    now about present day 🤷🏻‍♂️🌍🌎🇹🇷🇲🇰 I will say this Colonialism has not ended..... it evolved. let me explain. before colonialism " ends " the west chose the leaders of countries to keep their interest in regions take france for example. www.ieri.be/en/publications/wp/2019/f-vrier/france-still-exploiting-africa and take me for example. i am from the middle east and here our " dictators" have been chosen by the west not by us and here they uneducate people Historically , economically and religiously because that's what sustain their rule and my country is rich ,but money is nothing for me and for us muslims in general and here we eat we drink and we sleep ( not me i always study and seek knowledge in all fronts as best as i can and am a civil engineer ) even the cattle eat drinks and sleeps. here🇰🇼 courrption is too obvious and we muslims are in phase one and that's " Realization " to be fully aware from politics to history to religion. and every time a Muslim nation rises the west is unsatisfied and want to overthrow the government. Gaddafi,mursi,Yemeni leader Salah , King faisal in the 70s ( he got assassinated) ....etc way a lot i can't go over them all. HOWEVER, before the Arab spring this i admit was not clear to all of us ,but after the Arab spring EVERYTHING WAS CLEAR. we now came to realize misery is built by the happiness of others and our leaders and boarders were chosen and drawn by the west and we must amd will over throw our governments and stop the western intervention in our lands. sorry forgot ( the western people have nothing to do with their governments in fact we are all slaves to this corrupted system we live under " capitalism " or communism both you use " banks" made you know by who i don't have to explain). now about "slavery has evolved" and this time it favors no race only one in fact 👃 and it favors mostly the dollar. we are born to serve and sustain the system and the system milks the life out of us and we gain " invaluable paper money " in return and sometimes we get in debt which is literally an invisible chain in the neck. basically we are living inside bank and the bank choses who succeed and who doesn't and the bank plays with economy and who built it? "the red shield" known as the rothschilds. our muslim lands are the battlefield of the super powers and when you say next time why refugees are in Europe ask yourself what caused them to be there? that's the correct question. Russia is causing the refugee crisis in Europe by bombing the Syrians and helping Assad to kill his people and the refugees are a toy to send them to Turkey and Europe to weaken their economy and make the left wing fight right wing start wars. Russia has an agenda and don't get wrong Russia, china and America/western Europe are fighting for their agenda to who rules who. all of them are trash. now i want to put it in conclusion. " REALIZATION LEADS TO REVALUATION AND REVELATION LEADS TO REVOLUTION " SOMETIMES IT LEADS TO A VERY DIFFERENT R AND THAT'S RADICALIZATION AND THAT HAPPENS WITHOUT BACKBONE. that's why people go far left or far right. because they are weak in character and btw left wing right wing is a toy for the system no matter who wins the system decides everything not the people nor the government. We muslims are in phase one ,but obviously Turkish people has finished phase three. and we look forward to unite with our Muslim brothers and sisters and no islam is not an Arab please don't let me write about it and Arab is not an ethnicity it's a language. the world is Suffering from western imperialism ( not the people unlike you we understand) most people walk with where the wind pushes them am not like that i hope you understand now. we muslims don't have nationalism and we will unite under our one true banner and turn all the so called Islamic republics, states and kingdoms into one ISLAMIC EMPIRE A CALIPHATE 🇹🇷

If you actually study the situation , you would know that he was put to rule Libya by the UN for a LIMITED amount of time. It was then that he was recognised and nobody doubted that. But guess what, that mandate has passed 5 YEARS AGO. He was recognised up until 2015, that is exactly why the United Nations hasn't taken affirmative action in order to support the supposedly ''legal'' goverment. Meanwhile we should also mention that the ''warlord'' is literally supported by the elected parliament of Libya. Fact-check before you make an argument.

    Amazing content as always Shirvan! really enjoyed the emphasis on explaining the complicated relations between these different countries and how their economic and social interests are fueling their actions. I feel this conflict and in general, conflicts arising in Eastern Europe are very rarely mentioned in public debate and discussion nowadays and are very poorly understood. Similar to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the skirmishes that have been arising this year. I know you have a lot of content on that (but sadly you are the only English source that reports on it) but I would be interested and looking forward to another video diving into this conflict and an update on your view in that matter. As always thanks for the incredible content.

