Great to see you finally will be revealing more details and insights of your OB speakers! That’s what I’ve been wanting to ask you for ever since! Thanks for that in advance! And good luck on the search for your recording device 😅

I've been building open baffle since 1994, I don't think I could ever enjoy music for critical listening on any conventional box speaker. Even my big CBT line arrays I built for my home theater are open baffle. In fact all the speakers in the home theater will be open baffle with the exception of the IB subwoofers that cover 10 ~ 30 Hz. If I ever get around to doing Atmos, they might be sealed or maybe not! Around 30+ years ago when we cleaned out and sold my dad's TV shop there were hundreds of tubes, I think my brother may still have them but they were for TV's and radios, not sure if there were any that would be useful today for high-end audio.

    What tweeter are you using?

Wavecor TW030WA11/12, the /11 model is 4ohm and the /12 is 8 ohms. Recommended to me several years ago by a company that specializes in selling speaker drivers and crossover components and they have been wonderful tweeters. One developed a very small noise several years ago, so we're on our second pair - but given the hours we put on our main listening system and the testing work we use it for, it wasn't a surprise that at some point we managed to damage one. If we didn't use our tweeters to check for system noise we would have just left the tweeter in, you couldn't hear the noise unless you put your ear in the tweeter waveguide.

I tried my OB panels with all sorts of configurations (12 prototypes) and hated the bass in all of them. It wasn't until i built an H frame bass box that i truly had great bass from my OB's. Next Tube Lab we'll hopefully have time to look at my prototype build and discuss what worked and didn't work.

@@tubelab194 we'll I tried a low Qts speaker driver's close to the wall about 5 inches and I think it worked I've got more bass and the mids and tweeters seem to blend better to so I'm pretty happy with the results ☺️

My midrange drivers were salvaged from Sony SS967 speakers, easily recognized because they have blue faces.
