Tube Preamplifier in a Pedal-Sized Box!! | Arkham Oracle Preamp Bass Demo

Музыка

Arkham Sound is a small amplifier company based in Southern Maine, devoted to reanimating the sounds and workmanship of yesteryear.
The Arkham Oracle Preamp features a 12AX7 preamp tube selected for low noise and good tone, run at 300V B+ (not a starved plate design).
Standard version features two 1/4" TS Lo-Z outputs, Out 1 for normal use (power amp, interface, etc.). Out 2 may be used additionally to feed a DI box
DI version features one 1/4" TS Lo-Z output, and one XLR output. High quality Cinemag transformer, with Mu Metal shielding for ultra quiet operation.
Gain, Treble, Bass controls use a James Tonestack to provide a wide adjustment range with minimal interaction
Range control sweeps the tonestack "midpoint" anywhere between 150Hz and 1KHz
Hi switch adds a "bright cap" to the circuit to open up the high frequencies a bit
Mid switch provides a healthy bump around 250Hz
Lo switch another healthy bump, this time at 80Hz
HPF switch - Passive filter (-6dB/Octave) set at 100Hz
Master volume, dial back while boosting gain to add some grit

That thing is Spicy! I just bought a PF500 and 1x15 for that price, but it's a whole lot less portable. The Oracle would be great for gigging and recording.

Holy crap it even made the SG Bass sound good to me, that's awesome. (no knock to the player or even the model, I just don't usually dig the tone and for the first time I thought it sounded great)

I agree. I mean, I like the SG Bass but I get why people don’t. It was pretty easy to dial in some clarity with this preamp.

I never used a roll off filter because of losing the sub harmonics a lot cheaper than the noble (about 1100 bucks) which is nice too

Hi... You said that this preamp recorded direct has the same sound result, character, etc with a Bass recorded Direct with an Ampeg 8x10 IR/CabSim? I'm seriously considering this preamp, but still unsure because I need that 'speaker' sound for when I'm playing with headphones/in ears. Thank you!

What's the point of making something like this, especially at this price range, but not including a DI out? It sounds great. Buts it's not going to replace my current pre that's less than half the price with a ton more features.

It’s a tube powered outboard preamp. Most outboard preamps have higher costs associated because of the components necessary to build them. Not to mention it’s not a typical stomp box… it’s a whole lot more than that.

My decades of gear experience finds it's to sound superb. Indeed sounds like a high quality bass tube preamp rather than just another pedal trying to emulate. I don't own one but I may now be seeking one out.
