My grandpa had a Ford 6000 gas, it was good on light work like mowing and raking hay, hauling silage wagons. But for some reason it would over heat when we tried doing heavy tillage work. His brother in law had one that was a diesel and it was a good tractor.
Man, those 6000s always sounded good. Shame that the wrist pins were weak. With all the technology available today, someone can make quality pistons with wrist pins. Growing up, neighbor had one that was pretty trouble free until he turned it up to 80 to try and keep pace with a 4010. Then the little grenades started sounding off. Loved running it with the 15ft 3point field cultivator and duals. Never enough front weights.
I had a ‘63 with a turbo. Sold it last year. Good power, but finding parts was impossible. Leaked everywhere.
Good or bad I don't know I've heard they were a bit of a problem child and I don't ever remember seeing one here in Southwestern Ontario but I'm sure they where around, I'm not going to make any derogatory comments one way or the other because I never had anything to do with them, but that one sounds great and walking right along getting the work done!!
