TTArtisans despite known for being ultra budget lenses they do have descent image quality. I tested the 35mm F/1.4 a while back and I was quite happy with the image quality. You sacrifice in a lot of features with these lenses but in the end of the day photography is for photos. So it is fun to have one.

True. I bought their 50 f1.2 and I didn't expect that I would enjoy using it. I immediately printed the photos and everyone is happy.

The way you unscrewed that lens cap😅🤣🤣. Thanks for the laugh AND the review Kai!
It’s a nice lens, especially for the price. I use it primarily for digitizing my negatives, and I get great results.

Hey Jason, how much approximately sensor surface do you use at f8?
@carltontattoo
Жыл бұрын
I wanted it for this exact reason but was concerned the crop would be too much for quality enlargements of 11x14. Have you printed that large? This would also be from 120 medium format film. Thanks.:)

@@carltontattoo If I wanted, I can fill the entire 35mm film on my sensor. But I intentionally leave some borders for cropping and white balancing. In the end, it would come down to what aspect ratio you use for the 120 film (I personally haven't digitized 120 yet, although I shoot with them) and what resolution your camera has. I haven't printed anything physical yet, but I would assume it's very doable.
I own that 90mm 1.25 for my Z5. I really like that lens. You can pull the hood and cap right off.
I just looked you up. So cool to see you still around, You were one of my greatest favorites when you were on the other channel. Cheers!!!!!
Glad that there are new Videos! keep it coming!
I’m glad you cleared up the TT artisans vs 7 artisans confusion I’ve avoided it for that reason
Nice👍 always looking good lenses that aren’t terribly expensive
I have the TT Artisans 17mm f1.4 and 50mm f1.2 on my Fuji bodies and they are pretty good. Thanks for this video Kai.

Same. I love them. They have their clear flaws but they're counterbalanced by (a) the price and (b) their optical strengths - headshot distance portraits on the 50 and the very fast aperture on a medium wide-angle on the 17.
Hi Kai. Have you seen DIY Perks' channel? He released a video yesterday of a lens setup he made using an episcope lens that has an aperture effectively of f/0.40 at 35mm. Now that is some BOKELICIOUS shit!!! The background separation makes the subject look as though they are keyed in.
Awesome lens for digitizing negatives
As a pocket watch collector I do love your IWC Schaffhausen ⌚🔥
Thanks for the review, was thinking about a macro Takumar for the negatives now this might be it, except if anyone here thinks the Taks are better.
I bought this lens just a couple of weeks ago and still waiting for it to arrive to my country. It better be good, I wanna try some macro already.
Wow kai!
aside from the subject of the video, but I'm curious what's the scoop on the M-P 240? Are you satisfied with it compared to an M10? I'm mighty curious because looking at the two it would be quite nice to spend a few grand less.
Kai talking about upgrading to full frame while I'm over here with a collection of MFT gear for digital. Even film I shoot a lot of half frame, prices are getting expensive to buy a bundle of film even for 35mm. I really enjoy my EM1.2, EM5.2, E-P5, and GX85 bodies, they do everything I need and more (the E-P5 with a pancake is a legend of a camera for what it is imo).
@JodyBruchon

I'd never go full-frame. MFT is so much more flexible and lighter and cheaper, and with monsters like the GH5 and GH5S, why bother with the rest?
@michaelcroff7097

Yep. I bought a GH5 II to complement my Pocket 4k’s and turns out I could totally use it for weddings and corporate work. Keep it under 2000. Pretty achievable when Samyang makes a 270mm equiv f2.0.
Nice!
Reminds me of the old Pentax Takumar 50mm macro from the 70's.
WEEOO Bokeh!
40mm my favorite 😋
I love this tittyartisan lens for my Z50. Always wanted to try proper macro photography and decided to look into some glass, maybe used, that I can adapt to may camera. And then I found this. And it was cheap. And it was on christmas discount. I checked couple of reviews and confirmed it was decent. And it's good. You can tell it's cheap, but it's metal, it's well made and it does really good photos. It's not the bestest thing eva, but for it's price it's really good.

At the end of Kai's videos I'm still anticipating the digitalRev outro tune
How does the image quality compare to vintage macro lenses? I bought a Minolta MD 3,5/50mm, that can go to 1:1 on full frame, with the included extension ring. I haven't used it with a digital camera yet. But the build quality is fantastic.
Would be nice for digitizing negatives.
6:22 - I like that bucket hat. I want one.
Kai, are you wearing the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch? Do a review! :)
Nice video
Canon EF Version ?
I use the Canon 200D so this is perfect! Budget and picture quality! Thanks man! ✌🏻

The 90mm 1.25 is just 435$ for other mounts. For that price its a pretty decent deal. I dont know why the M Version is so much more expensive.

For other mounts, the lens doesn’t need to be a rangefinder coupling. It’s an extra mechanical complication.

nice IWC tho
The lens, and screw cap looks like some mid 80s lenses I have
nice... you used my friend Sam's tracks ;)
Might go to the UK for holiday, wondering can i get this lens at the any local store ?
TTArtisan are pretty good at what they do I think. I have their 11mm f2.8 fisheye for Sony FE and I'd say it's excellent.
It would have been nice if you had shown something with intricate details.
I would watch Top Gear again, if Kai was presenting it.
It's a crazy good lens for its price, especially that it covers the entire full-frame sensor at 1:1 magnification!

The resell value of these TT is ZERO!
Garbage! I bought one of these lenses for some copy work, and the lens started falling apart after minimal use. There is no TTArtisan in the United States to service this lens. If you are a professional - buy a real product with a service network behind it.
Crap lens !
