Tuberculosis still a problem in Canada

Tuberculosis is still a major problem in Canada, particularly in northern Indigenous communities. Inuit peoples in dozens of communities across the Arctic are getting tuberculosis at rates 300 times higher than non-Indigenous people born here. Following the death of a teenager who likely died due to tuberculosis in Labrador, the federal government has committed to eliminating the disease in Inuit communities by 2030.
