Without Arn and Tully, there was no Four Horsemen. Without the Four Horsemen, there wasn't a main event for JCP.

It's the other way around. Jim Crockett wasn't loyal to Tully and Arn, but especially Tully. Tully became the top heel for JCP in early '84. He built on that all the way through to the end of '85. His feuds with Dusty Rhodes and Magnum T.A. are legendary, and are considered as being some of the best of all-time. Who else beat Dusty for the NWA World TV Title twice, and the NWA National Heavyweight Title? Nobody. Who beat Magnum, when Magnum was undefeated and the NWA U.S. Heavyweight Champion? Tully did. A promoter doesn't put a man in those spots if he isn't capable of doing the job. Tully feuded with Wahoo and teamed with Wahoo. He feuded with Flair and Steamboat. Crockett had Tully do commentary on matches, a lot, and he also did interviews. Tully knew how to get the heat, the crowd furious, and he knew how to tell the story in and out of the ring. His matches and promos were excellent. Tully had the championship belts, the money, Baby Doll, the fine cloths, and the expensive jewelry. Then he became one of the original members of the best unit in pro wrestling history, the Four Horsemen. Ric, Tully, and Arn carried the company for the next three years. They could work with anybody, and they did. If JCP is throwing money around and giving guaranteed contracts to the Road Warriors, Lex Luger, Cornette and the Midnight Express, Tully and Arn should have the first guys taken care of, not the last. Tully told the truth on what was going on in JCP, Dusty and Crockett didn't like it, and the rest is history.

Tully & Arn always enjoyed all their matches in singles but definitely when they tagged. They pull the crowd. Tully & Arn performed every time they entered the ring👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

i have enjoyed these interviews with Tully. Great wrestler.

Considering how many substances he's ingested over the years I am inclined to give him some slack on forgetting that. Great to see him having turned it around!

Jim Crockett Jr. put JCP out of business with his dumb decisions.

Tully was great

I wonder if Crockett had gotten wind of them meeting with Vince and planning to leave anyway before everything else happening. Not justifying it, but it didn't make sense to not keep Tully and Arn happy, the horsemen were the NWA at that time .

A lot of wrestlers from JCP all left for the WWF with the same story. Tully and Arn, Big Bubba Rogers, Barry Darsow...all left because of money issues, broken promises, and disrespect from Jim Crockett.

Some time the truth hurts. No matter what the situation is. Plain and simple.

I guess it was just part of God's plan . Tully is a preacher now and he's gotten out of the crazy lifestyle of wrestling.

Tully was a great heel. Tully was the best member of the 4 Horsemen. When Tully and Arn left the nwa in 1988 it was an end of 4 Horsemen era.

I have too agree with Tully

Always the consummate wrestler I've seen so many good matches that he was a part of. I remember the one where he was fighting Dusty Rhodes and Magnum TA was at ringside with his crutch and the money he was holding onto was stolen.

Tully was very loyal and always gave his best regardless of the match. There was no better heel tag team than Arn & Tully. I certainly saw a difference when Tully became a born-again Christian.

When did NWA become WCW? 1990?

Pretty much... although I don't think it was official till shortly after Flair regained the world title from Sting in early 1991. That's when they had started calling the title the WCW world title.

I tip my hat to you Tully. Thoughtful and as non-inflammatory commentary ever provided by any pro wrestler anywhere. FWIW, in 1985 you did a show at Raleigh's Dorton Arena that I took my then 11 year old son to. He was a big R&RX and Magnum TA fan. He did not like any of the heels and Nikita Koloff in particular. After the matches, everyone waited on the floor for y'all to come out of the dressing room and as fate would have it, you were delayed going to the dressing room as you were in a focused discussion with what I presumed to be a fan of yours. Well, my son could not get near the good guys dressing room so I pointed out that there you were and that he should go over and get your autograph. He did not want to at first but after a little coaxing he went over and interrupted your conversation asking for an autograph. To your credit sir, you took time with my son and made into something more than just a "here's your autograph kid" kind of moment. From that moment on, I saw you with very different eyes. Similar story when Nikita came out in his street clothes and he got his autograph. And then Nature Boy came out styling and profiling and I said, "there he is, the man!" He was SCARED. So I walked over with him to Ric and then backed away. And again, just as you and Nikita had done, Ric took at least seven minutes talking to him and showing an interest in him as a young man. All three of you are top drawer human beings in my book and even though the memory has faded for my son, it remains firmly ensconced in the mind of this old man. Thank you sir and may God bless all three of you...

