    Never heard that about running the monitor and the cam off the same battery. But I have heard a lot of things about bricking Sony's running off dummy batteries. I just use the USB-C charging instead of a dummy battery.

    If I’m not mistaken, the A7IV only charges USB-C when the camera is turned off and doesn’t hold up a continuous charge while shooting. That was one thing I noticed when testing out with a powerbank. Perhaps they fixed this in the last firmware update.

    But then the battery gets very hot so the battery condition goes down pretty fast. That's why I always suggest a dummy

    The battery doesn't charge while on an on usb power. Instead, the battery is only used to add the additional power required that the 5v usb can't provide. All in all consumption is halved with the battery still draining 3-4voltage of power instead of 8.1-8.4@@FMMFilms.

    Whats so wild to me is that, I just started doing sports videography a month ago and my channel blew up (not new to videography in general). Today I was looking to get better and came across your channel. I already own the A7IV and thought you were using something way more expensive lol thanks for this, all I need is the Lens!

    Oh my goodness thank you for your channel! So I’m assuming you do all handheld footage and zoom in and out? I use my Sony 70-200 2.8 for bball and football videos but I find myself using a monopod to help support. I do have a gimbal but I don’t feel like that would be practical. I like the idea of the cage but would you recommend something to help support everything? I’m weak in my arms 😂😂😂

  • @petersarellas

    @petersarellas

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes I’m almost all handheld, gimbal sometimes on wide lenses. I do have a cage on my camera for the most part and also use a camera strap to help stabilize. Monopod has its pros and cons but can def be a good option and is something I’ll use every now and again, especially at longer focal lengths, so don’t be afraid to use it if you need it

    Hi! Thanks for your video they are awesome!!! Watching you from France !! I try the v-mount battery in my a7iv, but when I plugged it, fully charge, it tell me that my battery is exhausted. Have you ever got this issue?

  • @petersarellas

    @petersarellas

    Жыл бұрын

    Sorry to hear that! No I have never had that issue, though it may depend specifically on which v-mount battery and dummy battery you’re using as it’s important to get a dummy that outputs the same voltage as your standard battery would usually provide.

    What is the perfect lens made for sony a7III for basketball videography? One that I can use for if i’m at one end of the court and i can zoom to the other end with good focus? I have the tamron Tamron - 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Standard Zoom Lens but that’s only good for half court views.

  • @petersarellas

    @petersarellas

    I shoot almost exclusively on the Sony 70-200mm f4 for basketball because it produces a good image, isn’t too expensive, and can reach across the court like you’re looking for.

    Is there a reason for the f/4 over the f/2.8?

  • @petersarellas

    @petersarellas

    2 жыл бұрын

    I don’t really need the f2.8 for anything video-related since I can almost always expose properly at f4 without bringing my ISO too high, plus the f4 is lighter and cheaper with very similar image quality.

    Could you explain to me how you do the split audio? Im filming a documentary in a few weeks and I want to record both a lav mic with my rode wireless go and a shotgun mic, but I have no idea how to make it work

  • @petersarellas

    @petersarellas

    Жыл бұрын

    You have to record each of them into separate channels, which usually means either running them into a multi track recorder (like the Zoom H4 or H6 for example) or using something like the XLR top handle available for the FX3/A7Siii/FX30 to record multiple channels of audio into your camera. Additionally since the Rode Wireless Go uses a 3.5mm jack you could record the lav mic into your camera then get an audio recorder with a single XLR input and run the XLR cable on your shotgun of choice to there, then sync the two in post. Hopefully this helps.

  • @ChannelGeekyGaming

    @ChannelGeekyGaming

    @@petersarellas Thank you so so much!! I just want to ask, I have a Sony A7IV and it doesn't have XLR, just a 3.5mm input. Could I get a cable splitter like you have here in this video and connect the Rode wireless go on the right channel, and the shotgun mic on the left channel? Is this a safe method? Im filming a documentary in the jungles of mozambique so I need a fullproof plan. Im also going to be alone, so monitoring an audio recorder would be too much for me since this is my first project

  • @petersarellas

    @petersarellas

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ChannelGeekyGaming That should work (at least in theory) as long as the shotgun mic uses a 3.5mm input. Getting one that has the ability to adjust the gain on the microphone would be ideal so that you can balance it with the lav to make sure neither is peaking.