    There isn't that much of an issue regarding the Russian mercs, however, as Moscow is not exerting any political pressure through them in Libya (beyond normal disruption tactics to thumb their nose at the EU and the US, and thus another distraction) -- nor is Moscow in a geographical position to exert any of it's usual influence. If we were discussing Syria, then that would be a much more important aspect to take into consideration. However, the Mediterranean is still beyond Moscow's grasp. Turkey doesn't mind having Russia as an ally in Syria, the Caucuses, and other parts of the northern Middle East, but they certainly want to keep Moscow at arms length when it comes to the Mediterranean.

    At 03:42 you are referring the UN Law of Sea (UNLS). Aegean islands, islets and rocks, which are in close proxy to Turkish mainland are the main reasons of the issue and therefore it cannot be resolved by simply applying UNLS general terms. A special agreement process is needed with the inclusion of International Court of Justice as per article 74 of UNLS.

    The problem here is that neither side wants to compromise. Turkey and Greece have a long and bloody history with each other. So both sides want to cut off the enemy and both feel threatened by the other's expansion. Also the Goverment that tries to establish a healthy relationship with the other side gets viewed as weak and will most likely lose a popularity. Turkey maintains its dictator because he seems strong so Edrogan cannot afford to look weak. And if Mitsotakis doesn't appear to be a strong leader then he will most likely lose the next election as happen to Tsipras when he compromised with North Macedonia. If the two countries had a healthy relationship then this wouldn't be an issue. But sadly we don't. Our media's bombard us with hate propaganda. And we are constantly reminded of the atrocities our opponents committed in the past. Even though the people who committed those said atrocities are long dead by now. I pray to God that the new generation will seek more peace and friendship with our neighbors. Because we are two countries who are struggling economically if we keep bashing each other like this none will get any better and we will all lose in the end.

    Great video, as usual. It's interesting seeing how Egypt, Greece, and Anatolia have overlapping strategic interests that aren't all that different from the ancient power plays of antiquity. Sure, it's about hydrocarbons, but it's still fundamentally territory and trade resources. It will be interesting to see how things continue. My history professor in college had helped with the negotiations for the peace in Cyprus when he was younger, so that has been something that I occasionally take an interest in since he put that on my radar.

    Interesting; there is no solid solution to the Cyprus Issue unless there is Restitution of the Republic. All other scenarios will fail...There's no "TRNC", but rather lands of the Republic of Cyprus illegally invaded, occupied and held by Turkey since 1974. Turkey is using the T/c's to its own means, rather than protecting them; this is more obvious nowadays. Restitute the Republic of Cyprus, restore the freedoms and rights of all Cypriots and the problem will be solved, IF ALSO there is a new agreement made as to the UK bases (their Status) on the island...

  • @Erick_Bloodaxe

    @Erick_Bloodaxe

    @@ephilippos I don’t see how Cyprus being restored solves anything other than mitigating Turkish claims. Yes, Cyprus should not be occupied but the Turks have solid strategic reasons not to pull out. If Cyprus were whole and independent, then that just adds another player to the game. One that would be caught between Turkey, Egypt, Israel, and Greece. Typically in past centuries this just means Cyprus gets invaded periodically by whoever controls Egypt, Anatolia, and the Levant. I’d bet in a modern context Cyprus would just end up as a proxy war with Turkish, Greek, and maybe Egyptian “peacekeepers” on the island providing varying degrees of support to their respective factions. I don’t think Cyprus could maintain full independence unless it had major support from another major power that could deter the locals. UK might deter them for a time, but they’s a great deal at stake and the Brits could be shaken loose with some asymmetric pressure.

