Perverse to see unwavering support for Ten Hag. He chose low-quality, injury-prone players for huge fees and exorbitant wages. They cannot be sold for value and will not leave. This constrains the club for the next 3-4 years. If he remains, we might be in the bottom half of the table next season. Marks saying all managers that get sacked have fell out with the owner is nonsense drivel. Middlesbrough sacked Woodgate because he wasn’t good enough and almost got us relegated, he went with our best wishes and now is a coach under Carrick. Would you have said Ole fell out with United when he got sacked? No. I seem to remember him giving an interview saying how much he loved managing the club and how brilliant everyone was.

If you’re looking at a long term project manager I don’t hate the idea of De Zerbi. Sure he’s been bad this season but let’s be fair… his team got decimated not only by injuries but also by transfers. Man lost basically his entire midfield. What he does have is a distinct, entertaining and fluid style of play. Extrapolate that out over 3-5 years with better, committed, young players and you could well be onto a winner.
