This exact thing happened to us out of Oregon Inlet..on the Capt. BC. We absolutely slayed the yellow fin!

Bad idea? An invention. A bait that has a small charge that detonates when a certain amount of force is pulled on it. Thus immobilizing the fish immediately, quicker reel in time and keeps the meat even better as it doesn't heat up/build lactic acid from the fight. Just a thought as I sit here bored in my living room LOL

Not far off of the guys who harpoon swordfish and bluefin with a wire attached to the harpoon that shocks the hell out of the fish after impact. Seems like it would be difficult to get a charge to go off in a tuna's mouth without losing the fish in the process. I could see similar technology being used for commercial bluefins one day if someone figures it out.

Man what a day. We do ok in NJ but it ain’t no OBX style yft fishin. Let me know if you need a few guys to help out and split expenses.
