Quick video of how I make a spin top and texture the top using a Foredom handpiece and steel cutters. I found it pretty easy to use a Foredom handpiece to add some texture to a spin top.

    Yes Rich, I am not really keen on texturing but I may now try a tiny bit on the bottom of a bowl or two.

    Interesting addition to the tail stock, could you show us how you made it please?

    @@barneyrubble5633 HI. The tail stock addition is simply a block of wood with a nut inset on the tail stock end and a bearing inset in the other end. I often like to use jigs and find it difficult to match the taper in my revolving tail stock center. This way I just need a tenon. This particular jig has a small hole into which the end of the top can be sort of held to to minimized vibration etc.
