That is indeed what made her rule as Valide Sultan different from Kosem Sultan.After the power struggle she withdrew herself from the state affairs.She handed over most of her powers to the new Grand Vizier Koprulu Mehmed Pasha after a period of weak Grand Viziers as she realized that she was not too experienced to handle the complex state affairs. I think this indeed was her best move and saved her from meeting the same fate as Kosem Sultan.

I think in the era of Turhan Sultan was more peaceful, there was no cruelty and murder to fight for the throne .. That why Turhan is better known as a kind sultanah .. The meaning of Turhan is Mercy, according to her character and personality.

Kosem may had become power hungry at the end. It's because Ibrahim is not fit to rule. She ruled the Empire the longest than any Sultanas. She went through so much when her husband died. She had the balls of a Sultan. Smart intelligent. Turban Sultan was groomed by Kosem but she can't wait for her turn. She snaked Kosem. Kosem may had many flaws but she also had many good qualities & was loved by her people especially during her younger days. Over all my salute to Kosem she ruled for over 40 years one of the powerful woman ruler of her time & to this present time of the world. Kudos Kosem.

Kosem tried to kill her grandson mehmed and tried to put Suleiman at throne because she couldn't rule over turhan , so turhan instead of killing innocent children killed kosem to protect the dynasty from her greed . She did everything according to law .. like proper fatwa and made Mehmet to approve that .

This is like handan sultan and safiye sultann when ahmed , be a sultan😂😂

Mehmet was a good, stable, healthy boy. She never should have decided to assassinate him. I was sad to see the way this was scripted. It was hard to have any respect for her being this way. Then executing Lalezar for only doing right, and Haji Agha just going along with it, I had no more respect for either of them and wanted Turhan to win. However, I have enormous respect for all the actors! They made me care this much! 🤩

What’s even more heartbreaking in kosem’s case is that in spite of turning into a power hungry tyrant towards the end, you can still see little moments here and there of her old self trying to come out. The version of herself that was humane and loved her children as more than just a means to more power. But that version never manages to ever fully take over anymore, and she always reverts back to her stoic, heartless power hungry self. Truly amazing acting 👏🏻 👏🏻

Turhan reminds me a lot of younger Kösem, in the time after Ahmed died, where she was fighting to survive. She couldn't stop until she was the last one standing. The others wouldn't stop, so she couldn't stop. If Kösem could just have stepped a little bit back and even only partially retired, I think Turhan would've been content, but trying to kill Mehmet was going too far.

Actually, Kosem had the backing of the Janissaries but not the people. They were powerful but extremely corrupt and Kosem's end was coming for her. The people who killed her used Turhan's name as a way to gain support because she had the highest chance to be the next Valide Sultan.

One thing that a bit annoying. In the history, the servant who told about Kosem Sultanah planing to poisoning Turhan son is Meleki Hatun. Not Lalezar or Melek Hatun (the babysitter of Farya /maddam Magdalena).

Seriously? How can people still like Kosem after she killed her own son and was prepared to kill her own grandson for power? She could have destroyed the House of Osman in the series!
