This video will demonstrate the gas turbine Wren 44 powered Align T-Rex 700 helicopter RC helicopter. Filmed at the Whittlesea Model Aviation Group under the guidance of the AMAS. Big thank you to Ivor Miller from / rcglo1 for assisting me to produce this video.

    I love turdo shaft engines. Ive worked with a couple of 3.7Mw and one 5 Mw. Awesome machines. I've always wanted a Mosquito Helicopter...

    Jody Olivent Hey Jody. Mate I’m in love with this beast. Wish it was my bird 😉. 5Mw, omg that’s insane. I’ve never worked on any turbines before. The Mosquito chopper is so cool, but I don’t think it would lift me off the ground lmao 🤣

    Hey Paul. You're not wrong mate, after watching and filming this big girl I was tempted to buy one. Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying constantly to improve my video production quality. But with no formal training or understanding it's a constant learning curve LOL.

    I can say for sure your videos are getting top notch, if you keep up the pace and you will be making feature films in no time! I just got some new gear and still need to figure out how to turn it on never mind edit the new file format!

    Looks like a beast. I had a Trex450, lasted all of 10min. yeah gave that up straight away hahaha still got it somewhere, maybe one day I'll get it out and give it to the grand kids :/. That last shot of the blades slowing looked damn close :O Nice vid, thanks for sharing :) Stephen

    My stock 700 scares the crap outta me let alone having to deal with it being turbine powered! Another plug for the Demon control, I’d be a bunch richer today if that was around in the 80’s but I might not have been able to afford it then either! Good tail rotor gyros were expensive enough! Great piece of design and machinery.

    G'day mate. Yes I agree with you. These RC choppers can be a little scary at times. I've been flying choppers since the late 90's and they still get my heart racing. Unfortunately I don't own a turbine, but I've got 3 x gas (90 size) and 1 electric 550. Cheers, Aaron.

    Beautiful Heli with crappy looking gas tanks. Paint those gas tanks and it will increase it's looks 100%.

    Lots of set up work there, always amazes me to see Mode 1 set up for a heli, so unnatural but I do takes me hat off to those that can drive a Mode1 Heli👍 A nice scale body would make it visually more appealing🙂

    endwood hey mate. Thank you I’ll pass on your kind words to Ivor. Yes most of us “old school fliers” over here are mode-1. Not sure why that is. Makes it hard to do certain 3D tricks. My brains too old for that now anyway lol. Yes a scale body would be awesome. Cheers mate 🍻

    @@DCT_Aaron_Engineering Most old school drivers are Mode 2 flying a heli or a plane the natural way. When Mode 1 came along it just looked oh so wrong but hey use yr toes in needed as long as we can fly:-)

    endwood oh I agree. In hindsight I wish I did learn mode 2, but back in the 80’s and 90’s most fliers at the field were mode 1. I suppose I just followed the pack.

    @@DCT_Aaron_Engineering Yr right Mode 1 really infected the clubs after 1980, prior to that Mode 2 was prevalent in most places. I fly all modes inc full size thru to heavy metal & Mode 2 seems/feels right:-)

    Damn cool chopper... looks actually very nimble unlike some of the other turbine ones I've seen. Was the conversion done by Ivor? or was it a kit?

    Hey Luke. Yes mate the conversion was done by Ivor. Ivor is a fitter and turner who used to work for TAA or Ansett back in the day. The Wren 44 pretty much bolts in to where the 90 motor would have gone, but he got those base plates and cradle parts cnc machined from a mate. Some nice parts on it. Yeah, very nimble and rock solid in the air. This was filmed last Sunday when it was real gusty. I think XM2 and Crudd need a turbine ;-)

    Hello , i like to know what kind of airframe is used for this heli. I have a T Rex 700 E and the engine is Xicoy X45H but it wont fit, so i like te know is it a 700 nitro Frame ? Greethings from Holland

    Okay maybe someone can point me in the right direction I am looking to buy a turbine powered helicopter but search results have brought up nothing. I don't want one that sounds like a turbine like those airwolf or whatever they are. I want a turbine powered helicopter. Can they be purchased ready to go or almost ready to go? Or will I have to buy the turbine separate then assemble it? Any help with where I would look would be appreciated

    trucker V Unfortunately they aren’t that plentiful. Still some around but I’d keep an eye out on RC forums and internet sale sites. Take a look at the Vario website also. Wish I could help more. Cheers Aaron

I'm just fascinated with turbine engines and can't think of a more bad ass sound they make. I could listen to turbines all day lol.

    Hi, they are header tanks. They feed the turbine directly and the main tank keeps the header tanks constantly full to the brim. This stops air from entering the fuel system and helps to eliminate a “flame out”. Cheers 🍻

    @rcglo1 so basically it the heli i sold you have a look at the go plug u see that clear cover over the red wire not standed . as said more that happy to send and engine no to you.

    My uncle was into the jet powered or turbine powered jets but he said after crashing 2 of them n watching 5 to 6 k go up in flames twice he had enough lol

    Hey Electro, you would have purchase all items and assemble (heli-kit, carbon blades, radio equipment, turbine, ECU etc...). Cost would be $8 - $10K aud
