Making a new video and you get to decide which one!!!
Many of you already know that we put out the new album just a short while ago. Thank you all for supporting it... we've gotten some incredible reviews and wonderfully positive feedback. I really love this album. I love it so much that I couldn't decide on which video to make next. See where I'm going with this yet? We opened with a video of "For Many" and are now considering which piece should follow it up. In all likelihood this will be the last video I produce (They're an increasingly expensive commitment with no monetary return... I do them because I love doing them... just can't afford to keep doing them.) So with all of that out in the open I want to invite my fans to make this decision. Your support has meant so much over the years and I'm often asked why I haven't done a video for this piece or that piece... trust me I would do videos for all of them if I could. How it breaks down is this. We're going to release the album on KZread and Soundcloud. Two tracks per week with just a static image of Scott Waters wonderful cover art. When all of the pieces are finally online voting will begin on www.shanekoyczan.com.
There'll be a list of the tracks and each visitor will be allowed to cast their vote for the piece they'd most like to see made into a video. Please keep in mind that we don't have access to grants and are not crowd funding this project. Our budget is a modest 8k which I pay for myself. So please don't expect Michael Jackson's Thriller. Another angle to this little tidbit is that we will be accepting submissions from creators who might be interested in making the video. Animators, graphic designers, filmmakers... Pixar... whoever you are... If this is something that interests you and you believe you can work within the budget... it's all yours. Submit some of your work to submissions@shanekoyczan.com; the band and I will go through and decide which style we'd like to see applied to the chosen track. Something you should consider before making any commitments is that the 8k is in Canadian funds, which is currently laughable outside of Canada, so I hope you're up for a challenge. If you do feel like cushioning the meager budget you can make a pledge on my Patreon page / shanekoyczan . This will likely be the first and last project I release via this site but every penny helps. Okay... I've talked your ear off long enough. Hope you've all been making beautiful steps toward your bliss in this new year. Hope to see you all in it.
Cheers,
Shane

shane writes these types of poems where when the video ends you find yourself still staring where you were previously, completely speechless and letting the poem's grasp of your mind slowly let go, as if it where a giant hand.

My little brother is 6 and he'd always have nightmares about monsters and stuff. When ever I hear him call my name (my dad works night shifts) I'd always have a cape and robin mask in my room so I could rush in and "protect him from monsters." he has a pretty big closet so I'd go in there and shut the door behind me and pretend to fight monsters. It always made his night.

+William Restis that's a really good way of putting it. I just found these poems recently through random coincidence, but they are so lovely. It's like not knowing you were cold and then stumbling on a campfire, perhaps a kit for smores. It's amazing how each poem can make you laugh and be incredibly deep and almost wistful at the same time

that doesn't really matter. For a Christian, God is what their lives revolve around. isn't it extremely meaningful for someone to hope that the very thing their life revolves around, that brings them so much joy, will bless another person as well? It should be an honor, and shame on anyone for trying to kick that person down for wishing a blessing of that sort to be bestowed upon someone else.
I was in tears, then he said the thing about beef jerky

I like how he can make me both cry and laugh at the same time.
I had night terrors as a child. This poem reminds me so much of my mom. She used to do the same thing. Come into my room and lay down with me until I stopped crying and felt better.

My god- how much do I love you and your art. Thank you for always reminding me that people still have worth in this world of heartless trolls. I love your amazing badass granddad.
I remember this from Snap Judgement, this is one of my favourites!
You're so inspiring, after I had watched your "To This Day" project video, it inspired me to influence the younger generations and show them the true destruction of bullying as I have suffered from it and unfortunately committed self-harm, close to suicide I realized that by me ending my own pain will just cause even greater pain to those around me. I wanted children and teens to be able to accept those who are "unique" not "different", everyone has a meaning to this world and you Shawn you are meant to help many people through your inspiring poems/stories
my son showed me to this day when he was 15 and had Candida in his brain, he couldn't talk to me. it spoke volumes for him. ty for everything. it changed our relationship and future. he's happy and healthy now. I wish you all the best in whatever you do. I know you know this, but you've changed so many lives. I wish you weren't going. I've bought all your albums though and my son and I one of your shirts. that's all.
Shane Koyczan, I can truly say you've made me laugh and cry and the same time.
“I will turn on a light.” Made me chuckle and then cry. My grandpa died a couple years ago, I’m glad for his memories.
Every poem you make brings me to tears, mostly the ones about your grandfather.
These help me fall asleep😊
I love all your poems, I write poetry when I get depressed. But I have never heard anything as beautiful, truthful, and deep as your poems. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your wonderful poems with us, with me.
My goodness...Shane you are a beautiful person ❤

