known veterinary doctors? Also, is there a test kit for ecoli testing? Kaylee and children need to eat only vegetables 110% free of ecoli. Also, pregnant moms must not and never operate the electric fence switch or wires because it's dangerous. Keep positive in the meantime and follow safe measures. You're wonderful and you have your video friends to look after your wellbeing. Hopefully your pups will get their homes very soon so Kaylee can get much needed rest. Lifting unnecessariy is best. You need quiet too. The pup after Roger may mean a pup that will grow up with that temperament. Look up what the American Seeing Eye Dog screening is for safe dogs. They are tested by seven weeks. If they do not pass by seven weeks, they are put out of the program, with no exception. Most training with problematic dogs is for the humans attached to their dogs. The character of the dog never changes. I love your humor and adventure. Keep it simple though. Everyone loves Lola and Roger. They are the star pets.

#cratetraining- it has to be big enough so they have separate areas for sleeping and pooping. Also you wouldn't expect puppies at that age to make it through the night without going out once or twice during the night.
