Had the same problem with my rs1 diff. Truloc harness fixed it for a little bit then quit working. I honestly think it is the electromagnetic coil burning out but not 100% sure.

Take an old battery and hook a jumper wire to the magnet of diff and put the armature plate on it and see if you can pull it off next time by hand. My issue was/is weak failing magnet.

I just had my diff in my turbo s warrantied from having same issue of not staying engaged. They said the side of the case that has the magnet that engages the diff wasn’t locking in like it should. Could be same issue with that diff.

Video quality is excellent, watching on my lunch break through the car speakers and had good audio too. Videos of just shooting the breeze about random stuff is perfectly acceptable too! There’s only so much content you can capture on a ride, ya gotta do something to keep new stuff coming out. Hated to miss the Moonlight ride!

my xp 1000 was giving me a delayed engagement on 4x4. turned out i was knocking teeth off my snorkel gear on my transmision. and it was slipping. the popping would resonate up the drive line and even sounded like the diff.

The Trulock or Hess override are a MUST upgrade for RZRs and Talons! Honestly I'm not a fan of either AWD system. I prefer a true 4WD system and with manual front locker- thats why I'm going KRX.

I know im way late to the party here but from my research the switch throws a ground to the computer and when conditions are met the computer sends a ground to the diff to engage the coil. With all that back and forth voltage isnt that great to the diff so that harness you got gives much better voltage to the diff and bypasses the computer. I have the same exact problem and built a harness for mine and hopefully it works.

Polaris has a weird design for 4wd. Voltage is a big part in their 4wd. Which is why you don't have 4wd until a certain wheel speed. Check the voltage at the plug on the differential if its not 12 or close to it, thats the issue. The tru lok harness is a good upgrade. Basically once you start adding, light bars, sound systems, winch, etc. You start pulling volts from the diff. The tru lok fixes that. It's a weird system, read into yourself if yall feel like it. It blew my mind too and the tru lok fixed my issue of intermittent 4wd.

You are right ....... I love Polaris AWD but it is weird ...... there is the whole "15 mph" switch on and activates only under certain conditions ..... cool thing is if you don't know it , it never affects you ..... the biggest kick I get is these "mudders" that burn their belts and have no rear wheel (or minimal) think just put in awd and the front will work...... like no, no rear wheel spin, no front wheel drive LOL :-)

That makes a lot of sense because I have the same issue after it gets hot. The fan starts running and thats probably when my problems start due to loss of voltage to the diff. Im building my own true lok be done in a day or so, hopefully it fixes my problem too.

I haven’t seen any video quality problems… 🤷‍♂️ I have the 12 pro max 9000 with the flux capacitor.. I like yalls content.. and everything looks and sounds good! Also if everyone is running the same tire it’s up to the machines and the driver.. that’s my opinion..

Was he running demand drive or gear oil? I know a lot of people run 75/90 and the thicker oil can cause engagement issues.

So, as far as the diff issue goes the armature plate, which is the weird circle with black fingers, is magnetized and attaches to the sprague cage. the RS1 diff requires a constant 12 volts to keep it engaged. There is a kit on the ol interwebs that switches out your existing 4WD rocker with a new on that you tap into a constant 12 volt source. Pop that in, plug in the diff, hook up to 12 volts and your issue is solved. Check on some RZR forums for help if you need it! Hope this helps!!
