The Island looked fantastic back in those days.I first travelled over in 1964 and it cost 11 shillings half fare return (55p).I remember it was like stepping back in time 50 years.I saw the 50cc race and the Senior won by the great Mike Hailwood.Happy days.

Went to IOM past week and rode all tt courses. It's a beautifull place and I have even more respect for all the tt riders, the times they can ride the course in is mind blowing. RESPECT

As a young boy growing up in the 1960s Lancashire, watching this film made me determined to have a motorcycle, especially since the IOM was just across the water,;inflation eh, £5 to get to the IOM & enjoy yourself in 1936!

If you know the TT course its amazing how many turns and jumps and cliffs you recognise in this movie! its unreal how its changed...... but its also not, wish they would remake this movie with todays speeds and danger involved

There was a scene where a rider crashed into the bar at the Ballacraine Hotel. Some people still think it was George...but it was another rider.Even today some race commentators call it "George Formby's pub".But it is not a pub anymore and George never crashed into it!(I mean George's character obviously.)

The island does look one million times better in 1935 than it does today and it in black and white

If you took a poll on who won the 1935 TT Race, I think less than half would say Jimmie Guthrie and rest would say George Formby. 😂😂

+MrKnockaloe. The large pond (now long gone) was at the rear of what is now Kella Distillery on the main road through Sulby. Travel course wise from the Sulby Glenn Hotel exactly half a mile and there's the gap between the house and distillery where the bike goes for a dip. Check it out on Google earth street view, its opposite the blue tipper truck where the red Post Office van is parked.

+Dave Crooks A great big thanks Dave .That,s a mystery well and truly solved.I remember every July in the 80,s and beyond having a drive round Sulby looking for a small lake behind a row of houses in a Austin Maxi with 3 kids and a dog when we had a rainy day. Not that you get many in the IOM.I still have a bottle of Glen Kella hidden somewhere in the cupboard. Thanks again Dave!
