TSO Products MTR-18 Precision Triangle - Product Overview

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Much more than a triangle, the MTR-18 Kit is a first-of-its-kind tool combining the accuracy of a CNC machined precision triangle with included accessories to enable countless clamping, angle measuring and jig scenarios.
Designed to take advantage of today's modern 20mm hole patterned worktops, the MTR-18 has all of the features and capability you need. It has the ability to be set to any angle with the included indexing pointer and brass locking pin. Once registered to a 20mm patterned worktop, such as the Festool® MFT/3, UJK Technology top or one created using a Parf Guide System, the MTR-18 acts as a fast and extremely accurate angle register. Set a precise angle with its large protractor scale and included pointer with parallax-free viewport, and then lock it in place with the included DoubleGroove™ Large Dogs (for the Festool MFT/3), or the 30mm Close Fitting Dog, and M8 SpeedKnobs™.

At 14:00 you could have made the process less cumbersome by flipping the MTR-18 around so the angle pieces were on the edge of the boards instead of how you have them. This would have made the clamping so much easier.

Hmm! for that sort of money I'll stick with my Benchdogs triangle, very precise and less than half the money, and... it's made here in old blighty, admittedly not so many features but a great bit of kit.

I note that the TSO guide rail squares have almost halved in price since they first hit the shelves. Ive got the Festool branded one (still made by TSO just not blue). At £115 and just after payday I pulled the trigger, but there is no way I could have justified the ~£200 it was initially, much less the £400 that the triangle costs. There will be people out there wealthy enough who see the utility in the MTR-18, but there wont be many of them. You can get an admittedly much less shiny and probably less accurate Stanley one for thirty quid...But its probably accurate *enough*.

Whilst I can appreciate the quality of the kit, it's a little too 'sophisticated' for my needs and therefore cost prohibitive, as I say though lovely bit of kit 👍👍

While it is expensive - in my case I would consider buying this instead of buying an MFT/3 & accessories. In which case this coupled with the parf guide system would provide you more flexibility for your money. Thoughts?

The content of this video demonstrates most of which can be achieved using current UJK products such as the assembly square, fence clamps and cam clamps. the price seems to to set at what the market could potentially stand rather than what it is worth. Way too expensive and very few are likely to justify its 'limited potential' against what is already available.

Nice tool, if your building something that really needs that precision...but way too expensive at £398.74... they retail at $444.90 in the USA ( or £342.26 at today’s exchange rate)... So if you really need one...lol...and are planning a holiday in the USA, take a big case and some extra spending money and save yourself £56. My guess is that in order to make a profit on these in the UK (after import duty of 8% and VAT at 20%), Axminster must be buying them for half the US retail value...

This is a beautifully crafted tool, almost a work of art but at just short of £400 there's no way I could warrant buying it. Buying a tool like this, it has to pay for its self and I can not see how it would significantly improve productivity

Square cut against a rail? With those benchdogs fouling the festool saw? I don't think so. Agree price is obscene that's a weeks wages for some.

An excellent tool, but the price kills the sale.

would have been alot easier to clamp the angle brackets at the edge of the wood instead of awkwardly trying to fit insufficient clamps over and inside of the unit (just flip it around).

Whilst beautiful, I can't see £398.74 worth of value in it.

That was my exact thought when I saw one in the shop. I can't believe anyone is buying one at that price.

@1:43 "Nobody else in the world makes anything like this."...yet. As soon as the Chinese manufacturers realize there might be a market for this, it will be likely available from sources like Banggood well below the current price. Unlike other TSO Products items, there is no patent number on the MTR-18.

And even if it were patented, the existence of a patent would mean nothing to the Chinese who would go straight ahead and rip it off. Thing is, Bridge City kit is made in Taiwan, and it is proudly laser etched on the tools, and the Bridge City kit is beautiful quality.

Very nice. I can see it working well on an MFT, but who in their right mind buys a £400 piece of kit and uses it to clamp shelves! :D :D ... can't be good for it :P

    How did we ever build our castles, cathedrals and palaces without a £400.00 aluminium kit? Precision gone mad in my opinion what kind of a general wood worker works, less understand theses kind of tolerances. Which even don’t exist in the natural world. What wood workers and crafts men need to understand, and need to be able to interpret are naturally occurring divergencies in the material they are working with and have the experience to compensate accordingly. The world does not work to 1000 inch tolerances;

I have been trying or receive parts from this company for over 5 weeks. Two times now they were going to check on the order and call me back. Both times the company has not returned calls. I'm still waiting for parts. Save your money and buy else where would be my advise.
