    Hi there Craig!!! Bummer about the ESC mate, could just have been a duff unit, but I thought I heard some whining from the gears on that car park run?!?!?! Anyway, good luck with the new ESC and just make sure that mesh is allowing a little movement on the gears and you'll be fine. Loving the talkie bits (Bell End!!! 🤣) and the new camera setup, definitely adds to the viewing experience along with the new studio heater / lighting! The car park is the place for you from now on, no pesky bends to get in the way (or lamp posts! 😅😅) But oh dear, I've set you a real target to chase now my friend. Catch me if ya can!! Cheers! 😬👊👍

    Hey Mark, seems that the general consensus is that something was off with my mesh. I am going to use the Yeah Racing set up for the next run. Means more time under the studio heater for me and some more camera tests 😁 I have one more shot at getting this ESC motor combo working otherwise I am back to the 15T on a 60/31 gear. I am still determined to catch up matey!! You are not away from me yet… going to reel you in next week!!!

    Yes, Craig, I do enjoy that little chit-chat! I'm halfway through the video, I paused to comment, I love your new lighting and of course the crispy close-up shots, very nice! I wanted to do stuff like that myself also, but I found it is just too much of a hassle, and it takes away from the joy of tinkering. I hope you find a good work routine, and of course show us that nice footage, still! Paused for comment again: I was able to fit a 31 tooth pinion with no modifications on the gear cover, TT-02. Yes, lock the front. Bummer on the burnt ESC... I think your driveline is binding! It sounded like that on the bench and even more so on the run footage. So electrically what happens is the motor will just try to overcome any "work", and the current will keep rising, and the weakest link will give up, the ESC. I think you have a mechanical issue. Sorry about the long comment, ha ha, I had a lot to say... Was really a great watch on a Saturday morning, and it got me thinking about motor timing, I now got some more plans of my own brewing, thanks very much! Have a great weekend there, my friend!

    Hey Mads, thanks for the lovely comment brother! Addam also thought it sounded like there was some binding. It surprises me as we have not had any issues all the way up to this motor. I have an adjustable motor mount which will go in this weekend to correct any issues. Good spot pal 🙌🏻🤘🏻 Good to know about the pinion pal. I hope my next runs are successful so we can blast again 😁 I am pleased you like the camera angles. I have some lovely new builds coming this winter and I really wanted to do them justice. Lots of close up shots during the build and I am going to make a proper plan for each one. Filming while I work helps me enjoy both aspects of the hobby which is a bonus!! I have grand plans but often it is all about how it works out 😂🤣 This trial was a good starter 🙌🏻

    Hey there. With that much torque thru yr 10T motor, try to free up as much rolling resistance in your bearings. Switch back to the rubber tyres as I think wider rears are larger than the fronts. Since you have a clear rear window, temporarily mount yr gps speed gauge undsr the screen. U can see the results and the added weight can substitute for some effects of a rear wing. Ditch the tamiya to deans connector. You are losing alot of voltage wasted through the tamiya connector. Spade connectors on a 10T? Direct solder them.

    Smoke is never good in an RC Car! You might try ditching that deans to Tamiya connector. It might be causing some resistance. You might want to check on that heat sink. I'm not sure, but it might be shorting out on the motor leads? Enjoyed the video!

    So a couple things I noticed, the gear mesh sounded too tight, it was very whiny sounding and the gear mesh being that tight causes a lot of excess drag. When everything is tightened down the spur and pinon should have the tiniest bit of play in between them, not a measurable amount just enough to see one move a tiny amount before the other other one does. I also saw it was a a Tamiya 1060 and I am not terribly confident they are the top rated ones from HobbyWing, I am not sure about anything but often things are cherry picked for optimal use by there own branding and the mid tier get rebranded for RTR and kits and then the lowest tier get sold under other companies on places like eBay where they may or may not last more than 10 minutes of normal use! The additional wire and connectors are not helping either as it is adding additional resistance which equates to heat, probably not enough to cause this but less wire and connectors the best. I used some on mine but I was not pulling the amperage your are with a 10t motor. Needless to say I am sorry it happened and I know you are getting frustrated but it could have been a lot worse so at least it is just a charred ESC and not a charred blob of a car!

  • @theoagrc

    @theoagrc

    10 ай бұрын

    Hey Addam, great advice pal! I will check the mesh as the Yeah Racing motor mount is going on next. I am sure you are right with the electronics and perhaps the Tamiya plug is causing all the problems. Mark was running the same set up on his except a lower gearing so perhaps it was me that killed it. It was a cheap 1060 model but is was claimed to be capable of the lower turn motor and higher rpm. Oh well! Replacement is on the way and we’ll have one or two more runs before it is all over… 40mph is in my sights!!! Thanks for watching brother 🙌🏻

    @@theoagrc Honestly it is more about the gearing than the motor. I mean of course a fast motor will help but the main driveline gearing is so low you really have to up the direct drive gearing a lot to make it go fast! Also, when you put in the 60t spur you will have all the room in the world for a bigger pinon. I have the 64t spur in mine now and a 25t pinion in there and the motor is almost touching the driveshaft is is shifted over so far due to the smaller spur.
