Tuas Desalination Plant

Singapore's future water security lies with desalination and reuse. These rainfall-independent sources of water will help to reduce our vulnerability to weather uncertainties. Tuas Desalination Plant, Singapore's third desalination plant boost our desalination capacity up from 100mgd to 130mgd. Desalination can now meet up to 30% of Singapore's current water demand. Watch this video to find out how we treat sea water into potable drinking water at Tuas Desalination Plant.

What volume of reject is generated? How is the reject disposed of?

Since there are membranes used here, there will be water wastage. What is the percentage of water filtered or wasted? And how and where is the waste water disposed?

Nadzrin Puad Then PUB need to define contamination.. Try imagine this , why don’t PUB take seawater from the ports/ shipyards / transfer port ?? Because of iron and other foreign materials. If Malaysia make a portable port at the po it where SG PUB collect water , won’t it have the same TYPE of contaminant ?? If you go to Vivo city top level , you can smell the iron in the air ... Dangerous ... Sg must appeal to Malaysia to stop the portable port or PUB need to move the water collection point to a different area

I went swimming at Adelaide beach, and the water was so salty. Isn't the salt being pumped back into the ocean melting the ice caps? Salt melts ice doesn't it? (Why doesn't anyone listen to anyone in this world. We are as good as dead🌪️. Comments on most Adelaide Desalination Plant videos are turned off. I don't like being kept in the dark. Or put in the dark.

Maybe we could harvest the excess sea salt from these areas, just like we do in other areas across the world?

Nope. This reason doesn't contribute much to melting ice caps. The ocean is too big compared to the water we use. Especially drinking water. But yes, what it does harm is the aquatic life where the waste brine water meets the sea.

@@valerielim9373 Maybe, maybe not. These would produce a lot more salt than we need, or even can transport. Simply, not worth it. Unless we find some other big use for salt.
