FAQ: What do you do when it rains? We don't get that much rain into our balcony, because there is a "roof" aka the balcony of our upstairs neighbour. Also, it's slanted and slopes downwards so the water slowly trickles away. Either way, I made sure almost everything there is uv + waterproof - from the rug to anything wood (using outdoor stain). If we know there's gna be the slightest chance of rain, we'll place a waterproof tarp over the entire bbq + table, and cushions are brought indoors. It takes only 1 minute to protect the balcony :) FAQ: Doesn't it get dusty? Not really... It's pretty easy to maintain since it's such a small space. We find it gets dustier inside our house than outside, lol. FAQ: What about winter? In the winter we bring everything in. In Germany a lot of old buildings like ours have basement storage units (it's like 3 to 4 sqm of space) so we can put everything away, and restore it once the weather gets warmer again. A lot of people who have fully decked out balconies bring their furniture in during the winter too!

Waving at the train almost made me cry🥰 I love how it came out and I am happy for you both. What a special place to share and have memories!

I really like the way you recorded this; not a bunch of talking about stuff that is just unimportant. It sounds weird to say but the no talking at all was actually really refreshing. The music was very relaxing. You got to the point without a lot of excess and distractions but it still it felt like you were telling a cozy story. The whole video was 13 minutes long but I didn't feel like I sat through a long 13 minutes watching the whole thing because it was that engaging. The space turned out beautifully. And it's inspiring cuz I have a balcony that's not really being used and I'm kinda prissy; I don't like spiders or bugs or dirt (lol 😆) so I usually don't even go outside to the balcony, but now I might decide to do something with it.

This is so relatable. Many of us who rent have a small balcony and can’t drill holes or paint the walls. Love your solution of using a faux ivy on the wooden grid, it made the white wall stand out! The bbq + table are entirely covered by a waterproof thingy (is it called a tarp? haha) at night if we know there's any chance of rain. Rug, trellis & sofa base are waterproof. Cushions are brought indoors :) (It sounds like work but actually not really, takes only a minute!)

Upvoted. 1. Stain doesn't protect, it just brings out the wood grain. Some stain claims to have protectants... well, I guess an umbrella protects against bullets too, just not very well. 2. Consider covering all wood, especially the floor tiles, with polyurethane. Follow directions and the stained wood will look great. Again, nice tansition.