My grandfather just passed away today, he has been dieing of dementia for a while this poem has always brought me comfort. It reminds me of what a wonderful man he was before he got sick. Today I came back here to claim myself thank you for making something so beautiful.
Every video I watch I cry
you honestly help me through so much by listening to these poems ,it helps me with coping with bullies and I thank u for being so insperational we need more people like u in the world ur truly amazing and even if u don't read this other people will so they can also see how much u help people ,much love from Alabama ♡
heard this live! was absolutely beautifully written then and absolutely beautiful now! love love love his poems more than anything!
I hate how you can make me cry. I hate it. I hate showing my emotions, what makes me feel. It's why I keep listening, so I don't forget.
You have a true gift. I layed on my bed with eyes closed and listened to you, and you brought me to tears... not because I have experienced these things... I never even met my grandparents. Every single word is just filled with so much emotion. Thank you.
I hope Shane is remembered as the man who dared to turn on a light for all those who are hiding beef jerky under our beds.
I can't ever get over how beautiful these are
how can you dislike any of these videos, they speak to the human, these stories get to feelings I have never felt
i love all your poems. all of them. ive been listening to them for the past few years and not once do they ever get old.
i laugh cried at 6:00 then accidentally hit my glasses into my eyes trying to wipe them away
i miss you granpa so much. you were my world. all grown up now and for twenty years i was an addict now im am in recovery so much pain i was in no more pain
i heard this before but never had it touched so deeply.
Me and my sister love your poems and when we heard this I swear to god be balled out eyes out together. Your poems are the thing that bring me and my sister together. Thank you.
Never have I heard true love like that bond, that was...beautiful...
I love all his poems I think it's unhealthy to love something this much
His words are so powerful that even if you have the volume on the lowest setting once the video ends it's like his voice is still echoing around the room.
I remember when Shane performed this last year when I was in High School. Makes me nostalgic. Honestly was the best opportunity hearing Shane, and I would love any opportunity to again. His words make life worth living.

I would just like to say that I just came out of the Knox Church in Parksville after having my mind blown by Shane. Thank you for such an amazing evening! I douche hope you got paid to do it! You are brilliant!
I love you peoms ..they always make me cry..they are all so great never stop what your doing, you are amazing.
I still listen to your poems in 2020 I hope you give me something new to add to the playlist
Gorgeous. Thank you Shane.
I never did get to truly meet my grandad, he always held me as a baby. He loved me like I was his own son. He passed away when I was two years old. But my mother always told me stories of how he was, all the things he'd do with her when she was a child, and with me when I was a baby. I'd like to imagine that my grandad would be like this, if he was still alive to this day. But I know he's always watching over me, happy of who I have become
Beautiful.
You're poems make each day on this earth a little better. Your eight minutes, it's changes a whole 24 hours. A whole 7 days. A whole 52 weeks. A whole lifetime. I don't know if you read these, but I want you to know you make me a better man. Shane. Thanks. -Zane Bryant
Oh Shane, you never fail to make me cry. Amazing work yet again.

This poem makes me cry so much. I love it :') I just love the emotion in his voice.
all your pieces make me want to scream. They make me want to laugh, cry, cringe, and smile all in one. they make me want to shout out my fears and joys, tell others how much i love them and tell them how afraid i am. you videos give me hope that what came from my past wont disappear and wont hurt.. thank you.
absolutely beautiful words
Love this.
you bring honesty and all of our tears and fears to the forefront and force all to examine within ..and its beautiful
You, Sir, are a true artist with such inspirational talent!
Your words give me life.
I love your spoken words so much and I ho estoy wish that my grandfather so much if he were still here he'd do the same thing
I love listening to thses. your voice can make me have a good sleep. thank you
This made me cry for the little kid who was terrified because of night terrors and wished I had a granddad who would kick the asses of every demon that kept me cowering.
Beautiful
I cast my vote for this video please.
Thank you so much for all of these poems. They always make me laugh and cry. Even if I cry though, I always end up very happy/content at the end. It's a wonderful feeling. I really can't describe how immensely happy I feel after hearing these. Just.... thank you.
Shane im glad my buddy told me about your art. Ive listened to you everyday since he showed me. I missed poetry.
Thank you so much, your work is absolutely top of my list.
