tuna melt | kitchen witches | 8PM
in this episode of kitchen witches, raven makes a gooey, luscious, cheesy, mouth - watering tuna melt. the catch? it’s keto friendly and instead of bread we use fathead dough. recipe below ... be sure to let us know in the comments if you try it out and what you think :)
TUNA:
1 can of tuna in water
2 tbsp of mayonnaise (nonfat greek yogurt works too)
Onion powder to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
Cheddar cheese (or any cheese you like) for melty goodness
FATHEAD DOUGH:
1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp cream cheese
1 cup fine ground almond flour
1 egg beaten
Place mozzarella and cream cheese in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for one minute, stir and repeat until smooth. Remove from micro and stir in the almond flour and beaten egg. Let cool a bit and then knead. If the dough is too sticky add a bit more flour. Set aside to rest. When ready to eat you can bake in the oven or cook on the stove top until fragrant and golden.
TUNA MELT ASSEMBLY:
Mix mayo and seasonings into the tuna. Set aside. Oil a skillet, cook the fathead dough flipping halfway through. Remove once golden brown on both sides and place your tuna into the hot skillet. Warm the tuna until a nice crust starts to form on both sides. Place cheddar cheese on top and cover. Once melted put your cheesy tuna over your fathead dough. Option to add lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, mustard, ketchup, whatever your heart desires! Enjoy!

I'm Mexican living in this Texas melting pot. So much food inspo to choose from! It was rainy this weekend. So I made Yachaejeon (Korean veggie pancakes) with kimchi on sat and my famous Pozole rojo de cerdo (Mexican pork stew/soup) on Sun. It was a comfort food weekend LOL. Supposed to be rainy this weekend too. So next weekend will be veggie Harumaki on Sat and Spanakopita on Sun! You guys gave me the inspo to make tuna melts for dinner tonight! I am so hungry after this post🤣💚💜

You guys should try to make spicy tuna sushi rolls. Sriracha + Mayo + ketchup + black pepper in tuna is BOMB. Sesame oil fried carrot shreds, lettuce, and avocado slices wrapped up with tuna filling is absolutely chef kisses. HIGHLY recommend you try it 😁💖✨

I NEVER thought about frying the tuna before putting it on the bread or however one likes to eat a tuna melt! I usually just toast the bread or make it like a grilled cheese?!?! Lol. Definitely gonna have to try that 😋

Make your life easier, if you are going to use that small of a pan, get a smaller flipper. Since the cast-iron is ceramic coated, a silicone spatula will serve you well, and will not harm your pans. You run the risk of scratching or nicking the ceramic with that big honkin flipper.
Pretty sure I just cringed myself inside out watching Raven scratch the skillet with a metal spatula
