To answer decay questions... the boats start to decay 24 hours after they were last used. It takes 36 hours from that point to go from 3000hp to 0hp. Once the tugboat sinks, it takes 2 hours on the ocean floor before it despawns, and while it's despawning on the ocean floor you can raid the doors to take the deployables without authorizing on the TC. Edit: Many people on Twitch, Twitter, etc. are saying that the decay time is only *6 hours* because of Rustafied's update stream. They've update their blog post to reflect the numbers above. These are the default server convars: tugdecaystartdelayminutes 1440 (24 hours) tugdecayminutes 2160 (36 hours) tugcorpseseconds 7200 (2 hours)

Turret gunboats would be obscene and broken. No matter how cool it would be lol. Im imagining those little speed boats going up rivers like Vietnam blaring Fortunate Son while the turret melts nakeds.

Theres actually a way to add shotgun traps to your boat but you cant power auto turrets and stuff on it (atleast that i dont know of) if you place a shelf on your boat you can place shotgun traps and flame traps you just cant wire up auto turrets tho

I like how the tugboat sinks instead of dropping all the loot in it meaning if you want to get the loot you cant just torpedo it and get everything, you have to bring c4 for the doors when they go underwater or you gotta try to break the doors before sinking it to save some gp.

or at least make it 1x craftable vs 3... 360 gp and 12 pipes is slightly better but still pretty cheap

The tug boat is really cool I do wish there was at least some way to have automated defenses for the tug boat but i bet you could make a water base and park the tug by it I wonder if there will be a way to anchor it in place though. also the torch skin is really cool

@@MisterFlak I wonder though if someone else had another tug boat could they move your tug boat by pushing into it but that is cool that it stays in place i thought it might drift around but the anchor would be so people couldnt push it with other boats which i doubt a rhib would be able to rush it very effectively but it might be possible idk though

Someone found you can place turrets and shotgun traps on the shelves item. Place a shelf, place your traps. You still can’t wire electricity to the auto turrets tho, but at least we have shotgun traps for now.

Just an FYI; you can actually put turrets, traps, solar panels and even electric furnaces onto the tug boat. It's very risky though, because while you cant place them directly onto the tugboat, you can place them all on salvaged shelves which can be placed on the tug boat. Only power source will be small batteries though

Does the glitch with stacking boxes on music box easter eggs or something similar still work and if so can it work on the tugboat

Weird how you will be able to change to another server where there is no one playing just to get good loot and resources and then go back without any problems, hopefully it gets looked into or it's very expensive in terms of scrap

You choose what server your server connects to, I doubt most server owners will link to an empty server unless they want to lose half their population.

Its kinda rough that itd only be one door (whether thatd be sheet or armored hardly matters) to TC and the same for the full loot room. Making a tug boat be the main base wouldve been a full option if there was some sort of air lock for at least the loot room. Otherwise someone could just get onto the boat, doorcamp one door, and run off with all the loot.

i understand why they disallowed turrets from the tugboat, imagine clans blockading oil rig with it and not only do you have to deal with actual players but also their turrets shooting at you and worse if they'd allowed SAMs to work on it! i don't think i'd want to play rust anymore at that point were that the case, however since those things are disabled what i would like is a Rust pirate bundle with the Eoka having a flintlock skin, don't get me wrong i think the deep sea stuff looks grand but there hasn't been a day where i've been on a boat in rust not singing the pirates of the carribean theme with my friends for the memes.

Can you push it onto land? It seems like the largest downside is the weakness to subs. Once that's taken away it seems quite overpowered.

What if you build a huge boat base with a roof? Will that keep it from despawning?

Welp, they had a great idea and ruined it. 12 torpedos or HVs to loot means these things are effectively just bigger RHIBs for any non zerg team. I imagine quite a few "I sunk a zergs boat with a submarine" videos are on the horizon. Hope they change that.

I took authorization from the tugboat and have been able to sail out. A day later this was no longer possible. The engine starts but it no longer moves, throttle stay at zero. I use the standard control keys. At the screen below I think I see [w] Thrust. I have no clue how to move it. (it's not stuck, boat is at open water)

Test how much fuel it eats as it is turned on. Is it possible to put a small crate / lap on the bridge to keep spare fuel in it. Is it possible to place vending machine in one off the 2 frames door in bridge ? How does building privacy affect an existing closet already built by someone if one approaches such a base/walls ?

How do I escape these, I’ve been chased by a duo with a full inventory of loot when I’m on a normal boat and can’t do anything against getting chased down and sniped.

If we can server hop it would be impossible because I could just go to a 1000000000x server and bring back enough loot to make the server chaos

@@es0x but then they have to raid the door when it sinks.. doesn’t make too much sense to sink it unless you: 1) think you can outplay them underwater (bringing diving gear and spear guns) Or 2) need to kill them as a raid defense. Both involve zero loot without taking out a door.

@@wannabetravelers5493 the difference is the door can be raided for 300 gp worth of torpedoes once the boat is sunk, vs the roughly 1000 gp it costs above water. Think before u comment dawg

Yeah check my previous video. Bags, beds, furnaces, all tables, workbenches, lockers, boxes etc. You can fully make it a base with doors

I was kinda disappointed about the new hazmat skin not giving similar properties of a full diving kit. It's a little confusing and probably misleading, despite the brief description on the Steam page saying vaguely that it was found in the abyss and is no longer suitable for its original function. Would it be pay-to-win though? Absolutely, just like many other item skins that are/were available. Since we've already crossed that bridge, I think we should be able to dive with it, albeit with limited movement speed (noting lack of flippers), and reduced visibility (i.e. cracked/dirty glass), and perhaps shorter oxygen supply compared to the existing diving tank. Acting as a traditional hazmat and full diving kit would be too OP. Maybe it should limit your movement speed on land as well. Why does it have to be a hazzy skin? It could be its own entity, rare underwater crate spawn, not craftable, unless you buy the add-on pack. What do you guys think?
