With Mike & Sean Tucker (great-grandsons of Preston Tucker) and Mark Lieberman (owner of Nostalgic Motoring), Preston Tucker's Speed Shop takes a tour of Tucker #1044, the most awarded Tucker ever. After being discovered by Mark Lieberman in a barn where it sat for 35 years, owner Howard Kroplick purchased the car in 2017. Howard worked with the Tucker 1044 restoration team, spearheaded by Rob & Bob Ida, to produce the highest quality and most accurate Tucker restoration ever. Team members included Mike & Sean Tucker of Preston Tucker LLC, Rob & Bob Ida, Russ Montelbano, & Arthur Wright of Ida Automotive, Artie Zygnerski of Lowkey Fabrication, and Bruce Devlin of Bruce Devlin Interiors. Tucker 1044 has won numerous awards to date and continues to be recognized as such at the following events:

Never knew about the seats being modular, neat......I really wish they could have made more of these back when new. Such an interesting car, it would be nice if the average antique car enthusiast could have a better chance at owning one.

But the average multi-millionaire antique car enthusiast CAN own one, as long as he's patient. These cars don't come on the market every day... or every year, for that matter. Oh, you didn't mean a MULTI-MILLIONAIRE antique car enthusiastbut just an average non-multi-millionaire antique car enthusiast like you and me? That's OK, my name isn't Jay Leno either. Question: does Jay have a Tucker? And if not, why not?

Beautiful car. Since I was a kid, I was fascinated with rear end. That fastback look, harmonica grille and triple exhausts is so eye catching. The compact dash is actually pretty in 1940's art-deco style. As a side note, the car is much prettier with whitewalls but there's an appeal with the blackwalls. Many Pebble Beach cars have them because it focuses more attention on the body.

Hello Mike and Sean, I was surprised to hear the idea of the front passenger compartment as a safety feature described as "crazy" and treated like it was naive and laughably hokey as well as an assessment that it really wouldn't offer much if any protection in a collision . Why would this person say such a disparaging comment , since it was obviously his opinion . Especially considering that the introduction of seat belts , which caused so much criticism and were belittled , when they were truly innovative as well as the functioning pop-out windows . I think these details showed a mind set that was , for the time , very conscientious and innovative in terms of safety . Also the padded dash and surrounding pads on the doors additionally were an innovative idea. Also , when describing the interior features , why was there hardly any camera time in close up detail , instead of just a wordy description ? The lack of close-up camera shots was very noticeably lacking. When the wheelbase comment was made , why wasn't there at least a picture of another , shorter wheel based model ? I was stunned by these things . And by the comments of the speaker . Please consider these points I've made because your view count suffers and will continue to as a result.

It was a drivable survivor. Didn’t drive it but started listening to the owner about Mr Tucker and the other things he did….smart guy!!! When the movie came out, the owner here along with his wife got to be extras due to loaning several period correct cars plus the Tucker itself.

Did this car get the modern updated torsion rubber installed? Most Tucker's became undrivable due to the rubber suspension deteriorating.
