Always a difficult task for me regardless of the method I try...especially with heavier fabric

carriers on trousers. Heavy twill fabric, narrow tube, takes ages to turn.

The straw method is blowing my mind!! 😱 For really thin dainty straps, I think the only thing that works is a loop turner, but I'm definitely trying this for everything else. Thank you so much! 💕 Edit: spoke too soon, the ribbon method also sound brilliant 😅

There are tube turners that come in a set of 3 of varying sized tubes available at your fabric store. Very sturdy, I have had mine for years the various sizes makes turning a breeze Inexpensive too! Dritz Quick Turn Fabric Tube Turners

@martiadkins5297 I do have a loop turner for very dainty projects! But for normal cotton or polyester, I don't think it's sturdy enough. And because I live in a small-ish town city there aren't a lot of options readily available. I would have to order it online and it isn't always the cheapest.

I, too, was surprised by the straw method. I was familiar with the other methods and had tried them with limited success. Since I sew doll clothes primarily, my doll straps are SUPER small! So I usually just whipstitch around the long side of them. But now I'm wondering if maybe the straw method will work... If I can find a small enough straw...

I've been successful using hanger wire with a hook end, filing the burrs smooth so it doesn't catch on the fabric. Nice to see other options.

what about narrow spaghetti straps where the seam allowance is what "pads" the straps to make them round? They are extremely narrow, not wide with trimmed seam allowances like these. Any ideas for those? I would really like to see any tips for turning those. Thanks!

Is anyone aware of springless safety pins? I've noticed on many occasions with turning out ties a regular pin gets jammed into the fabric when I'm turning and it sometimes tears or doesn't want to get unstuck.

I don’t want to have two open ends. I sure wish someone would do tutorial on the best way to fold those ends in and close them off.

These are not new just maybe new to your subscribers. The ribbon one is probably the only one that’s going to work when your strap is very very long. I’ve used a cotton string and it came apart. What a pain but I will try the ribbon next time.
