I've lived in Phoenix (proper/metro) for decades, and I can honestly say that whatever charm it once had is pretty much gone. Huge, pretty dirty (in the public areas), artless, beige, cookie-cutter, often run-down, over-priced/under-paid, with a tangled mess of freeways full of angry drivers. I haven't been to Tucson in decades, but I used to like it everytime I went down there. I vote for Tucson!

Nicely balanced and informative vid! My mom is 3d generation born in Sedona (as unlikely as that seems); my dad earned his BA at AU in Tucson; I was born in Phoenix. Our family moved east when I was an infant; your video is useful in evaluating which city feels like “home”

I recently sold my home in Portland, Oregon and moved to Cape Coral, Florida because of the weather and over 90 miles of cycling paths. Being raised in the Northeast, this is where we go to retire (both my parents and grandparents went there). However, it has not met our expectations. The cycling paths are 95% with traffic and the wind is incessant. Luckily we are renting and plan now to move to either Phoenix or Tucson. Your video help out a lot. I know Tucson has “The Loop” so it is #1. Thanks.

I was checking your channel after a while, and I thought I had stumbled upon an old video of yours, because you looked way younger. I was wrong. Whatever you're doing, you look way better now 😊 That being said, I'd choose Tucson over Phoenix because like you said, it's generally safer, less hot, and you can escape the heat by going to Mt. Lemmon or Madera Canyon. And see snow at those places in winter.

Ha! Thanks for the compliment! Yes I look different in those older videos, that’s for sure. 😄 I love Tucson for many reasons, but I loooove that we can escape to snow in the winter when we want to! My family just went to Mount Lemmon this past weekend and played in the snow and had a blast 😁😁😁

I obviously love Tucson more because I have been working towards moving there for years, but the freeways in Phoenix are second to none and the east side is rather nice. I do like Gilbert, Mesa, Apache Junction and the Mesa airport is really nice.

Tucson is totally over the top WOKE and comes with all of that Socialist baggage. And, it's not getting any better any time soon. The Mayor and Council are hard left and businesses, roads, the Crime rate are all getting worse due to their mismanageme nt!

I lived in Tucson for 10 years and Phoenix for 30. I think you covered the most important differences (though, you should refer to the metro populations and not the populations of the cities proper when comapring populations; the Phoenix metro has nearly 5 million people, which is about five times Tucson's population). There are many, many reasons to prefer one over the other, but after living in the two for so long and discussing this topic so much, I think it REALLY boils down to: Choose Phoenix if: (1) you want a high-paying job, because nealy every one in the state is in Phoenix (2) you want big-city amenities, including more direct flights, more entertainment options, and a larger dating pool Choose Tucson if: (1) you prefer a small-town feel, including being able to avoid endless freeways and sprawl (2) you prefer a unique culture, instead of the generic suburban culture of Phoenix Personally, I never FELT that Phoenix was THAT much hotter than Tucson. I prefer Phoenix's natural environment, but am not surprised, at all, that you prefer Tucson's. It really just comes down to the four differences above, IMO.

If you are Conservative move to Phoenix, if you're Liberal Tucson is more your speed. Tucson is a blue island in a mostly red state. Just know, Tucson is NOT a city. It doesn't think like a city, it doesn't look like a city, it does not FEEL like a city. What Tucson is, is a great big town. Period. Things are slower in almost every respect. That includes business, politics, and culture. Come here and try to change it and you are barking up the wrong tree. Tucson is set in it's way with a HUGE retirement and older demographic. Know this going in and you'll be fine.
