"Well we've got this ridiculous situation where we're sitting about at the start/finish line waiting for a winner to come past and we don't seem to be getting one!" Whatever we might say about Hunt's vendetta towards Patrese, as a commentator, this was one of his best lines. (Though if there were a compilation of snipes he made against Patrese, I'd watch/listen to that as well)

By the time of the podium ceremony there was still some confusion about the result. Elio de Angelis who had finished 5th was also standing there. Didier Pironi (second and not visible here) went to the ceremony too. I have seen footage of him going up there as well.

Murray repeatedly demonstrating 'the commentator's curse' there.

Murray once asked Johnny Herbert what was going through a driver's mind when he came in for a pit stop, and Johnny responded "mostly, we're thinking 'I hope Murray Walker isn't talking about me right now'"

If the finish of the race was in a movie I think most people would complain that it wasn't realistic!

I believe that would be incredible to watch live. Very great race!

I think what would have happened if Patrese was disqualified would have been just to move everyone up a position Which would have created history, probably the first ever Grand Prix in which the winning driver was classified as lapped, that and Brian Henton would have scored his first world championship point

Was the reason they changed the Ferrari's front wing to pay respect to Gilles? I always suspected that but I just want confirmation

I don't know what was on the regulation on 1982, but should have been intresting the fact that Mansell has started the rase on P11 with Mclared Ford and finished P4 on a Lotus Ford, unless it is a typo.

@@TurbosTantrums he was due to in 1995 but quit the McLaren team a fortnight before Monaco, their test driver Mark Blundell replaced him and IMO, did a bloody good job for them

I know you Brits love Murray to the end of the earth but as a commentator, JESUS, Murray. Stop saying "here is the winner!" before the race is over! So many declarations before anything is finished

The curse if Murray Walker is a well known phenomenon. He once asked Johnny Herbert what drivers were thinking as they pulled in for a pit stop, and Johnny said "mostly we're hoping Murray Walker isn't talking about us right now.