  • @ephilippos

    @ephilippos

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Erick_Bloodaxe Dear Erick, undoubtedly, the RoC being restored is a whole better deal not just for the Cypriots but for the West as well. UK's role as a guarantor power has been a shady one to say the least, leaning towards the darker side. This all could change if Cyprus is restored and the Security issue on the island and the areas beyond it, is given to sb bigger, I.E. the USA so nobody dares to invade or interfere with the island again. Cypriots were immature politically to accept a US base in the past (No Nato Turkish troops of course) so a lot of things were learned through all these years. If Turkey or any other wants to have interests in Cyprus, then the same could be said about Greece and this would never end. The mainland turkish presence must be eliminated and liberties restored, and the island to be secured by US troops in harmony with the Government of the Republic. Then it could resume its place in the region, becoming a reliable single partner and not allowing the present situation whereby there are external voices for separate ways on such a small place, with the Northern Occupied part following conflicting strategies to Nato and its allies...

  • @Erick_Bloodaxe

    @Erick_Bloodaxe

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ephilippos that doesn’t make sense from an American perspective. First off, we’re not inclined to get involved in yet another middle eastern theater. Secondly, from a strategic perspective putting US troops on the deck to force the issue of total Cypriot independence from Turkey is just a bad idea because it alienates an important ally. Turkey is important for hosting US assets in the region to counter Russia, Iran, and forces in Syria. Turkey is also in NATO, that can’t be discounted. We can’t go deploying combat troops to forces a NATO ally out of one of its most strategic areas. That would counter and undermine NATO and be a great propaganda win for the Russians. Don’t get me wrong, I think we’ve stupidly “reset relations” Russia just as Obama said he would and Biden continues. They reset relation to Cold War era thinking. This mean Turkey is too valuable to be purposefully antagonized to help a power that would ultimately be at odds with Greece and Israel as well. Oh, and Egypt is an occasional ally, I slept down the street from the Egyptian hospital on Bagram air base in Afghanistan, so they were over there with us as well as the Turks. This sucks, I know, but doing the right thing for one faction does antagonize the others, for us to get involved doesn’t make sense because it hurts our allies as well as our global position overall. At lease that’s how I see it. I don’t think any of the people in the halls of power have a particularly nuanced view of any of this. They think in short to mid term gains and just don’t want to be blamed for anything that might go wrong while they look to consolidate power. Politicians, scummy, and unfortunately consistent.

I cannot accept that we as Cypriots have to lose half or the whole of our island to satisfy Turkey's wants!! @@Jagatai8925 Unlike Turkey, Greece doesn't have any claims. Greece makes its case based on UNCLOS. The map of Seville has never ever been used in Greece as an official position. What they say is to repeat the internationally recognized position. Greece has never sent any research vessels accompanied by military vessels into waters which have not yet been agreed upon neither did Greece sign any Memorandums for contested waters. However Shirvan chose to summerize all this by equating Greece's position as maximalistic just as the Turkush one. Turkey doesn't accept UNCLOS (although it applies it elsewhere) and has made its very own theory which went right ahead to apply without any consultation. Also Shirvan failed to mention the constant polemic retoric of the Turkish leaders that haven't shied away from constantly insulting the Greeks and the Greek leaders, questioning the treaties which make up the current borders and openly displaying irredenrist claims towarda many if their neighbours most evidently Greece. If you're making what you claim to be an unbiased informative video about the current situation in that part of the world but fail to even mention these things I rest my case.. I can only see how it seems unbiased to his fellow Turks and unsespected clueless people from all over the world. It's interesting how such details that he forgets to mention about Turkey here, never does when discussing other countries. It's not his first video in which he takes a clear pro Turkey stance either.

    @@jk34695 that is not how it is drawn. That is just how a country with a stronger army and diplomacy forced that as a fact. The UN law doesn't state if Islands count, and most countries interpret it as the continuous costal line of the main land. Moreover, countries that didn't sign the deal, are not bound by it. Not to mention that the Mediterranean is too small for every land to have 200 nautical miles. So the solution would be bilateral agreements.

Although maybe there is a risk of a domino effect if these struggles become entangled with the Syrian-Turkish strife, which involves proxies of Iran and Israel, and then reaches out to the Gulf States-Iran-Israel rivalries...
