Turbo Commander - Wind Shear & Thunderstorms
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
It is May 15, 2023 and you ride along in the mighty Rockwell Turbo Commander as we depart Phoenix Sky Harbor during a wind shear advisory and then use onboard radar, NEXTRAD, and ATC to avoid thunderstorms in an an attempt to make it back to our base in Safford, Arizona. Just one more day in the life of a MEDEVAC pilot.

The turbine commanders are the best looking twin ever built!
You're a cool cat. Awesome flying and descriptions.
Awesome bratha!!!
Brilliant you are back hope you are well now
Nice work
Nice Beech C90 that passed in front of you.
Greetings from Australia, That was a interesting little flight and would have liked to be your co-pilot on it. This flight was very similar to flying up in northern Australia during the monsoon with no such thing as a direct track due to deviations because of weather. Lots of fun ✈️🇦🇺

Thanks Michael. Australia and NZ are on my bucket list in a big way. The nice thing about air mass thunderstorms is they are easy to spot but yes no direct routes here in the summer.

One of these just went down in Australia. A Gulfstream 695A Fire Fighting Bird Dog went down 70km SE of Cloncurry
This is going to be an El Nino year so expect higher humidity levels all summer long.
ATIS All Times It's Sketchy.
@ 7:35 is that Normal left engine fuel flow seems a bit higher
Were you VFR?
what is replacing the commander?

Well nothing can actually replace the Commander ;) but we are shifting to the Super King Air 200.

@@FlyingWildAZ very true! I remember fueling this turbo commander at cutter when I worked there in 2016!

@@FlyFrontier259 I believe the state still owned it at that time and it was based across the airport from you. I ran into one of the pilots who flew it for the state in Chandler about a year ago. Six degrees of aviation.
You guys have a lot of Commanders in Safford...what is going on with that? Are all of them yours?

Yes, we have the largest fleet of Commanders west of the Mississippi