For me, the day Tully and Arn left was the day the NWA\JCP ended. Half of the Horsemen were gone, and more would follow It seemed as if the old NWA I was used to was now gone.

At :17 - They weren't wrestling Bobby, and Dennis, they were wrestling Bobby and Stan.

Notice how Tully asked when they wanted him to drop the belts. Even though he was being screwed out of money, he knew that when you leave a territory you're supposed to do the favors. Someone needed to remind Bret Hart of this fact.

Bret had certain clauses in his contract that Vince couldn't ignore. Tully didn't have a contract at all

Vince was buying all the talent and spending money Crocker should have did the same thing but Crockett didn't he had to listen to Dusty it's like they I took starrcade out of Greensboro and and letting Tully and arn go that was stupid that was the part of the nwa if Crockett had any sensitive buying the territories you should have bought more Talent

Many of them did not. Until the end of WCW almost none of them got screwed. Try, Undertaker, Foley and Austin just to name a few who were treated great because they had some talent on the mic and in the ring. That's bogus and there was more money there until the ridiculous mid to late 90's when Bishoff spent it like water, otherwise they all jumped ship for the WWF.

I remembered when this happened. I was so mad at the Crockett and the organization for screwing things up the way they did. It didn’t need to happen. It was almost as bad as tuning in to watch my favorite show and seeing Vince McMahon.

His story and Arns not actually in sync.

They left due to the Bash in 1988 in Baltimore because of JJ Dillon was paid more

WWF took advantage of Tully (and Arn) too. Arn said in his RF shoot that they were about $50K behind on what they were promised and that's why they asked for a release to go back to NWA/WCW. Arn said that the year in WWF was his biggest money year by far. While they finishing their WWF bookings Tully failed a drug test. NWA/WCW refused to rehire Blanchard when news of his failed drug test became known. In 1993, WCW him a $500 per appearance contract to reform The Four Horsemen at Slamboree 1993. Blanchard did not accept the offer, considering the offer to be too low, and WCW replaced him with Paul Roma.

The most hated and underrated horsemen

It sounds to me listening Tully and his body language that he truly disliked Stan Lane. Why would he purposely leave him out in this segment and say Dennis, when they must of worked several dozen times together in 1988.

Whst killed The Brainbusters , aside from that name , was saddling two good promo guys with Bobby " Cartoon Balloon " Heenan . It was like they didn't want them to succeed . They did the same to Flair even though Flair was in a rut and probably wasn't as good as he had been .

funny how, they did not renew there contract BUT, they were the disloyal ones....

Yeah. Tully didn't squander his talent, but he sure didn't live up to it either. Keep in mind; JJ, Ric, & Arn went in the HOF, but the engraved invitation said them and a "plus 2" or Barry or Tully wouldn't have got in the door. I will say this; other than Bret Hart, he was the best Promoter / Booker's kid of all time....

Don't agree with your first statement, and don't know if your second one is factual. Tully definitely lived up to his talent. They used Tully on commentary, he did interviews, he feuded with the top babyfaces in Dusty, Magnum, and Steamboat. That stuff continued with the Horsemen from early '86 until him and Arn left in the fall of '88. They simple were the best at what they did, and Tully was loyal to Crockett for almost five years. As far as the WWE HOF goes, I never heard that story about only Ric, Arn, and J.J. only being on the engraving, and a "plus 2." How is the WWE going to induct the Four Horsemen with only Ric and Arn as wrestlers? Ric, Arn and Tully were the shoe-ins into the HOF, they were the original version of the Four Horsemen, and the true nucleus of the group. You can't have the Four Horsemen inducted to the WWE HOF without Tully Blanchard, that is Blasphemy! Barry got the final slot because Ole told Vince to "F-Off!" J.J. gets in as the manager. J.J. doesn't get in before Tully does, that's for sure, and neither does Barry. He was only with the original trio for six months. Never heard your story ever, and I don't think it is correct.
