Turkish laminated Bow Comparison by Malta Archery

Ойын-сауық

In the comparison seven bows from Alibow, Szimeiszter, Jackal, Taylor, Akos and Vegh. I know 44 min, but I could not do it shorter. I hope everybody will find some answers in it. Enjoy.

Excellent! Very useful. Individuals can now give different weights to the criteria depending on what they think is most important to them. Total scores will differ according to the personalized weights. For me the draw experience (draw curve/hand shock/vibration) is most important and I will weight those scores most heavily. Thank you again for providing this service!!!

I recieved my custom Akos bow today and am extremely satisfied. VERY smooth shooter, very light in the hand and excellent craftmanship.

This comparative review is an excellent idea, professionally executed, as always. I really missed the speedtest, but it is understandable that it would have taken a lot of time. One tiny note though: String pads / string bridges on authentic Turkish bows... ?

That was a superb comprehensive review of the bows, allowing archers to compare based on their own preferences. The one thing that you didn't mention was that the Vegh bow creaked every time you drew it , quite disconcerting. One question. Were all the bows the same draw weight, as heavier draw weight bows would be more likely to perform better in the 'wiggle' tests as there would be more material? (I know it would be extremely difficult to get all these bows together at the same time and draw weight, it is just a question, not in any way a criticism). Thanks as always for the hard work you put in creating these videos.

Hi Armin, first of all, well made video as usual :) But I wonder about one thing. I got the Vegh you used, but Elite Bogen told me not to draw more then 30.5 inches.... And I don't want too, because it is getting really hard....

Hallo Armin, and vielen dank for providing us with these bow review videos, they sure help us out when it comes to choosing what bows to buy (and sometimes a bit harder since apprently there are many good bows nowadays...used to be easier when I only knew of the main Hungarian bowmakers some years past)! It has been a while since this video was made, have you perhaps come across another turkish-styled bow that you'd add in this comparison if you were to make it today? Let's say I want a bow that I can use to shoot long distances with, rather than shorter distances with heavy arrows, a bow that is reliable and can endure some eventual accidents such as getting nicks, scratches, resistance against different temperatures and humidities (living in Sweden, there's quite the difference with such things during the year and I imagine especially laminated bows can dislike this), a bow that is stable and has as low hand shock as posible, and the final criteria, a bow that costs as little as possible. The Şimşek turkish bow seems to be a good candidate for me, do you agree? The only thing that it lacks would be the speed (I think that the one you tested performed about 170 fps or so with good arrow weights) needed to fling the arrows as far as possible... Thanks again!

Yes Simsek is good for all weather conditions. Laminated ones could cause problems. Maybe a Grozer biocomposite would work and they are fast

Finally I found the video explaining the "f-stop" value you refer to. @Armin does Bigger f value is better, because more flexible?

Essentialy yes. A bow is a spring so a spring that is smaller and can bend (draw) the furthest the smaller it is the more efficient it is.

I personally like the stitching on Alibow handles because I can "slide" them into my knuckles, thus helping me gripping the handle the same way everytime.

Ive been going back watching all your videos. Im even more confused on what to get now on which bow to get. Leaning towards alibow tatar and alibow segye korean. Was considering paragon tartar after seeing your review but their website says unaviable, havent checked past few days though. Just want a smooth but fast bow. Thanks for the reviews and awesome videos.

I hate to bother you, but I am at a loss here. My plans for buying the Kheshig bow got thwarted by the price. So I am looking for a horse bow in the 200 euro price range. Because of customs and delivery costs I am focused on EU bow makers. Grozer seems like a good choice, but I can't tell which bow would be the best value for the money. Yesterday the only bow I own broke one me so I am bowless now ☹️. Please, recommend one for me if you have the time and patience. Which bow would you buy for that price. Thanks in advance.
