The best production of Turandot I have ever seen!! Stage design, superb costume, deep touching direction, Lise Lindstrom’s beauty, stupendous singing and acting, Alagna’s modern and believable Calaf made all the sense to this tale. This direction gave us example of all kinds of love and love alone can conquer our inner fear Bravo diand doubt. Icy, cruel princess is vulnerable and tormented and Calaf understood and loved her, not to conquer but love her. I loved this production so much!! Bravos to the Director, Ms. Lindstrom, Mr. Alagna and the best Liu‼️

Oh my...what a production. I mean, wow. So many emotions. I especially like the ending, when all the people are standing and applauding. THIS is so emotional.

The most moving and touching Liu yet. Maria Borsi. Lovely and a controlled voice and so expressive. And that face!

I adore this production. Lise Lindstrom and Roberto Alagna have such unique chemistry. Alagna is easily the best Calaf I have seen and heard. I like the way he graciously never breaks character after 'Nessun Dorma' and just whispers 'Merci' to the maestro. Lise Lindstrom is also my favourite Turandot. I think this Choregies d'Orange is an amazing setting with the acoustics. I have enjoyed several productions from this place.

This production moved me to tears. Thank you so much for posting the entire opera. Lindstrom and Alagna are beyond superb, not to mention all the cast. Alagna renders Calaf a real and sympathetic human being, something I'd never felt before in other productions (except when Lindstrom and Alagna have reprised their roles together!). This is absolutely beautiful in its musical and emotional impact.

I found one of your messages here. "Les beaux esprits se rencontrent" Voltaire (a French writer of the 18thC) wrote. You are a good listener with genuine emotions. I love this production too. And I hope you are fine.

I’ve watched this so many glorious times even though from USA I’m beginning to speak French because of subtitles so often !!!

I have seen Lise Lindstrom 5 times in this role, West Palm Beach, Miami and NYC, and she is always dazzling. This is a wonderful production. Alagna is superb too. But my heart belongs to Lise.

This production grew on me. At first I was a bit skeptical of Alagna's sound, which to me was strained and pinched, but he opened up as the evening progressed. Lindstrom surprised me as the performance went on, as well. In the end, a fine "Turandot".

Otra impresionante versión de Turandot, una magistral puesta en escena, con unos solistas excepcionales y unos coros estupendos. Qué más puedo decir? Cada nuevo montaje trae cosas diferentes, y es inagotable la imaginación y creatividad de los equipos de producción, escenografía, vestuario y efectos especiales, especialmente los que adornaron el final del primer cuadro del segundo cuadro, donde los ministros de Turandot añoran su tierra natal, sus paisajes y su vida reposada, en abierto contraste con el agite de la corte y la interminable procesión de príncipes sacrificados por el orgullo y altivez de Turandot. A lo largo de los tres actos cada pasaje de la ópera tiene sus propios matices, y en todos ellos cada solista pone su grano de arena para entregarnos una interpretación excelsa, sin puntos negros. Roberto Alagna como Calaf, y Lise Lindstrom como Turandot, absolutamente magníficos, dos voces plenas y brillantes que dieron la talla de los personajes que interpretaron, a cual más de exigentes. Y los demás, igualmente perfectos: el Mandarín, imponente en sus cortas intervenciones, Timur, conmovedor en todo momento, Liú, tierna y frágil hasta el sacrificio, Ping, Pang y Pong, a ratos cómicos y dramáticos, y no podía dejar por fuera de mención al Emperador, un personaje discreto pero grandioso en medio de su brevedad.

Bravo, bravo, bravo!💓💐💐💐 Turandot is a holy monster and must look powerful, beautiful and cold, a miracle! Who on earth dare to give her such an outfit? Buh!

ALAGNA ................BRAVISIMO

ENFIN!!!! (inserer jurons et sacres) Une mise-en-scène de ce chef-d'oeuvre qui place le baisé de Calaf au bon moment dans a musique!!! J'ai des très petites plaintes au sujet de cette version, mais en gros, elle est de LOINS superieure à quelqu'autre que j'ai vus depuis longtemps.

Merci beaucoup pour la mise en ligne, c'est un très très bel opéra.

Bien sûr le personnage est là, la conviction est superbe, le texte profondément senti, et le timbre d'Alagna fait merveille dans la mélodie de Puccini. Puis-je pourtant dire qu'on sent le chanteur sur ses gardes, que tout le début est un peu bas, qu'il prend manifestement son élan et ses précautions avant les aigus, que le souffle n'est pas très long...en somme qu'il est à ses limites, des limites sublimes certes, mais tout cela manque de liberté et de réserves vocales. Ceci est la deuxième représentation, et l'ovation qui s'élève dès l'aigu final lancé est la marque de la joie du public, mais aussi de son soulagement: la veille, Alagna souffrant avait fait trembler ses fans en se montrant en réelles difficultés dans cet air. Comme beaucoup, j'ai beaucoup entendu Alagna: aucun Calaf, aucun Canio, aucun Otello, malgré les qualités du chanteur et de l'intrerprête, ne me fera oublier le Rodolfo, le Roméo, l'Alfredo des années 90, et ce Werther vécu, à la diction parfaite de quelques années plus tard. La voix y était libre, naturelle. Un signe: écoutez ici les voyelles appuyées pour donner du poids à la voix et la tirer vers un répertoire qui n'est pas le sien. je dis cela avec peine car j'aime beaucoup Alagna, mais..mais... mais...

Je suis très contente que c'est de nouveau en ligne ♥ j'adore cette version de Turandot ♥♥♥

Commenters here, especially females, seem to enamored of Alagna with hardly a mention of Lindstrom. His singing was okay, but he stumbled badly in Act III when telling Turandot his name. Perhaps the ladies liked his girlie hairdo with bun and spit curls...…...Lindstrom, OTOH, sailed through the murderous part. One wonders that one so young and slender can manage more than a few performances like this. But she showed absolutely no signs of strain or even a hint of the dreaded wobble. More power to her.

Was Calaf 'bad' for Alagna's voice? I wonder... A great tenor. One of the great tenors. All the tumbling nonsense is unwelcome. I don't need to be 'entertained' while watching the character Calaf listen to these off-stage voices. Alagna's voice shows wear, sadly.
