    Thank you so much for the video. It is very helpful. Would you please tell me how i can simulate 2% volume loss during construction. Or, would you please name any materials related to tunnel construction simulation considering volume loss? How about other methods - Load reduction, DCM, etc.? Thank you in advance

    Thank you! Great Video!! I have been looking for this technique for awhile! Do you also know how to add pore pressure effects?

    Thanks for your feedback. In the video of pile modeling in this channel, the effects of pore pressure is considered. 1.soil property>>define permeability 2.boundry condition>>define boundry of drainage 3.predifiend field>> define initial void ratio

    I think when you were defining the tie between surfaces, you chose Magneta for the edge of the surface, but I assume that Magneta arrowhead is the inner side. I am a little confused about this. would you please explain it a little?

    Hi, thank you for your video. I am modeling a similar geometry, but I receive a warning that says: for 32 beam elements either the average curvature about the local 1-direction differs by more than 0.1 degrees per unit length as compared to the default curvature or the approximate integrated curvature for the entire beam differs by more than 5 degrees as compared to the approximate integrated default curvature. this may be due to a user-specified normal or due to the nodal averaging routine used by Abaqus. this difference may cause unexpected behavior of the beam and you may want to verify that the beam normals are correct for your problem. the elements have been identified in element set warnbeamcurvature1. I split the curved part into smaller portions, but I still have this warning. Does it affect the results?

    Hi can you please explain the boundary conditions if earthquake load is applied on this model.i kept the base fixed and am applying hz earthquake load on the left edge but i am confused about the boundary conditions for right edge

    You should look for the equations for calculating the stresses created in the soil due to tunneling in references and articles.

    Hello. Can we use the stiffness reduction method in 3D numerical simulation?

  • @CivilSkill

    @CivilSkill

    Hello Alaa Why not, In the longitudinal direction, divide the tunnel into several sections. In each section, you first reduce the stiffness for the soil elements inside the tunnel, then add the lining, finally remove all the elements inside the tunnel.

  • @CivilSkill

    Do the following: 1. Enter density of saturated soil in material property 2 .you must use soils step instead of static general and customize pore pressure outputs in field output. 3. In load module define zero pore pressure for desired water table in the initial step. 4. At the end, from mesh module assign pore fluid/stress to the soil in element type. I hope it's helpful

    @@alaaahmed3733Ok, I got it wrong with pile simulation and here we don't need define zero pore pressure. usually it will be used to define drainage boundary for drained or undrained conditions. thanks for your reminder.

    Thank you for you. So in this case we just need to put the value of pore pressure for the desired depth. Am I right?

    Thanks, I just got back to property module and edit soil section. There are a lot of reasons for "too many attempts" error, It should be checked(the meshing, defining soil properties, boundary condition etc..
