We have an exact same arched brick tunnel under my back porch on Lexington St.

I went to school SMA Saint Mary's Academy,first communion,movies in Victory Hall had a sister graduated 8th grade

I bet there are a lot more of churches in Mississippi/Savanna/and the Carolinas that have some history dating back to the 1800s underneath them. I would love ❤️ to hear about them.

🤣This is the church to the only all Black private school I went to. We KNOW the story of how the No-Nothings burned down the previous church and how it was used as part of the Underground Railroad. The school itself was closed by the Catholic Diocese not because of low attendance but to merge with one of it's white parishes that had very low attendance 25 miles away. Needless to say no one traveled 25 miles and it's ( the church) still a icon in the Black community.

@@donniethompson8254 yes it is. It ALSO at one point had the ONLY all Black Private school in the area. The things I learned attending there were...WOW...words can not express. When I did go to public school in the 9th grade I learned on the first day I was 2-3 years ahead. The School system refused to allow me to test out and used the excuse that it was because I wasn't taught in the Public School System nevermind the fact that I was ahead. That wasn't a point. Well I did get my Counselor to get me into the Vocational School so that I would learn SOMETHING new the next three years.

I agree. Every time I go to Norfolk when it's raining, 3/4 of the city is practically underwater. 😄
