Is it mary tudor and mary queen of scot are the same? Its very confusing.. Theres a lot of characters and persons with the same name.. Thanks to who can answer

No, they are not. Henry VIII is the father of Mary, Elizabeth and Edward Tudor, Mary Stuart (the queen of scots) is the granddaughter of Henry's sister Margaret who married the Scottish king. Her son is Mary Stuart's father. Mary Stuart's claim to the English throne is based on her descendance of Margaret's and Henry's father, King Henry VII of England. Mary Tudor became Mary I of England after her half-brother Edward died. When she died, Elizabeth succeeded her. Mary Stuart on the other hand, who was just as catholic as Mary Tudor, became ~6 days after she was born queen because her father died in battle. After Mary Tudor's death there was a controversy who should succeed her, since Mary Tudor was a proud catholic. The catholics thought of Mary Stuart as the rightful heir and the protestants of Elizabeth, who in the end was the queen of England. Little fact by the side, Henry VIII and Margaret also had a sister called Mary Tudor who became Queen of France. If you look into English history, you will find many queens or members of the royal family called Mary, Elizabeth, Katherine or Anne. I hope I could make that a little clearer to you.

I feel like Mary was the Ashley of those times. Way too many people named their child Mary.

I admit that I always have a soft spot for Mary and her mom. The more I learned about her story, the more I admire her. Mary I is my most favorite historical figure and Queen Regnant of England.

I feel so bad for them both because they were "only" girls. If they both had been a Boy, than their father wouldnt bring their mothers so much pain. I mean Mary had a very sad life her mother was sent away and Mary was made a Bastard. Then her father forbid her to see her mother even in the hours of Katherines death. Elizabeth had also an very afwul childhood. Elizabeths mother was hated by the people and known as the Kings whore. Anne lost her head because she failed to give Herny a son. Elizabeth was made a Bastard and Herny forbid all the Ladies who served Elizabeth to speak of her mother. Atleast it was Elizabeth who was the great Queen, she was a real fighter. I wish Mary had also been such a great Queen. I think she really didnt deserved her nickname "Bloody Mary".

Yeah I’m still here She executed 200-300 people in total. I don’t justify her religious persecutions at all because any religious persecution cannot be justified. But she really didn’t deserve the nickname since all the other European monarchs, princes, and clergies did the same. They waged war and committed slaughters far more atrocious than Mary. Apparently they didn’t get the nickname. For example, Mary’s father Henry VIII executed hundreds of more times of people than Mary did. And he wasn’t remembered as Bloody Henry. And people often forgot how Mary managed to be the first recognized Queen Regnant of England. If it wasn’t her who set the ground, people would have a harder time to accept Elizabeth as Queen.

@@SG-pu3rx that began under her heir james 1st first king of the house of stuart when he became king of England and a few years later England established its first colony in 1607 in what is now Virginia after the Tudor dynasty ended and that was a couple years after Elizabeth's failed attempt at colonization of the Americas during her reign

@@parissanders1800 Looks like you have a bit of confusion and couldn't differentiate "Slavery" and "Colonialism". She was as much of a slaver as her heir which took what he saw from his predecessor further and started English colonies. Distorting and falsereading what I wrote won't gonna unmade Elizabeth's slaver persona or her intentionally further strengthening the xenephobia in England... But whatever helps you sleep at night I guess

Very nice vid! Just wanted to say: Mary Tudor is not the same person as Mary Stuart Mary Tudor (Elizabeth's half sister) reigned before Elizabeth got the throne of England, and died. When Elizabeth took the throne, Mary Stuart(Elizabeth's niece) was queen of Scotland.

+juutepuutjuh I'm actually well aware of that ;) That's why I vidded the Tudor sisters and took footage for Mary from The Tudors, where she was portrayed by Sarah Bolger, while the ones from Elizabeth is from The Tudors & Reign (teenager & queen). Maybe I should have added Tudor into the title so it is more obvious for those who haven't seen both TV series ;)

Mary Stuart wasn't Elizabeth's niece she was her second-cousin. May's grandmother Margaret who was the eldest daughter of King Henry VII of England was Elizabeth's aunt.

I love this video Well done and can I get no hate plz because I personally think Mary I was a great queen and doesn't deserve the title Bloody Mary although she did kill thousands and that she will never be forgiven what most ppl don't know is that burning ppl was a common practice at the time and since she was such a disappointment to her father and nation I guess she just wanted to prove her strength so she wouldn't be seen as the cowardly girl she was brought into the world as,also at the time of her reign Mary was actual extremely popular so actually I think Mary and Elizabeth were great queens

Also she never burned thousands, those were her father and brother trying to burn Catholicısm out of their own people. (Don't think I have a religious bias pls, I'm a proud atheist) she burned arround 300 and killed less per year than any other monarch in her nuclear family, so her not deserving that nickname is a "fact-checked " thing at least being the less deserving of the name among her glorıfıed family members...

I think I have heard of the series. It is Spanish, isn't it? I wish I did pay better attention to Spanish in school. I do not know how I past it with good without having any idea about its tenses and grammatical forms. Today I wish I did really put my efforts into it because there are so many Spanish historical dramas I want to see. I already suggested some to Netflix since atleast here in Germany they offer Grand Hotel and Velvet but so far none of the other's have been added. I would love to see a portrayal of an older Mary. Clearly I'm rather a Elizabeth girl but I do not understand why Hollywood or any TV broadcaster (I'm looking at you BBC) did not really bother to make a series or movie about Mary. I mean her life gives enough material for drama and it is quite a compelling story of woman who stood up for her believes. (well killing protestants was probably not the way I would choose to establish my rule but it shows that she was quite headstrong.)

I love Mary Tudor with all my heart, I think all the politics of Elizabeth just built a really bad imagen about her cuz they were protestans BUT I do believe Mary should do things a little more different and I love that Elizabeth never liked that people talked shit about her older sister and also a little mother of her. Mary had a terrible life and it would be amazing to have a tv series about her and her sad life. Anyway and sorry for my english I'm clearly from Argentina, but yes it is from Spain and its a great tv series and Mary's life is really good portrayad by that actress. Even though she is blonde and not ginger.

In which series? Do you mean Reign? Reign is about Mary Stuart, not Mary Tudor aka Queen Mary I of England, Elizabeth's half sister and daughter of Katherine of Aragon.
