You have to grease them every 3000 miles, i had sway bar links on my f150 that saw LOTS of off roading and the links lasted 30,000 miles with 0 maintenance before 1 ball joint started to creak. Solid product for the price point. I also like the grease over flow ports on the boots so prevent excessive pressure from over greasing.

First i want to say that I'm an ASE World Class Automotive Technician. I have 25 years experience in very advanced Auto repair areas. I was looking into this and Tom is correct. They should of put a heavy duty spring in the top hat and it would of been perfect. But all I can say is ..... China.... Moog Problem Solver CK & K Series is pretty good. If you are forced into getting a RK series Control arm just install a problem solver ball joint... The CK & K Series are usually made in the USA, Japan and Taiwan. The RK series is made in China...

Hello, First I'd like to congratulate you on your accomplishments - very impressive. Second, I wanted to ask you for your advice: I'm disabled and need my car to reliably take me back to 4 doctor's appointments each week. However, I accidentally reversed the cables on my 2006 E350 Mercedes when I last changed the battery and now it won't start. I've replaced all the blown fuses, and the rear battery controller. But, still won't start. Was wondering what you'd recommend I try next? Ty very much!

Slightly better than their regular line, but at least they’re available. The OEM parts are on national back order and have no ETA. Vehicle owners need their cars and shops often times have no other choice

Yeah, I've been asking our parts stores to stock up on the "good ones" they always have the cheap lines in stock and usually have to order the better ones. Not a problem if you get to check out the job beforehand, but not the case a lot of times. Or if you need something unforeseen.

Brief research has turned up two noteworthy things. Thing 1: The orange boot NAPA Fleet Ball joints you threw on the Ram a few weeks back are made by mevotech and rebranded for NAPA. That partnership started in 2022 in an effort to increase mevotech’s sales and availability of their parts in NAPA stores. Thing 2: There is in fact a “spring” inside of the TTX ball joint. It’s not a typical spring but there is a plate of sorts inside the joint on the opposite side of the ball from a normal preload spring. It’s weird, but they do have one. It’s the little washer looking thing you’re holding when you mention Mevotech giving you a call.

And you're right. I thought that at first, but then thought the placement was incorrect and wouldn't work like that. But I was wrong. It does sit below the lower bearing working as a spring. The problem is that it flattens out and cracks. Allowing play in the joint. Also stretches the crimp.

Even the factory ball joint in 4wd applications isn't pre-loaded, it doesnt need to be, the vehicle weight is on it. It isnt worn until it moves inboard and outboard, up and down is normal.

I havent had a TTX fail yet. Is it possible that the customer is having the vehicle serviced at quick lube joints who don't grease the fittings? Those seem to be the vehicles I see with several repeated part failures. The ones I service on the regular get quality grease every 3-5k miles and have been enjoying long part life so far.

I’m surprised to hear all the negatives about Moog. They used to be a go to, especially for problematic parts. What happened? With that and a tight budget, I’m trying the TTX inner and outer tie rod for my JL Wrangler.
