Hey, great explanation video. Just to avoid some confusion for newer users of MS: PID Disable RPMdot (Max) is NOT the RPM at which closed loop idle will be disabled. RPMdot is a change in RPM in one second. So with a 1000 RPMdot, this means that RPM has to change by 1000 over a period of 1 second for closed loop idle to be disabled. The same goes for RPMdot Threshold (Max)(rpm/sec) setting. This setting means that BELOW set RPMdot, the closed loop idle can activate. So idle can not fluctuate more than 1000 RPM over a period of 1 second for closed loop idle to be enabled. It is important to understand the difference between actual RPM and RPMdot, thought not only for RPM, but also TPS and other sensors. As this confusion can really lead to some unexpected behavior and just chasing your own tail.
Thanks to you I found this video. I use your advices and add more fuel to idle after settings and kaboom it's idle again. 💪

I just started tune the engine for the first time. first fox mustang for me. MS2 engine control. 302 with Powerdyne. I just got MS and MegaLogwiever on my laptop. Luckily, I found your channel. A really big help this kind of Mustang noob ;)

Interesting, I'm going to try your PID settings. Your explanation of what the P-I-D elements do is different than what others have said. I see a lot of advice that says "I just leave it at 50/50/0," and this leaves my motor wildly oscillating, to the point I turned off closed loop and was only using the open loop for warmup.
Great video. I'll try again. Thx
Thank you for this video, helped me get rid of that pesky idle fluctuation

Hi my question is what right time marks on n Golf R32. No a after market manegment. Like Dicktator 60-2

That I have no idea on
how do you fix an idle hang? Example, my hemi swapped dakota will idle pretty reasonably but when i rev it, it will hang up at about 2,000rpm for a few seconds then come down to the target. Its kinda annoying both with the sound but makes low rpm driving kinda annoying too
@BMF_Garage
3 ай бұрын
That usually has to do with the idle air control valve settings. If you adjust it so it responds faster, that would come down faster.
How do you adjust the initial value table. Explain that if you can
@BMF_Garage

I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking. What initial value and on what table?
Great video sir. One question. Can you use autotune while in closed loop?
@BMF_Garage
Жыл бұрын
It’s best to use it after warm up enrichment is off.
Im having an issue with my Lincoln Mark Vii, it has a 347 stroker on it, with a Megasquirt, and the idle is oscillating very aggressively. When I put the car into Drive, or Reverse, it stabilizes and idles just fine. I tried lots of different configurations to try to fix it and just cant get it right. Do you offer remote tuning?

Yes I do! 50/hr. If you can send me a datalog and a copy of your tune, I can take a look. Email to brooks@bmfautomation.com
I have questions about starting after a "heat soaked" motor. Whats the best way to get a hold of you? Thanks!

This won’t work with a stock ecu. You would. Need something like hp tuners that can work with factory type ecu, or Cobb.

What type of ecu should I buy for my 1998 mustang with a 306? Right now I'm running a stock 95 ecu but I'm having a ton of issues as you do without a tunable ecu

Hey! Thanks for the help. I'm trying to get the ECU to respect my target curve, but it's idling at about 1000 when i have it set to 850. The AFRs seem fine so I don't know what to do. Should I remove air and fuel or should I let the ecu figure that out?
@BMF_Garage

There’s too many variables without looking at your tune, but yes… adjust air and fuel to get around 14.2 idle or also adjust the throttle body stop screw can take away air…
@highvisibilityraincoat
Жыл бұрын
@@BMF_Garage How do you suggest I take away air? I was told not to mechanically change the iacv .
@BMF_Garage
Жыл бұрын
I was referring to adjusting your throttle stop screw. Your idle is a function of how much air and fuel are available at idle… if you can’t take more fuel away, you have to provide less air.
@highvisibilityraincoat

@@BMF_Garage so theres no way in software for me to manually change the idle duty while in closed loop?
@BMF_Garage
Жыл бұрын
Again, depending on how you have your car setup there are options just because it’s tuner studio doesn’t mean all applications are the same. Did you check your warmup enrichment table? The number in the final column at the hottest temperature is what the iac will use after warmup. You can make changes to that number and see if it helps.
I’ve tried everything I just put a vortech v3 on 93 mustang and my targets don’t even come close now and yea I’ve adjusted for boost in kpas and now you can’t hear the cam ... any thing you suggest to do

i came here hoping for INITIAL VALUES explanation. thanks anyways.
@BMF_Garage
3 жыл бұрын
The initial value depends on many variables which aren’t always the same car to car or engine to engine. There’s just too many variables involved for there to be a blanket statement for every engine to be grouped in. I’d suggest doing some research on your specific engine to find out what the factory settings are and then you can progress from there.... that’s how I do it anyway.
A little less talk and more pointing to where make the changes then explain the effects. I lost you

In my opinion the talking was necessary to fully understand the concepts being covered. I tried to add call outs (arrows or circles) but to also highlight the areas I was talking about. Did I miss some? Keep in mind this is a screen recording so pointing to the items on the screen doesn’t work especially well because you can’t see what my finger is pointing at.
